A wonderful collection of poems from many of her books. Loved it!
I got the most amazing gift today from someone who knows I love MO!
I'm such a mood reader. I usually have several books going at once because I never know what I'll be in the mood to read. Trying to decide between some more Mary Oliver poetry & our #mgbuddyread book for this month. One thing I didn't have trouble deciding on was my birthday freebie from Starbucks 😉
Hands down, this is the best poetry book I‘ve read in years. I‘m incredibly impressed. I only wish I had read her poetry earlier. She has so much depth and wisdom, and there‘s a quietness in these poems that both calms and inspires me. Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!! #poetry
A lovely article on Mary Oliver by Sarah Todd https://qz.com/quartzy/1528207/what-poet-mary-oliver-can-teach-us-about-dealing-...
As a Christmas present, my wife bought me two custom-made suits. On the inside lining near the pocket, I chose this quote by Mary Oliver.
The whole quote is:
Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.
(You can read the full poem here http://alturl.com/cxdt9)
With her passing, I am deeply saddened and feel like we have lost something very special. Her wisdom, insight, and deep love for the world will be missed.
When reading the NY Times article about Mary Oliver‘s death, I was struck by how much I LOVE the accompanying photo. It feels like she‘s looking right into me (& bringing me the peace of sitting on a comfy couch, in the sunlight, with my hand resting in a slumbering dog‘s curly fur). I think I‘m going to print it out & put it in my office. It, along with the photo of Vonnegut above, are what I consider to be the #bestauthorphotos. Show me yours!
A Reader's Corner Highly Recommended read. There is no living poet I love more than Mary Oliver. Her poetry is so beautiful and always makes me feel good. If you can read Mary Oliver and still say you hate poetry - I just can't even. This is a book I will read from every day and so should you. Buy this book, read this book, discover the beauty of nature, and the beauty of poetry written by a master of language.
Evidently I‘ve been living under a rock, and only today realized this was happening! I‘ve strayed away from poetry and need to get back into it. Since April is National Poetry Month, it seems appropriate to jump back into it with this challenge. I have several poetry books by Mary Oliver, but I‘ve never read anything by Alice Oswald or Tracy K. Smith. Looking forward to it! #poetrychallenge2018
