Told from multiple pov‘s, two childhood friends revisit their old summer vacation home for one last summer. Bonny is on the cusp of big life changes, a new job, a new city and divorce. Lainey is still trying to find her mother who abandoned her when she was a child. A bit predictable, not as light hearted as anticipated and not nearly as bookish as the title implies. Mild pick.

This months pick was a recent lucky find at Dollar Tree.
Finished while waiting for my last appointment of the day. I didn‘t like this as much as other Littens.
Thank you to eggs.

Today‘s Prompt: ABANDONED
A summer home that has been left abandoned for years, but a summer home that Bonny now desperately needs to return to regardless of the pain and memories it holds.

Finished this cozy story, about finding oneself, returning to the things in your past, thinking you can recapture the happiness of youth. This was a story about finding who you really are.
And here are the spoils from my library bibliotherapy. I got more books than I can read before they're due (especially since I'm always trying to read my own books, too). But what's bibliotherapy without getting a lot of books??

Flew through another quick audiobook while I was studying and finishing up my #MakersSwap gift. It‘ll be sent out no later than Thursday, just as soon as I can pick up one last thing that I just thought of ☺️ I hope my swapee likes what I put together! @LibrarianRyan
Audiobook 4/30
A nice little summer story, one I didn't have to think too hard on. Light with female friendships and relationships between mother and daughter plus a little bit of romance. I think the #bookclub will have some positive things to say about it tomorrow. 🌊
Had a sweet little lunch all to myself today. Shopped around and ate in a cute bakery following a doctor appointment this afternoon. Still whittling away at this one for #bookclub on Monday. #readandeat #bookishlunch
#bookclub is on Monday and I'm just now starting the selection for June. Seems like it will be a pretty quick read though. Perfect #summervibes so far! 🌊 #ebook #librarybook

SUMMERTIME READ
THE BOOK SHOP AT WATER'S END was a warm, inviting read bringing women together for what we do best - support each other.
This book was a delightful, summer treat.
And who doesn‘t love SUMMER and books about BOOKSHOPS?

A little overwhelmed at the number of Library check outs I have right now. I‘ll probably finish the tagged book today but that still leaves 8, and some are due in just a few days. Good thing I can simply put them back on hold.
Starting this today as it‘s due soonest.
“I wanted to be done with the crying and the needing and the wanting and the disasters. But something told me that I would never be done with those things. They were right there mixed up the good and the laughter and the beauty and the magic.”

Just finished listening to this one while knitting. I liked it not perfect but good. It had a slow lazy feel like a hot South Carolina day. It is all about mistakes and trying to over come them and finding yourself again.
Started listening to this I e a couple of days ago. Cute, fun, relaxing, and interesting so far! Makes me want summer! And we are getting snow her on Saturday. #readyforsummer
“...sharing one book had allowed us to understand a bit about each other and form friendships.”
There‘s nothing like bonding over a book☺️
“Books. They were the only place in the world where I could be Piper and not Piper at the same time. I didn‘t have to leave myself, but I could be someone else entirely, without the hangover. ... I wanted to unzip myself and let the real Piper out to go find another life. And I could do that in a story—a good one, anyway.”
“So glad to be in a cozy bookshop, in air-conditioned comfort, surrounded by stories...to find that in the chaos of the world there was still a place like this. A place where books were piled to the ceiling and tables were crowded with the paraphernalia of reading: bookmarks, reading lights, stationary, pens and framed quotes to inspire.”
“We are defined by the moods and whims of a wild tidal river surrounding our small town, cradling us in its curved basin.”
I ‘cheated‘ a little here and edited the post now that I‘ve been hooked by #LitsyChallenges so apologies if you seen this post before

Thwarted plans, connections to people, to places; these are the ways the universe guides us with impeccable timing to where we need to be.
I listened to this on audio. It's a sweet relationship book. It's a great book about small towns. It's a classic coming of age tale. It makes the reader long for place. I read it at the right time for me. The alternating perspectives of the mother and college age teen daughter gave voice to my fears and hopes. It touched me in reminding me many loving mom's and daughters don't understand each other.
I was beginning to think I was going to have to give up reading chick-lit altogether as I‘ve either been underwhelmed by or loathed almost every book I‘ve read in this genre this year. Not so with this story of three women who come together at a river house to try to change their lives and reconcile their pasts. I liked the characters and cared about what happened to them.
This book was what I needed after my last read. I did not expect it to be as good as it was. A light easy story and book. The author writes well, can really turn a phrase, but.... I was looking for the "hook" and did not find it. I often do this after reading a really good book, the next one isn't great. I still thought the story was good, the characters well written and relatable. I wish I liked it more.

"The soul needs story and meaning to help us endure this life."
What a wonderful end-of-summer read! Small beach-town setting. Multiple perspectives. Mother and daughters. Best friends. Older women befriending younger women. A mysterious event from the past. New and old romances. And a bookshop right in the center of it all. Lots of bookish references, although I could have used even more. And lyrical, thoughtful writing. Just right...
Trying to squeeze in a couple more summer-y reads before September is here! This is one of them. Good so far!
