Highly recommend this book! You should go in knowing as little about the story as possible. But what an emotional roller coaster! A masterful work of sci-fi storytelling! The format wasn't a gimmick, but purposeful and perfectly suited to the the story it was telling. LOVE. THIS. BOOK.

Loved the ending, but I think the series suffered from pacing issues due to heavy flashbacks. Ambitious series.

This Jane Eyre retelling didn't compare to the original. The childhood portion was decent, but my biggest complaint was the lack of tension between the Jane/Rochester characters. Just read Bronte instead.

Enjoying this retelling of Jane Eyre. Though, got a tad confused regarding setting. The time period is post-WWII and yet at one point she was carrying around a torch?? 🤔🙃😅

Eyelit She may have been referring to a flashlight. I think the British call flashlights torches even today 7y
Lauren.Hughes @Eyelit It takes place in Scotland, so that would make sense! I wasn't sure if it was her way of preparing us for fire scenes later on. Regional diction is more logical! 7y

"The unceasing whispers and moans from the cells around me burrow into my head like carnivorous worms." What a fantastically creepy sentence! Poor Elias!

Published in 2002, but one of my favorite reads of 2016. This YA sci-fi novel explores cloning and what it means to be human. Deserves every award it won and I'll even give it a medal of my own 🏅

This is my current audiobook for my commute to work. I often find myself getting frustrated with the main character, but am fascinated by the bits about music and the French Revolution.

Reading Sabaa Tabir's Torch Against the Night on this ❄️snowy❄️ Saturday morning. I have an interesting theory on Keenan's character and want to see if I'm right... But it's the kind of huge twist that I might not see til a later book.

DebinHawaii Welcome to Litsy! I hope you enjoy it here!! 🎉📚👍😀 7y
