Sunday is our hygge day. @Chrissyreadit had the wonderful idea of a communal read. Every Sunday between 8-9 pm (your time zone) settle down for a cosy hours reading, knowing you're not alone. We're in it together. 🤗📖🕯☕️
Post a picture of your reading nest and don't forget to tag us. Enjoy x

Two Drag Queen Storytimes were scheduled recently at libraries in neighboring communities. One (Fall River‘s) went swimmingly & one (Bristol‘s) was canceled. While I don‘t support the outright vitriol that‘s being hurled at the latter, I do think that they were wrong to cancel. I hope they take this as a learning opportunity & transform in the important ways they need to. 👇🏻

monalyisha 1/1: One of the comments on Bristol‘s page read, in part, “What is the library going to do to ensure that this bigotry does not affect library operations in the future?” I think *that‘s* the takeaway. (edited) 5y
LibrarianRyan OMG. I run a small library conference. This year we scheduled the cofounder of DQSH national organization to speak. The back lash was unreal. We were not hosting a SH just having someone talk about how it got started. You would have thought I started a civil war. We lost a major sponsor, a committee member quit, and I got pulled into the big bosses office and told to be very careful and to label it a hot topic etc because the ISL 👇🏻 5y
LibrarianRyan Could not take side and could not be seen as pro anything. Plus we couldn‘t tarnish the view of the SOS office. It was a nightmare. The conference was l2 weeks ago. The program was a hit, but I am not allowed to “chair” the conference anymore. I still have to do the work but don‘t get the title. 😤😤😤. All because the committee decided to talk about a hot topic. 😤😤😤😤. Yes I‘m still pi$$ed 5y
