Three quirks I have as a reader:
*I ALWAYS have to read the book before I watch the adaptation, but then I often find I don't feel like watching the adaptation bc 1) it will be disappointing 2) it will be so faithful that it will be like rereading the book
*I always have a book with me when I'm not home. If it's not on my person, I have 1-5 backups in my car.
*I only recently started using bookmarks. I usually remember where I stopped in a book.

dabbe #1: I'm a believer that the book is always better. I have to read it first, too! 🤩
#2: Do you use a Kindle, or do you prefer physical books?
#3: #ditto! 🤩

vivastory @dabbe I def prefer physical, but I get a lot of use out of the kindle app on my phone! 3mo

2 hrs 1 min.

I would be tempted to say this is pathetic of me, but I'm working on being kinder to myself during this unique time for us all. So no potty mouth for me!

I read "Paper Kingdom" and finished "Reading Quirks".
I made substantial progress on the poetry anthology "Ink" and managed a little over an hour on the "Fair Play" audiobook.

I used the Bookly app to track time ?⏱?

Andrew65 Every little bit of reading helps 😊, and yes we all need to be kinder to ourselves. 4y
Librariana Thank you for always being so encouraging, @Andrew65 😊 I think there's a bit of reader's guilt and shame that comes with comparing your progress to those of others, but I just need to shift my focus and celebrate my reading accomplishments, however small. 4y
Andrew65 @Librariana Whatever you do don‘t compare to others, always compare to yourself & what is achievable. We all have different lives, pressures, demands on us etc. During my mid 20s - 40 I didn‘t do much reading at all. Work, family commitments etc, Now children flown the nest & my wife and I, who both love to read both have more time to read. My reading has gone up year on year over the past few years. I will always encourage others as that is me! 4y
Cinfhen Hi!!! Just thinking about you 💜Hope you‘re having a good day 😊 4y

A collection of comics reflecting the odd things book lovers do. This book is truly an international collaboration, with the writer living in the United States, and the illustrator living in Spain. I loved how universal these emotions are. Book lovers everywhere will identify with these cartoons. Such a fun read and a great way to spend the evening.

I received a free copy from Edelweiss and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Palimpsest Maybe I‘m odd, but I never eat when I‘m reading, or in bed. I don‘t want food fingers anywhere near my books. Just commenting about that because of this book cover. Stacking, sounds like a fun book. 😊 4y

I loved the webcomic Reading Quirks, so when I found out it had been published in hardcover it was an immediate purchase. I remember the majority of these, there's a few I don't recall, but it was still a joy to revisit. If you like Sarah Andersen & Tom Gauld's literary oriented work, you'll definitely like this.

BiblioLitten I love Reading Quirks too. Had even posted a few on Litsy. This would make a wonderful gift for book lovers too! 4y

vivastory @LeahBergen I STILL think of the ending of the Other when I reach the end of a bota box & the wine turns into a trickle 4y
Liz_M I think the wine would be safe but there might be an epic food fight. 😁 4y
vivastory @Liz_M I think you're right! 🍰🍮🧀😂 4y

Super funny comics that are also super true! Like if you're going to dog ear a book, there's a proper way to do it that doesn't involve folding any of the page that has text on it. Or how reading a book should basically signal to others that you are not really with them. Or how it's just smarter to buy multiple copies to lend. The reading quirks are hilarious, endearing, frustrating (to non-readers) and recognizable to readers everywhere.

MidnightBookGirl Book 5 of 2020! Hardcover read. 4y

A fun collection of comics that will appeal to people who prefer reading to most other activities, created by bookstore The Wild Detectives. Ben Fountain writes a fun, brief introduction.

[I received an advanced e-galley of this book through Edelweiss. It is due to be published October 8, 2019.]
