What a fun fun read! This was the first book in the series for me, but I had such a good time reading this. I absolutely loved the crossover with another of her series‘s stars! The mystery was engaging with plenty of clues to follow and red herrings to work through.

This had some clever bits, with dark humour and fun revenge. However, the way it‘s all written was a bit confusing. Overall enjoyable though.

What fun, fast read! The characters, both MC and supporting, were likeable and easy to connect with. The plot was fun and slightly crazy, but just. I enjoyed everything about this and cannot wait to read more Talia Hubert YA novels.

Pretty cover, great premise, intriguing murder….but lacks follow through; this really could have done with a good editor. A lot of portions of the writing took me out of the story and it was much longer than it needed to be. That said, I will definitely check out the next in the series because I think the bones are good.

I continue to really enjoy this series; definitely an updated Agatha Christie type book that‘s easy to read, has excellent pacing, plus fun characters and zippy mysteries and clever red herrings.

Such a fast read! I started it and the next thing I knew, I was at the end of the book. This was fast paced and fun, had good mysteries, interesting characters, and just the right bit of romance. I loved the length of the book and cannot wait to read book 3!

When in Rome | Sarah Adams

Such a fast and fun read, perfect palate cleanser from all the death and murder I‘m usually reading. This has game art, warmth, and humour. Spicy level zero though.

Great book 3 in the series! Engaging mystery, good character development, interesting side stories, and delicious food. This was such a zippy read; started it and the next thing inknew it was over!

The Skeleton Key | Erin Kelly
Pickpick

For the most part, I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the premise, I enjoyed the mystery, and I was pretty captivated. However, I had a hard time with our MC; at times I could definitely understand her stresses. But, there were times when I felt she was a bit paranoid and overly focused on things.

The mystery is 5 stars. The teen angst romance thing is 2 stars. The whole stupid part of her not doing anything for her future, lying to friends, and the ending things she does? Negative stars!

I think this might be my favourite

Overall I enjoyed this start to a new series, but, in my opinion, it was a tad longer than it needed to be; some of the info, especially the stuff not connected to the murder could have been condensed. I was also kind of annoyed at the protagonist and her 2 besties; how old are they??? The murder itself was finally good and had a lot of things thrown in, from rare books to a secret hiding place.

Fun first book in a new series that has just enough family, romance issues, and mystery. The mystery and the story were pretty zippy; even if the murderer was hinted at pretty early, the read to the end was a lot of fun.

I‘ll be honest, I loved book 1 and didn‘t feel it needed a second book. That said, I loved revisiting this amazing world that Sue Lynn Tan created and revisiting with all the characters. As a Chinese born American raised on all the mythology, I adored reading a story with my people.

Ship Wrecked | Olivia Dade
Pickpick

This is probably the last book I‘ll read in 2022 and I am definitely ending it on a high note! This was classic Olivia Dade; hilarious, touching, and so very steamy! As always, she lets the world know that women of all body shapes and sizes are normal and deserve the world too. I adored everything about this and now wonder who in the cast might be left.

I absolutely love the Bakeshop Mysteries and this book just flew by! The characters are amazing and very well fleshed out, the mysteries are always entertaining, and there‘s just the right amount of red herrings to shift though while solving the mystery. She may not always solve the mystery, but she also doesn‘t do anything dumb to put herself in danger. Plus, I really like that she presents info to the police and they actually figure it out.

Fun sophomore effort in this series! The mystery was fun with plenty of red herrings and suspects, the story and characters were engaging, and the cocktails sounded delicious.

The first in the series, but backstory was mentioned in a way as to suggest at least one previous book? Our MC stumbles her way to the murderer while constantly throwing herself into danger and continually making all the wrong decisions. Some red herrings and an easily guessed murderer, but they may have set it up so you guessed the murderer right from the beginning?

Very quick, fun read. Nice to see Jenna‘s momma bear come out. Lots of clues, red herrings, and cooperation amongst everyone to get this solved.

Death by Arts and Crafts | Alexis Morgan

This was zippy, but our MC really didn‘t do anything. She was somewhat involved and basically spent most of the book scared. I really do wish that she did something. However, there were enough red herrings and the ending was a pleasant surprise.

Lunar Love | Lauren Kung Jessen
Pickpick

A very cute, very fast read that incorporates the Chinese zodiac. She's a little bit too judgement and inflexible for me, but the story was grabbed my attention and I zipped right though the book. While I enjoyed the pace of the book, I do feel like things happened very quickly and could have been fleshed out a bit more.

Very zippy read! The murder was intriguing, with plenty of suspects and red herrings. Very much like a Hallmark movie meets Agatha Christie with everyone stuck at a ski lodge for the weekend. Looking forward to book 2!

Of Mushrooms and Matrimony | Amy Patricia Meade
Pickpick

This was a fun read with a lot of interesting info on mushrooms. They worked the clues and solved the case, with enough suspects and red herrings to keep you guessing. I enjoyed the read and loved seeing how all the characters were doing; it was especially nice to see our MC grow more comfortable in her relationship, work, & crime solving.

Knot a Game | Betty Hechtman

I enjoyed the premise and thought the mystery yarn retreat portion was well done. However, having enjoyed past books in this series, I really struggled with this; I just couldn't keep interested enough to want to keep reading and so it was a push for me to finish this. The parts I enjoyed most were when she and her former boss, the P.I., were discussing the case. The parts I enjoyed the least had to do with the cat and stinky fish.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be reading any more of this series; I had a really hard time with this book and specifically how are MC went about “solving“ the case. This time around, everyone seemed very mean and it was all too much for me. I did enjoy the last few chapters of the book and how it all wrapped up though.

I super enjoyed this book; it was fun and engaging and also funny. I very much would like to see this turned into a movie because it would be so much fun. The MCs were flawed, but in good ways and all the side characters were great. I was also surprised by the ending. I knew things couldn‘t be simple, but the ending was still a surprise. But in a good way. I hope there‘s more to come!

Enjoyable, fast short read that‘s perfect for the holidays, complete with magic. Lots of tropes on tropes in this, which made for fun reading. However, the big issue to temporarily cause issues comes super late in the book and all of a sudden they‘re happy. I do which we got a little more of the part where they started to actually like each other and they didn‘t just get a happy ending so fast. No work, instant gratification is what it felt like.

This series just keeps getting better! This one was such a fast paced read with plenty of twists and turns. And maybe it was just me, but I felt like there was definitely some comedy in there as well; I could see it all playing out in my mind like a movie or an episode of a tv show. The ending was something I guessed, but also a pleasant surprise for me when I got it right.

Book 1 of a new series and I greatly enjoyed it. There were quite a few mysteries in this, some solved and some unsolved, but all of them were well crafted and reels you in. The characters are all unique, but don‘t have too much depth to them; perhaps that will change as the series progresses. Overall though, a well written start to the series!

This series has gotten better as it‘s gone along! I started out not loving Grants and the dynamics of their relationship, but it‘s really mellowed and the the growth of the characters has been lovely to read. There are plenty of red herrings to keep you guessing and nice twist at the end.

The latest Isabel Puddles has her hopping across the pond to visit Teddy in Cornwall and it is just lovely. Sprinkled with info some Americans might not know from Bob‘s your uncle to the different ways to eat your scone (the Queen has them the Cornish way), this was a delight all around. Can‘t wait to see Teddy back in America!

Overall I enjoyed the book, but the marriage mess was distracting from the rest of the stories. I think it was trying to take too much on all at once. Becca is an emotional mess, with good reason, but being in her head while she's trying to solve a couple of mysteries and her marriage issues was just too much. If we nixed all of her personal issues, this would have been a solid read; the premise is intriguing and the details were good.

The whole book is a vibe, from the gorgeous cover to the spooky gothic mystery. The premise was absolutely intriguing and the story did not disappoint. I could easily put myself into any of the characters places and, as a cozy mystery reader, the mystery was solid.

Enjoyed book 2 more than book 1; this time, while she still jumps to conclusions, it's less often and funnier since everyone mocks her. Actually, this book was really quite funny and I often found myself chuckling to myself. The mystery was quite fun and twisty with a good selection of red herrings to choose from. Definitely cannot wait to see what happens, and who else is introduced, in book 3.

I am really loving this series. Book 2 was just as good as book 1, but was more serious. Which is keeping in line with Diana‘s personality. This one had a fun mystery built in and a sweet ending. Looking forward to seeing what happens with Vee next!

Interesting premise, acceptable follow through. This was twist on a whodunit with a mystery within the mystery. The pace was slow and it was a bit wordier than it really needed to be. Maybe something was lost in translation? I think it had the potential to be a fun and engaging book, if only it wasn't so long and verbose. Cut this down and I would have enjoyed this much more.

Enjoyed the latest addition to the series! She‘s very descriptive and made me want to visit somewhere that actually has a fall and made me super hungry with all of Patty‘s food descriptions. The mystery was solid with a lot of red herrings a nice twist ending. The only thing I still find unnecessary are the few chapters from Yeti‘s perspective.

This was an interesting twist to the series; someone is out to frame Krissy for all sorts of bad things happening in town. I wasn‘t particularly interested in the storyline of who was out to get Krissy and why, but I did enjoy the twists between the pranks and the murder. I did also enjoy the tie between the two. And the characters are always super.
