Book 5
I actually enjoyed this more than I thought that I would. The end took a bit of a left turn but it was light and amusing and I would absolutely recommend as a beach read.
#FallTreasures
I enjoyed this fun book when I read it a couple years ago. I think Amy‘s husband had more of a classic #midlifecrisis when he left her for a younger woman & moved to Hong Kong, but I think her #momspringa trip to NYC is a bit of a cure for Amy‘s own crisis.
Aw, Helen. What a lovely surprise to get this all in the post today. I‘ve been wanting to read this for ages and … Percy Pigs!!!! 🐷 I‘ve not had them for years. I will share them with the kids (I promise). Thanks so much for your thoughtfulness and friendship. You‘re the fab one! Big hugs.
I enjoyed Overdue Life, but it suffered from my own high expectations from the outset, which I realize is entirely my own problem. I‘d been told if I liked Where‘d You Go, Bernadette?, I should read this one. I did…and found it was “not as:” not as funny, narratively creative, sharp (or smart), or layered. And it‘s kind of hard to beat Bernadette as a protagonist. But, had I read it as simply a fun summer read, it would‘ve suited me just fine.
Started this one today. Going to try and get some reading in today because tmrw will be a no go for sure. Spending the day at a BBQ/pool party. Who knows... maybe I'll sneak some listening time in and just be anti-social. Ahhh... the life and struggles of a bookworm.

A intriguing book. 3.5/5 Read for the June #Buzzwordathon - Name/Title
I‘ve read a few “mom‘s need a break” books lately, though not intentionally, but this one was great! It was a bit far fetched, most of us would never have the connections to get to do what Amy did but I enjoyed living it through her!!!! Book 33 in 2021
I'm about at the halfway mark and feel like I'm reading a Hallmark movie. Just interesting enough to keep going, but so cheesy and ridiculous that I keep rolling my eyes. #PrimeReading
Finished this one today but I never really could get into it.
I bought this on my Kindle because someone told me that it mentions Litsy in the story. I find that rather exciting! Can‘t wait to get to that part.
I finished! Amy, a single mom spends the summer in NYC after her husband who left the family returns to try and make amends. She finds a new side of herself while she‘s there and really grows to like this life. Throughout she wrestles with the guilt of taking time for herself and wonders how she is any better than the husband who left his family. The book was good, the parental guilt and the desire for a break would hit home for any parent. 3.75⭐️
I‘ve been listening to this book. The mom guilt that is a prominent aspect of the book, really hits home.
I am not a single mom but I do get the whole feeling as most moms do of the need for a break (especially after a year of quarantine). It was a decent, fun, quick read which is what I need to take a break from the endless pile of academic papers to be read. One more book off my bingo board #bookspin
I actually really enjoyed this. There was the typical insane, maniacal mom thought rants but it turned around a lot in the last 10th of the book and made me forget those fleeting annoyances.
I'm liking this one but tired of mom stories where the MC behaves irrationally bc they are a mother. We get it... Uterine madness for the new generation
I *loved* this book - of course I was always going to do as it‘s set in New York and I knew most of the places mentioned, and it‘s about books (and of course Litsy is in there too!)
Thank you so much for sending it to me Victoria @Birdsong28 - I‘m only sorry it took me a few months to get to it. This was my #bookspin for this month and it‘s been on my bingo card since September but the numbers just didn‘t fall right, until now!
February 7, 2021 Hey Listers!!! She did it again! I finished The Overdue Life of Amy Byler and it was a great book. It is not a romantic comedy but it is a book that many mothers can relate to when they need a break (a short break) from their family. #momspringa
January 29, 2021 Today I finally got my third book I have been waiting for!!!! I have been waiting two whole days because it did not arrive with the other two on Tuesday. Anyway, it came today and I am happy to say that these books are my current TBR.. The Overdue Life of Amy Byler, Verity by Colleen Hoover, and Sorry Not Sorry by Sophie Ranald. Listy readers, I have been trying to get my hands on the Sorry Not Sorry and it went back in stock
Such a fast read for me- as single mom gets the summer opportunity to live #momspringa in NYC. Can relate to so many feelings- freedom in a city while at a educational conference, raising kids by yourself and just needing time to rediscover who you are! #bookspinbingo #litsyatoz

Wow. I really think she did an amazing job taking serious subjects and presenting them in a very well written but fun-to-read way! This made me reflect so much on my own experience of feeling alone in my marriage and my parenting, and my own future as a divorced mom who would prefer not to be alone forever. I think this could also be a great discussion read. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I wanted work to come in. I desperately need to work. Missing my book though!
I just started this in the bath but so far I really like it - light but serious, and funny but not goofy. I hope the enjoyment lasts!
Light decent read. My #doublespin for December @TheAromaofBooks #tbr #readnosedreindeer @StayCurious
This lighthearted contemporary book follows Amy Byler, mother of 2, whose husband returns after a gap of 3 years. John wants to spend time with his children and Amy agrees to go to New York to spend her new-found alone time. I enjoyed this book on supportive fulfilling female friendships, the importance of self-care, and the different aspects of motherhood. There‘s also a reference to Litsy and other bookish stuff as Amy is a school librarian.
Next read, hopefully a much lighter and fun read.
Isn't it lovely when you like the books you get for free on Amazon?
That was the case with this one.
A single mom/librarian/book nerd spends the summer away from her kids in New York City.
Her friend works for a fashion magazine that ends up running a feature on 'momspringa.'
Cute and enjoyable, but not earth-shattering.
PS - The smoke in the picture is just a sad fact of life in my region right now. Grateful we haven't had to leave our home
I loved this book! It even mentioned my beloved Litsy! This is a fun read, especially for us book lovers! I enjoyed Amy‘s journey on her “momspringa” and how she came into herself. Enjoyed the supporting cast of characters as well. Fun and makes me want to visit New York again soon!
“-Some people have to practice forgiveness and will never be naturals. They‘ll either do the work and get awesome at it but always have to think it over- or never do the work and die with a sack of hurts the size of an elephant. I know, because I‘m in danger of being one of those people whenever I stop paying attention.”
Ahhh first time I‘ve seen my beloved Litsy mentioned in a book! I love this book! So many book references!! Which makes sense given that the main character is a school librarian!
This makes 7/25. I‘m not getting a bingo, but I‘m having fun!
This is also my 2nd book for the #AwesomeAugust #readathon.
God, I love reading. :)

This book was so much fun! I liked how it kept telling me (over and over) that I need to take care of myself first before I can take care of anyone else. As someone who dropped everything for her kids, I‘ve never been good at taking care of me. It was really cool to read that I matter too and that it‘s important (necessary!) for me to do things for myself and not put myself last. I‘m glad I read this one. :)
@Jee_HookedOnBookz what a sweet surprise! Thank you so much! It‘s always fun to see what‘s in a package you don‘t think you‘ve ordered! ❤️
Currently reading this one. It‘s fun so far, but I wish I had the audio, since I‘m having to stop to do laundry and vacuum. Bummer!
#AwesomeAugust #readathon #BookSpinBingo :)
This just came in for me at the library! Won‘t be able to pick it up until Saturday because of when curbside pickup is available. I am excited to read it!
So fun and satisfying! Unrealistic in the way the best movies are, where everything falls into place in an almost magical-fairy-godmother-type way...but that's part of the charm! Who wouldn't want all-the-things and their ex's credit card or someone else's business footing the bill!?
I loved that the main character is a librarian and loves books. Litsy was even mentioned! First book I ever read that talked about our beloved app.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Good. Interesting characters and concept. Loved all the literature references. Just thought the twist came a bit late and was rushed in dealing with it.

6-2-20: My 40th finished book of 2020! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #theoverduelifeofamybyler #kellyharms 👍🏼📖#️⃣4️⃣0️⃣
Here‘s my final reward from the #audible 2 for 1 sale! Thanks for an awesome #nutsinMay readathon, Andrew!
A summer in New York City without kids, oh and a hot librarian, what‘s not to love! Fun and refreshing. I could relate to her struggle getting her teen to read. Book 42 4⭐️
(Last line) No we don't think this!
If anything we dread it as it might take away our love for the feel of the book and the journey we take with the characters as we will always go back to how they looked in the movie.
a quick and light read on thee old paperwhite™️ to mix it up! 🤓📚🖤 #theoverduelifeofamybyler #lightread #primereading

I loved this book. Laugh-out loud funny? I‘m not sure...but it‘s as funny as anything I‘ll ever read, and I will admit to a few broad grins, as well as some implied HI-5s. It‘s a romance, chick-lit kind of book, though I do hate limiting a novel by referring to it as the latter. The great thing about Amy Byler‘s life is that the romance she stumbles upon resonates with the title, in that this book is a sort ⬇️
