A Wrinkle in Time Trilogy
A Wrinkle in Time Trilogy | Madeleine L'Engle
Fifty years ago, Madeleine L'Engle introduced the world to A Wrinkle in Time and the wonderful and unforgettable characters Meg and Charles Wallace Murry, and their friend Calvin O'Keefe. Now their first three adventures are together in one volume. Praise for A WRINKLE IN TIME "A book that every young person should read, a book that provides a road map for seeking knowledge and compassion even at the worst of times, a book to make the world a better place." Cory Doctorow Praise for A WIND IN THE DOOR "Madeleine L'Engle mixes classical theology, contemporary family life, and futuristic science fiction to make a completely convincing tale that should put under its spell both readers familiar with the Murrys and those meeting them for the first time." The New York Times Book Review Praise for A SWIFTLY TILTING PLANET "Charles Wallace, now 15, Meg, and the Murrys reappear in an intricately woven fantasy in which the boy time-spins through a tangle of history to find and mend the broken link that threatens to disturb the harmony of today. Theme is L'Engle's greatest forte and once again she proves this with a compelling plot, rich in style that vibrates with provocative thoughts on universal love, individual caring, and the need for the joy in living." The book Wrinkle in time is a sort of turning point in children‘s intellectual lives. And also really ends up being beneficial, being labeled as a science fiction story it has some science significance. In a Wrinkle In Time Meg‘s father an eminent physicist, has been missing for two years. She discovers that her father is not the invincible protector she thought he was. She must not only come to terms with this realization, but find a way to

Ms.Bursey rescue them both. The book is definitely a good literature circle book and should be discussed in small group. #lae3414spr19 5y

A Wrinkle in Time, written by Madeleine L‘Engle, is a classic (SF) book that was just made into a successful movie. A Wrinkle in Time won a Newbery Medal as well as may other awards. This book is a story of family, friendship, mystery, adventure, and science! This book would be great for students in grades 6-9 and used in LC.

WoodsKatie The book satisfies UDL guidelines 9.1 and 9.3 as well as ESOL strategies 5 and 8. I found a lesson that has 5 lessons included for 6th grade, which is the grade I am most interested in. https://www.readworks.org/lessons/grade6/wrinkle-time #LAE3414sp19 5y

This SF book by Madeline L‘Engle is a Newbery Award Winner. This would great read as a LC because peers can sit down and talk about what was read every couple chapters. Meg and her brother adventure through time and space to rescue her father. This is a story that children would enjoy reading and talking about with their peers. https://www.rif.org/literacy-central/book/wrinkle-time this link gives you word searches and puzzles about the book.

taywise393 This link is super fun for students because it is puzzles that are all about the book. What kid doesn‘t like computer games?! Madeline won a Newbery award for this book! The ESOL accommodations that align are 13 and 46. The UDL principles are 1.1 and 2.5 because of the way information is displayed. #LAE3414SP19 (edited) 5y
wmaxflowers I liked how your lesson plan had multiple activities for students. I think the book review activities would be particularly impactful. (edited) 5y

I stood in line for an hour with temps in the 30‘s to get a five dollar gift card, a tote bag, and 20% off everything for being one of the first 100 in line. 😂 I was hoping to get the bag with a 100 dollar gift card, but hey 5 bucks and an hour got me a lot. #blackfriday #bookobessed #halfpricebooks

All in all I honestly liked the movie more than the book (first time I ever said that). But I feel like for me the book was so hard to picture, and the movie made it so much easier. If it were me I think I would probably show the movie in my class first and than read the book for the students to compare so they can have a better mental image of what they are reading.

A Wrinkle in Time is an exciting book about adventure, friendship, and of course family. It is an exciting science fiction book that will give students a combination of science and a cool fantasy world! There are a lot of science vocabulary in this book so a good UDL would be 2.1 and to follow along with that EL # 14. Some TS that would work well with this book would be RA, LC, GR, PR, and IR. Here is some great lesson plans!

A Wrinkle in Time, science fiction, John Newberry Medal. A high school aged girl, Meg Murry, goes on an adventure with her brother and friend to rescue her father, who is being held on another planet by evil forces. Meg and friends will travel through the fifth dimension to find her dad. This is a great LC book for students to read together and talk about Megs experience and how she has to go through the troubles to find her dad.

UDL 8.3, foster collaboration and community. Students should be actively discussing this book as they read, especially in literature circles. UDL, 3.1 activate or supply background knowledge. Before beginning the book it is important for students to know this book is scie

Jenniferj11419 ience fiction, the events in this book do not actually happen in real life. ESOL strategy 2, promote collaboration. I would consider using literature circles, this book has plenty of events to discuss. ESOL strategy 6, continually monitor students comprehension. This book could be challenging for some students to follow, I think it is important to keep up with the literature circles and progress.

Just finished this quick read on audio about beloved author Madeleine L'Engle. It's amazing how many biographical elements expressed in her journals that one would find in her much loved trilogy. The biography was written by her dear granddaughters❤️ I will be teaching this novel to my middle schoolers and now I have some deeper author information to share with them📚

I‘m not sure that I read this as a child, though I know that I had a copy. I enjoyed the story (this review is for the first book in the trilogy) and loved the character Meg. I can certainly understand why it‘s a classic!

I‘m curious to hear about the other two books from those of you who‘ve read the trilogy. (Wikipedia tells me it‘s actually a quintet.)

A SF novel that teaches us the importance to believe in ourselves and that the power of love can bring us home. Meg has gone to find her father with the help of her brother Charles Wallace and friend Calvin. They encounter some unlikely friends that help them overcome their self doubt and the evil “IT”. A Wrinkle in Time, written by Madeleine L'Engle, is a SF book that won the Newbery Medal and would be good for IR or a LC.
