ReadingOver50 Great title! 1y
gilroyc I'm actually leaning toward bailing on this. The POV is unstable and the opening purple prose put me on edge. 1y

I enjoy a good mystery. Always have since I watched scooby doo and read Nancy Drew. So next one to try.

Every year I have a little fun. I create a poll of the books I read the previous year and see if others have ever read those same books. 2020 was a pitiable year (only 32 books) but here's the poll for 2020:

And in case people missed it, here's the 2019 poll:

A little leery about this book. First chapter feels like this is going to be a not so subtle push for a philosophy disguised as fiction.

ImperfectCJ I found this one to be a solid introduction, and I also enjoyed the tagged book. The techniques in both come in quite handy in pandemic times. 2y

Bailedbailed

There are fantasy books with a romance thread/theme. Then there are romance books with a fantasy setting. This definitely is the latter and just not for me. Ugh.

julesG That's a very nice review of this book. I think I was harsher when I read it for #DickSoapGate 3y

I've finished listening but I feel like this book has a lot to unpack before I can be honest with a rating...

marleed I googled some of the author interviews leading up to and following the release of the book. My opinion of the book did change after seeing her interviewed. (edited) 3y
gilroyc @marleed in a good way or a bad way? 3y
marleed Oh in a good way. I tend to read this type of memoir with memories of a silly personal affront I took when reading James Fry A million little pieces. I now read them as auto-fiction. But in her interviews I understand her perspective as very real to her even if other family members remember differently. She is very stoic and well-spoken. And she‘s introduced a very important conversation. 3y
gilroyc I agree she definitely opens an important conversation. 3y
