I have made a shortlist that includes books I own and have not read yet, books I want to re-read, and books I will be reading for my new book club.
I love adding new books to my TBR, but it‘s so overwhelming to have a three- or four-digit number. So making a shortlist is my way of focusing on what I want to read in the upcoming weeks and months 📚
How do you organize your TBR? Do you use Goodreads? Tell me about your methods 💙💚

CouronneDhiver I have the unread books on my shelves + my Litsy TBR (which I just tidied up a few days ago). That‘s all. 😊 6y

The best part of my day was finding these two in a little free library / book box 📚
A Gathering Light is not my usual genre – it‘s a murder mystery and I‘m a wimp 😂 But the plots of both sounded interesting and I like the covers, so I gave them a new home 🙃
Have you read either? Happy Wednesday 💙

Four ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ reads! I am one lucky girl. August was a great month! 📚
I‘m excited to see what the rest of the year will bring since I won‘t be working full-time anymore. I‘ll be in school, so I‘m hoping to get lots more reading done! Can I get to 24 books for 2018? I sure will try 🤞🏽

The selection for the upcoming months is incredible! I‘ve read Americanah & Eleanor Oliphant; the rest I cannot wait to check out.
Besides moving in with my boyfriend & going back to school for an English degree (aka fulfilling my dream), this book club might be my favorite thing about my new chapter in life 😍📚
Related to this, I‘m excited to check out my new library. If they don‘t have the picks, I‘ll just have to buy them 😜🤷🏽‍♀️

JanuarieTimewalker13 I loved The Immortalists! I also need to read The Keeper if Lost Things, it was WildeReads favorite, I believe, last year. Dave is a Booktuber from the UK who(m)? I follow. 6y

I am sooo excited to try this out. Being a part of a book club has been something I‘ve been wanting to try for pretty much my entire life. I cannot wait to meet new people & talk to them about my favorite thing – books!

Tenth of December: Stories | George Saunders

I have a hard time abandoning books because I always want to give them enough chances. Maybe I‘ll like them after the second half or so? But with so many outstanding books, I need to prioritize and only read what I love.
So I‘m saying goodbye to Tenth of December by George Saunders after 50 pages 👋🏽 I‘m not a big fan of short stories anyway, and I have a TBR full of promising reads.
What‘s your take on not finishing books you don‘t love?

Lindy If I don‘t love at least some aspect of a book, I have no problem abandoning it after 50 pages. 6y

The writing in this book was beautiful. Long sentences, sometimes chaotic but that made them all the more meaningful. I often read a paragraph again to fully understand it and make sure I didn‘t miss anything. The story itself was compelling and well-written. A quick read that didn‘t lack depth ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

night_shift I listened to the audiobook. It's a weird read. Apparently, from stuff I read about the author after I finished listening it's some allegory about south Korea, but I don't really know anything about the place except I like the food, so I think the message was lost on me. 7y

Hi friends!
I've been using the app Bookout to track my reading, but I've run into a little problem: when I start a reading session, the session will automatically pause as soon as my display turns off (after three minutes) 😐
Has anyone else experienced it and knows how to fix this? I could change my settings to not have my display automatically turn off, but that's pretty annoying...

I'm learning to set realistic goals, in all areas of life.
In 2015 I read 27 books & in 2016 I read 32. But both those goals were all over the place & I kept adjusting them throughout the year based on my progress 🙄
••
I decided that in 2017, I want to read 30 books. That's 2.5 books per month & I believe that's doable. Should I read more than that, even better 📖
••
Do you set yourself book goals? Do they motivate you or do they frustrate you?

Smrloomis I set a new and (for me) ridiculously high goal this year. I think it will be motivating but if not, I'll just scale it back. I like that you can change it after you make it! 7y
read.run.travel @Smrloomis I generally do like the option of changing your goal on Goodreads as well, but I've found it makes me feel less accountable and I tend to think less about my goal before setting it. So this year, I'm just going to pretend I can't change it and it's set in stone 😀🤗 7y
