The world building is lovely and amazing! But also, the heroine is super annoying and the heroes are either dumb or too closed off.

Overall rather enjoyable, but I do wish I found her less annoying. It‘s rather grating when someone who so clearly has an overactive imagination is proven correct.

I just couldn‘t finish this. Elliot was a snot and off the bar you can tell he and Luke will get together. And the chapters are so very long!

Enjoyable, but maybe not quite as enjoyable as book 1 for me. Also a love hate relationship for me with the constant switching of perspectives each chapter; I had to keep reading to learn what happened next!

A recommendation from a friend and gosh darn it I loved this! I will say though, the whole tome I was reading this I was thinking it was a lot like the show Timeless. Or maybe Timeless was an awful lot like this series. Regardless, I‘m off to read the next book!

The Wrong Mr. Darcy | Evelyn Lozada, Holly Lorincz

This was...not my cup of tea. I thought the premise was good and I enjoyed the basic storyline, but I did not enjoy the writing. A lot of religion and it didn‘t flow for me. Very choppy?

Another very solid entry to the series! Enjoyed the twists and it was definitely different to have the past life and doppelgänger twists!

House Rules | Ruby Lang
Pickpick

This was shorter than I was expecting, but that‘s not necessarily a bad thing. It did seem to rush the ending a bit though, although I did still enjoy the ending. And as a 41 year old divorcee, I greatly enjoyed the story for 2 40 something‘s reconnect!

A Sweet Mess | Jayci Lee
Pickpick

Stayed up all night to finish thus because I couldn‘t put it down! I laughed, I cried, I hungered for yummies; I loved this book. Just enough angst and drama, but good conclusions. Also, Bree was strong and Tara is an amazing bestie. I can‘t wait for the next book and I‘m sure hoping I‘m not wrong on who the couple will be!

Super hard time getting through this book; it felt so smug! I thought I would love it; I mean, rich lady detective who sort of bucks traditional and does good with her money and a smidge if romance....what‘s not to love? But reading this was such a chore for me and the whole time I felt smugness radiating from the pages.

I really enjoyed the book! I had to say that I was a little worried that at any moment, something would happen to cause the leads to lose faith in the other, or believe in themselves even less and I loved that it never happened. The other show never dropped! No mishaps, no crosses wires; nothing. And I am so here for it!!! This was both a fast and slow burn for me and kept me rushing to finish the book!

And Dangerous to Know | Darcie Wilde
Pickpick

I greatly enjoyed the book! Went in thinking this was a historical cozy, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was a historical mystery series. I was really only bothered by 2 things; more about her father, her mother, and her sister (coming into the series a few in, I really couldn‘t follow along) and I strongly dislike romantic triangles (I understand why she‘s torn, but hope they wrap this up quickly as we all know who she‘ll pick).

The Titanic Secret | Clive Cussler, Jack B. Du Brul

One of my fave Cussler novels! Love the Isaac Bell adventures and I‘ve especially love when the different characters interact with each other, and having Dirk read about Bell is so fun. This was smart, fast paced, fun, and such an easy read.

What a good book! I think I might have enjoyed this one best out of the 3 prequels; I loved the characters, how it moved the story along and really tied with the later story, and I loved getting that peek into what made him.

A slow start, but it really picked up the pace at the end! And, this was a lovely look into his “youth” and how he started as a private detective.

Adorable, so adorable! Loved this so much!!! I loved the characters, the protagonist, the friends, the everything. This was such a perfect escape book for me and I‘m now recommending it to everyone!

I really hovered between a 3.5 and a 4; I think I enjoyed the book, especially towards the end as everything finally came together, but there were some stretches were I found the story a bit tedious. I do wish there were more fairy tales in this one, but I appreciated Finch‘s sections.

Silenced in Sequins | Debra Sennefelder

Solidly cute! She‘s a tad too curious and independent for me, but the overall story was solid and the side story wasn‘t too big of a focus and resolved quick enough for me not to be annoyed.

Torn on this book; it was super sweet, had great characters, but somehow wasn‘t able to hold my attention for long spans. I loved the relationship between Tucker and Quinn, but while I liked all the characters individually, I had a hard time with their interactions with Quinn. I think they were all really pushy and so i was often annoyed?

Loveboat, Taipei | Abigail Hing Wen
Pickpick

This is a pick for me, but I think my expectations were waaaay too high and that is how I ended up disappointed. Disclaimer, I was actually on Loveboat in the heyday of the late 90s/early 2000s. This felt like the author was trying to cover too much and I would have loved to see her cover less topics, but in a bit more depth. Also, I didn‘t enjoy that she didn‘t really show that there were students in the trip who weren‘t so....selfish?

I was....unimpressed with the latest entry to the series; it was fine, but dull. There wasn‘t really any “action”, just a series of events narrated to us and I found myself constantly wondering when something would happen. By chapter 16, I had given up a. Just powered through to finish the book.

Overall, I quite enjoyed this new series; I do wish she was a little less headstrong and he was a little less of a prude, but found it enjoyable and that I wasn‘t too annoyed by the protagonists.

Death Comes to the Nursery | Catherine Lloyd
Pickpick

Just lovely, perfectly hits the sweet spot for me; historical setting, intriguing mystery, a bit of a comedy of errors, a strong willed woman who is not overly insistent on doing things she shouldn‘t, and a husband who doesn‘t always agree but loves and trusts his wife enough to let her get her way. I did take a star away because there was too much a comedy of errors, it was starting to get a bit grating.

Oh wow, I enjoyed this book! Basically my fave type of cozy; hero who worries about the heroine, but doesn‘t insist she quit? Check. Loving family? Check. Adorable dog? Check. Great job? Check. Just quirky enough yet still lovable side characters? Check. Super enjoyed this & I cannot wait to read more of this series!

Belle Rvolte | Linsey Miller

I wanted to love it, but it also tried cramming way too much into it and that really took away some of the enjoyment for me. Also, has a LGBTQ representation and intimate moments and all that stuff, so you‘ve been warned if that‘s not your thing.

This was so cute! I‘m really loving the asian protagonists, I love that they try to balance their worlds, and I like that they‘re so supportive of each other! The mom thing was a bit of a spoiler for me, even though I kind of felt like that‘s were it was going. Good read!

This book was cute. I enjoyed the overall premise & I was glad that they quickly got over their misconceptions about each other, but as someone who isn‘t religious, I didn‘t realise it would have so many references to God. It also seemed to drag somewhat in the first half of the book, but then tie everything up very quickly in the second half.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I love Louise Penny‘s Armand Gamache novels, but instead of devouring this in a day like usual, it took me a week....I just had a harder time getting through this and I‘m not quite sure why. I think that the crime was less interesting to me somehow, but the ending was both expected and unexpected.

When I first got approved for the book, it turned out to just be an excerpt. But, just from that excerpt, I realised that I really wanted to read the full book. Imagine my surprise when I received an email saying I was approved to read the book! And it was good! I really enjoyed this book, and not just because I‘m a font nerd. I enjoyed that the characters are all a little zany and that they turned the mundane into something fun.

Love, Unscripted | Owen Nicholls
Bailedbailed

I thought the premise of this book was cute, but the execution was not. I was expecting Hornby, but I bailed about halfway through because I couldn‘t get through it; already been a month of me trying to work through, but I felt it was long and the protagonist was lacking in any interesting qualities which it made it hard for me to root for him. Also, the back and forth time in time distracted me from the flow of the story and made it harder for me

I was very pleasantly surprised by this book and how much I enjoyed it! I loved that there wasn‘t too much teenage angst! I also loved that they got over their hurt feelings pretty quickly like adults and worked to get stuff done. Also glad that it ended on a happy note, but slightly open ended in case it‘ll be a series :)

I cannot state enough how much I love the Hot & Hammered series!!! I haven‘t had a chance to read her other series yet, but based of this one, she writes perspectives with such realism. Her characters don‘t do overly stupid things, they are adult conflicted, and they want to do better. I cannot wait to see what happens next with ”Bethy” & Wes!

Been There, Married That | Gigi Levangie Grazer

A hilarious account of what happens when a Hollywood couple divorces, especially when the wife was a normal person. Unfortunately, I couldn‘t get behind any of the characters; none of them are really likeable and this isn‘t a story where they‘re suppose to be unlikeable. But, it was a quick and short read, so I didn‘t expect it to go beneath the surface.

Verify and Sidney are definitely growing on me! I also love that they‘re discussing PTSD, survivor‘s guilt, and losing themselves in alcohol to deal with pain and loss: real things that actually happen. And I‘m glad that they continue to bring in people from Ver & Sid‘s past for them to have to deal with.

I have mixed feelings about this book, but I think it‘s because I‘m not a mother. At the beginning, I was like “whoa Ali, TMI!” But then I was like, “ok, I feel you!”

I was talking to my sis who did say that it hits a lot harder if you‘re also a working mom cause you know exactly what she‘s saying when she talks about exploding poop and afterbirth.
