First book by Meg Cabot but I hear lots of good things!

TLuvs For my first read by MC, I liked it more then I expected to! The story line moved at a great pace and the small island town sounds like somewhere I want to visit. I'm definitely going to continue reading her books! 3.5 🌟 1y

This book did not get better, it actually became much worse. There was a scene at the end where I audibly said "wait... what?" Because it was just so out of character and ridiculous. Disappointed because I like the small town, island vibes, but I will not be continuing this series. Another book finished for #bookspinbingo

My current read. I'm enjoying this for the most part. The main character can be a little annoying, so I'm hoping that goes away. I'm not a fan of how she tells others "don't judge me so easily" then proceeds to quickly judge others.

A friend had just finished an intense World War II novel, and wanted a break. So I suggested this as a fun, sexy, no-intensity read. It worked for her.

It's about a woman who is on an island in the path of a hurricane. She determines to rescue all the pets left behind.

Quick easy read. Since I live near a lake and many small islands, the atmosphere of Little Bridge Island was relatable to me. My town is also smaller than LBI. We have many tourists and everyone seems to know everyone and everything that goes on. Our little town comes together like the community there as well.

No Judgments is a great, but easy story to read and to listen. I simply loved everything about this book. I felt happy when listening to it even though the things in the book were not necessarily happy at all. Well, expect for people's kind hearts after hurricanes.
The story itself is beautiful and I enjoyed every minute of it. I really like the characters in general, but Drew for me is special!
The narrator also was really easy to listen to.

🐚 I loved the tagged book, read it earlier this year. What more could you want- a beach, hunky mc and a feisty female lead.
🐚 Today we visited my husbands mum in London and had socially distanced bbq in the garden. He hasn‘t seen his mum for nearly two years. Also for the Birthday wishes for yesterday ❤️

This is in no way the best contemporary romance but Meg Cabot always makes me laugh out loud! (Seriously I can‘t read her books in public) That to me is worth a pick. It happens a little too fast but it‘s fun even in the setting of a hurricane. Also I‘ve been to the Keys a few times so it‘s fun knowing exactly where the story takes place.
Getting close to a bingo. #bookspinbingo

TheAromaofBooks Oh this one sounds fun! I am always on the lookout for some lighthearted romance! 4y

This is another book that drove me crazy(!!!) with its portrayal of characters who seem to be such great feminists, but still demean women all the time! For being called “No Judgments,” this book certainly has a lot of judgments about women. And then on top of it, crazy things happen! Like, there‘s a scene where two guys watch leading lady walk into room with another guy, her with a gun, then she shoots the gun, which they cannot see, (cont.👇🏼)

betsyhaddox but can defs hear the gunshot because she‘s nearby, and then NEITHER OF THEM COME FIND HER, like, are you craaAAAAZZYYYY???? What if she just got shot? I mean, these people care about leading lady in theory and don‘t do anything. Also, most of the attraction in this book is based off the adopting and caring for more and more pets. ? This is surely alluring to some, but I hazard to say that Cabot could‘ve built up the relationships a bit more. 4y

Meg Cabot‘s hit-or-miss for me & this one leaned closer to a miss than I would‘ve liked. While not without his merits (being an artistic carpenter who built his own beach house & the proud owner of a pack of scruffy dogs — with a zero tolerance policy for both animal cruelty & sexual abuse; yeah, this one‘s got bite), I didn‘t swoon as hard as I should have over the love interest. He‘s an insufferable mansplainer...& a bit bro-y for my tastes.👇🏻

monalyisha 1/1: Also, not that it figured into the plot in any major way at all, but a kind family was keeping pet rabbits in an outdoor hutch in Florida Keys‘ heat. Which is just incorrect [insert David Rose/Schitt‘s Creek meme here]. Still, a cute romance is a cute romance & who am I to complain? It‘s the genre I need right now. 🤷‍♀️ 4y

ravenlee I once read a romance featuring a Chicago paramedic...and just days later was in an ambulance in Chicago (where I don‘t live). Another time I was reading a book involving a car accident victim seeking treatment from a chiropractor and the next day was in my first car accident (not my fault). So, I believe it‘s entirely possible you manifested a storm from your book! 4y

I read so much Meg Cabot as a teenager, but I hadn't read any if her novels in years, so I was curious when I saw a new romance novel in the library, and it took me back. It's a sweet romance, but the ending did feel a little rushed. It was still a quick fun read.

It took a bit to get into, and I wasn't always sure how I felt about it, but it certainly wasn't terrible. I liked the characters and the ending was great. I love Cabot's Boy Next Door series, so I'll probably continue with this one,

#BookishBingo: Characters drink champagne
#Pop20: Main character in 20s
#AtoZ

MarriedtoMrT “It certainly wasn‘t terrible” pretty much summed up my feelings as well. 😂 (Though, the confrontation at the end?? That was a bit much.) 4y

#2019Book97
I'm fairly new to the romance genre, so I had to keep reminding myself that it wasn't a bad thing that I could predict exactly where the book was going. I've always been a fan of Meg Cabot's YA books, though, so I really enjoyed reading one of her more adult novels.

Reggie Lolololol, yeah, I laugh every time my insides get so twisted up when I know that every romance, the one requirement they have to have is that they have a happy ending. For a second or two I manage to convince myself it isn‘t gonna happen. Happy New Year!!!🥳 4y

I really did enjoy reading this. It was fluffy & fun. But there were things in the plot and in the writing that just made me cringe. The writing is good & the things that bothered me probably wouldn't bother readers who are fans of the romance genre. For me, it just wasn't the right thing. Outside of the romance component, it was an enjoyable read. It was relatively predictable, but that's kind of a nice thing when you're looking for a beach read.

I only had 2-1/2 hours left of the audio book and I just didn‘t care how it ended. I was irritated by the main character and just didn‘t like her. There wasn‘t even enough humor to keep me going. This one fell very flat for me.

I was hoping for a fun romp. Instead got a hot mess.

On the plus side: animals and fun new friends, including the local drag queen/pug parent (really, too minor a character).

On the minus side: poor judgment in the face of a hurricane, sexual assault, animal abuse, over-the-top family drama (can't detail this much for fear of spoiling), cavalier treatment of a gun incident, and general ridiculousness.
