so-soTook a break from reading Bridgeton series and It was Meh! At the end of the book it asks if you think everyone was equally to blame and no I think they took advantage of Laura for being young and Naive. Although it was frustration how she caught feelings so quickly but again young naive. Dominic should have known better than to take advantage of Laura. I understand Alex 's need to protect his child from Ruth but he also went about it horribly
so-soI think it was just way too long to be good. Didn‘t make for a fast paced story.
pickI finished all but 20 pages of this book last night so I‘m counting it on my July #bookspinbingo board 😜. I enjoyed this mystery but not quite as much as I was expecting. Towards the end I was really just trying to finish so I could see how all the pieces finally fit together. I will say that it was quite descriptive and did make it easy to really see the action in my head. I will definitely read more by the author in the future! 🌟🌟🌟
pickFinding a photo taken the day she was born- the same day her mother later killed herself- Seraphine is filled with questions. If her mother was miserable enough for suicide why does she look so peaceful and happy? Why is there only one baby in the picture & is it her or her twin brother? Suddenly filled with questions about her family's history, & her own, she starts looking for answers. Danger and a great deal of melodrama ensures. This was ⬇️
pickSolid thriller. I figured out the general outline of the twist/reveal about halfway through, but there were a lot of details that still surprised me in the end.
The writing is competent, but isn't going to win any awards (lots of descriptions of dilated pupils - weird, but whatever). Still, it was enjoyable way to pass the time as I sat in the jury pool room for a few hours on a cloudy Wednesday morning!
I came across this in some “best of” sort of list and couldn‘t not pick it up! It sounds REALLY good! Taking it with me on my vacation in a few weeks!
so-soI predicted one of the big twists, but was surprised by some of the smaller ones. It verges on a little too unbelievable at times, but for the most part, it kept me engaged. 3⭐️

pickEasy, breezy, weekend reading. A healthy dose of domestic drama, parts more realistic and believable than others. Consistently paced enough to keep the pages turning. I don‘t regret reading this.

pickLoved this book! Especially liked the second half. Found myself trying to sneak in extra time to read because I thought I had it figured out and wanted to know if I was right. I was but I still liked the story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I found this book to be a bit unbelievable. so-so book!

pickThis was a super quick read that kept me hooked. While it did fall prey to some mystery tropes, I didn't mind, as I was having so much fun trying to figure out what was happening.
Restarting this one, since the audiobook is due in 3 days. Last time I started it I was way too sleepy to be able to focus on the details. 😅#TeamSlaughter
pickThis was a fast read for me and a gripping one too! I did guess some of the ending but it didn't spoil it for me! #thrillers #books
pickSome oddly placed sentences in this story made it obvious how parts of this mystery would resolve. However, other twists kept me engaged. Overall, it was a fun way to kick off placing priority on some mysteries and thrillers during the upcoming month.
pickI have to recommend this book simply because I couldn‘t put it down. While I predicted the majority of how it would wrap up, I was still left surprised by one of the twists, and I loved the characters telling alternating chapters.
While one chapter is told in the past by Laura, the summer au pair for the young Edwin, the other is told in the present by Seraphine, Edwin‘s younger sister.
I really don‘t want to give anything away - just read it!
pickEeek! I kept snapping at my family today because they were interrupting the last few chapters of The Au Pair and I was so engrossed. This book took me on a journey through emotions and what-would-I-do thoughts. It felt like a tangled mess and for some reason I kept thinking of the old movie Mystic Pizza while reading. I did kinda see things pulling together at points but was so into the story I kept hiding from my family in effort to finish. 4.5☆
so-soIt kept me interested, but I really hated all the characters except for Edwin. I was a bit confused about the ending, specifically regarding Vera.
pickThis was a really interesting read full of twists and turns. The story is told by Seraphine in the present and Laura in the past when everything happened. Its cleverly written and builds to a dramatic ending. I figured out some of the secrets but one or two took me by surprise. It does make you think about how you would react in that situation.
I liked Seraphine, she was an interesting character.

I'm not exactly liking this book, but I can't seem to put it down either. I really should be packing for my Denver trip, but it's just so much easier to laze on the couch with my Kindle.
On a bit of a mystery kick these days. Happy to be on the couch, under the AC, with only the cats to bother me.
panThe first 75% was just perfect for summer reading but after that it went to pieces. The Big Twists are pretty easy to predict and then they spend what feels like a million pages slowly over explaining what you already know. About 25 pages from the end I just quit. Also, I‘ve had a baby. No way two women give birth at home, unassisted, and then one of them runs around for hours and no one is like, hey, you sure are bleeding like A LOT.
Just got this from the library and I‘m so excited to start it! #supportlocallibraries
pickThe Au Pair is a page turner! I liked how the story got the reader involved right away and was nonstop suspense from there. There were many times, I found myself whispering, “WTF is going on!?”

panI loved the cover of this book. It's what drew me in, and the first 75% percent of the book was exciting and gripping. But as a mother, I find it impossible that two women could give birth on the same day, in the same home, unassisted. Then, that Laura's babies were pre-mature and neither needed hospital care? And why didn't the police officers notice that there were two birth locations that needed cleaning? Yikes.
pick🙌🏻 I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this book! Read it in half a day - couldn‘t put it down. Mystery, thriller, fiction. It truly answers the question “who is the child, and what really happened that day?”, except with a twist at the end; it took a bit more concentration the last 1/5 of the book. SO MUCH HAPPENS. Would definitely recommend 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5

I will freely admit this-I only read “The Au Pair” because I thought the cover was pretty 🤷🏻♀️ It‘s a decent mystery about explosive family secrets, the kind of book that‘s a blast to dig into and race to solve the mysteries before the characters do. Unfortunately the ending is...not great. I had a problem with the convoluted reveals but “The Au Pair” was still a fine way to pass a lazy morning. Just don‘t expect more.
This book has nothing to do with spring, but I am enjoying it on the first day of spring. I put up this wreath a few weeks ago to help get rid of winter. The snow is melting and the temps are getting better, so it must be working?

so-soAn easy read with a good story line however, it didn‘t blow me away. Some of the characters decisions throughout the story were questionable. It did keep me guessing until the end but was expecting a little bit more from this one.
