A Wrinkle in Time Trilogy
A Wrinkle in Time Trilogy | Madeleine L'Engle
Fifty years ago, Madeleine L'Engle introduced the world to A Wrinkle in Time and the wonderful and unforgettable characters Meg and Charles Wallace Murry, and their friend Calvin O'Keefe. Now their first three adventures are together in one volume. Praise for A WRINKLE IN TIME "A book that every young person should read, a book that provides a road map for seeking knowledge and compassion even at the worst of times, a book to make the world a better place." —Cory Doctorow Praise for A WIND IN THE DOOR "Madeleine L'Engle mixes classical theology, contemporary family life, and futuristic science fiction to make a completely convincing tale that should put under its spell both readers familiar with the Murrys and those meeting them for the first time." —The New York Times Book Review Praise for A SWIFTLY TILTING PLANET "Charles Wallace, now 15, Meg, and the Murrys reappear in an intricately woven fantasy in which the boy time-spins through a tangle of history to find and mend the broken link that threatens to disturb the harmony of today. Theme is L'Engle's greatest forte and once again she proves this with a compelling plot, rich in style that vibrates with provocative thoughts on universal love, individual caring, and the need for the joy in living." —Booklist, starred review

The book Wrinkle in time is a sort of turning point in children‘s intellectual lives. And also really ends up being beneficial, being labeled as a science fiction story it has some science significance. In a Wrinkle In Time Meg‘s father an eminent physicist, has been missing for two years. She discovers that her father is not the invincible protector she thought he was. She must not only come to terms with this realization, but find a way to

Ms.Bursey rescue them both. The book is definitely a good literature circle book and should be discussed in small group. #lae3414spr19 3mo

A Wrinkle in Time, written by Madeleine L‘Engle, is a classic (SF) book that was just made into a successful movie. A Wrinkle in Time won a Newbery Medal as well as may other awards. This book is a story of family, friendship, mystery, adventure, and science! This book would be great for students in grades 6-9 and used in LC.

WoodsKatie The book satisfies UDL guidelines 9.1 and 9.3 as well as ESOL strategies 5 and 8. I found a lesson that has 5 lessons included for 6th grade, which is the grade I am most interested in. https://www.readworks.org/lessons/grade6/wrinkle-time #LAE3414sp19 3mo

This SF book by Madeline L‘Engle is a Newbery Award Winner. This would great read as a LC because peers can sit down and talk about what was read every couple chapters. Meg and her brother adventure through time and space to rescue her father. This is a story that children would enjoy reading and talking about with their peers. https://www.rif.org/literacy-central/book/wrinkle-time this link gives you word searches and puzzles about the book.

taywise393 This link is super fun for students because it is puzzles that are all about the book. What kid doesn‘t like computer games?! Madeline won a Newbery award for this book! The ESOL accommodations that align are 13 and 46. The UDL principles are 1.1 and 2.5 because of the way information is displayed. #LAE3414SP19 (edited) 4mo

So, I woke up early this morning (after being out shopping most of the night) and drove 30 minutes to the nearest half price books. I stood in line for an hour with temps in the 30‘s to get a five dollar gift card, a tote bag, and 20% off everything for being one of the first 100 in line. 😂 I was hoping to get the bag with a 100 dollar gift card, but hey 5 bucks and an hour got me a lot. #blackfriday #bookobessed #halfpricebooks

Started this today and I‘m just not in love with it. Not sure what to do about that. Everyone I talk totally adores it so I‘m feeling a bit weird about that.....thoughts?

sebrittain I reread it recently, and I think some of the love is nostalgia. I still enjoyed it, but the story was different from what I remembered, and all my favorite parts happened much later in the book than I had recalled. 11mo
LazyDays Its a YA book for 3 decades, it wasn't my favorite as a kid. Reading YA books as a adult is hard for me also. I think I over judge the book and don't take it from a kids innocent point. I little long but I hope that helps💞📚 11mo
mutlee I keep telling myself I need to reread this. I remember loving it as a kid, but that was so long ago that I wonder how I‘d feel about it now. 11mo

rubyslippersreads I found it too unsettling as a kid and liked it better as an adult. 11mo
ErinSueGreads @sebrittain good to know the favorites are later. I‘m going to finish it because it‘s a bucket list read and is so short. 11mo
ErinSueGreads @LazyDays I used to read a ton of YA but my tastes just aren‘t swinging that way lately. I think that is a lot of the problem. I don‘t really love the narrator either so that could be some of it too. 11mo
ErinSueGreads @mutlee might be worth just keeping the nostalgia based on what everyone else is staying. I‘ve ruined children‘s books by rereading many times. 11mo
ErinSueGreads @Aluciddreamer what did your son think of it? Rough age range? I‘m just really curious about the appeal on this one. I mean it won‘t a newberry but still 11mo
ErinSueGreads @rachelk I‘d be curious if it was different reading out loud, versus audiobook, versus reading to yourself. 11mo
ErinSueGreads @rubyslippersreads I could absolutely see how it would be so unsettling as a kid and I‘ve read all of Neil gaimans kids books. So that‘s saying something. 11mo
rachelk @ErinSueG That‘s a good question. I don‘t know because that‘s the only way I ever experienced it. I did read her the entire Harry Potter series out loud and we both adored those books. I feel like HP set the bar pretty high. 11mo
ErinSueGreads @rachelk that‘s an excellent point. Maybe Harry Potter is just ruining all generations with unreachable standards 😂😂 11mo
RedbagReadbooks @ErinSueG he is 13 almost 14. He did like the book up until the end. The book may have been better had we kept reading into the next book. 11mo
tracey38 I haven't read it but my sister and I are going to see the movie outside in the park tomorrow night. 11mo
jmofo I reread it last summer because I knew I had read it as a kid but I couldn‘t remember it. I don‘t remember it now, even though I just reread it...However, I found a pretty interesting article written by a crip activist who found it reassuring as a read for her, as an autistic young girl. 11mo
erank58 I DNFd this at least twice when I was in middle school. I picked it up this year thinking I'd like it better as an adult...this time I got through the book but wasn't thrilled one bit 😴 just wasn't for me! 11mo
watermelontaco13 When i was a kid I looooovved it. But re-read it as an adult and couldn‘t get past the first 2 chapters. 11mo
sylviemanaster I was not a fan of the book but I loved everything about Meg. 11mo

All in all I honestly liked the movie more than the book (first time I ever said that). But I feel like for me the book was so hard to picture, and the movie made it so much easier. If it were me I think I would probably show the movie in my class first and than read the book for the students to compare so they can have a better mental image of what they are reading.

A Wrinkle in Time is an exciting book about adventure, friendship, and of course family. It is an exciting science fiction book that will give students a combination of science and a cool fantasy world! There are a lot of science vocabulary in this book so a good UDL would be 2.1 and to follow along with that EL # 14. Some TS that would work well with this book would be RA, LC, GR, PR, and IR. Here is some great lesson plans!

A Wrinkle in Time, science fiction, John Newberry Medal. A high school aged girl, Meg Murry, goes on an adventure with her brother and friend to rescue her father, who is being held on another planet by evil forces. Meg and friends will travel through the fifth dimension to find her dad. This is a great LC book for students to read together and talk about Megs experience and how she has to go through the troubles to find her dad.

I was infatuated with the way Meg & Charles Wallace traveled between worlds. This series is what truly turned me into a voracious reader. I was swept away! #marchmadness @Smangela

APLitlife It was the book that began my love for reading also. 2y
Smangela Oh my gosh did you see they're making a movie?? 2y
Lmstraubie @Smangela YES! 🙆 They actually made one years ago, but it just didn't catch the book's essence. I'm hoping they do a much better job this time. 2y

After lots of lingering looks at this one in my local indie comic shop, I had to pick it up. Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which are always just there, waiting, and it brings me so much joy to experience this story in another medium!

Barely remembered this from when a kid, but had never gone past the first book (there are five of them!). An excellent read. I am loving this journey through L'Engle's universe!

If I could just have these shelves of B&N leatherbound classics shipped right to my home, thanks.
