pickGrim, savage, and mesmerizing in the way you don‘t want to put it down. This is a page turnerβconsistently grippingβwith prose that is clear but never simple, and somehow feels shot with truth all through it. The Cormac McCarthy comparisons are common here, but with the violence, dust, and even vendettas, it gave me a mood of Tarantino as well.

pickThis was a brutal story. A boy flees abuse into a landscape of hunger and thirst. It was amazing.
pickCarrasco‘s content and style feels like Cormac McCarthy. Out in the Open is a mix of The Road and Blood Meridian.
pickThis is Carrasco's debut novel translated from Spanishβa great read about a boy who is fleeing from an evil man chasing him. Kind of similar to The Road and Signs Preceding the End of the World. It's a bit dystopian and a bit western at the same time. I could really picture this boy's struggles throughout. It's set in an unknown landscape in an unknown timeframe, painting a stark portrait of survival, fear, loneliness, and trust in society. π
Evening plans. Reading outside tonight since it's so gorgeous today! I'm not sure what to think of this book yet but I'm intrigued. It's about a boy trying to cross the plains in a dystopian world when he's being sought out. Interesting premise! #booksnbucks
Somehow I read 23 books this month π΅ I finished up The Falling Kingdoms series except for the last one that isn't out yet. I read 2 graphic novels and listened to 2 audiobooks.
These were my favorites this month. I am so glad that I got to read Artemis before it comes out. I'll definitely buy a copy and read it again it was so fun.
I liked When The English Fell but the ending was kind of meh - I felt like it built up a lot and nothing happened

pickCompelling story, well written. If you enjoyed The Road by Cormac McCarthy I would recommend this; if not steer clear.

Really enjoying this one- reminds me a lot of The Road, which I love!
October was not a great month for me. For a whole month I've been struggling with reading slump so I look forward to November and that I will find the book which going to completely turn and swept me away into the unknown.π
pickDark tale about a young boy on the run, struggling to survive in a harsh environment. It's atmospheric, violent and emotional story with very detailed, realistic and rich language.
