“I‘m starting to wonder if this is what being in love is. Being okay with ripping yourself to shreds, so the other person can stay whole.” 💔

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I‘ve just wrapped up The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood. OH MY GOSH I didn‘t expect to feel so deeply for a for a grumpy professor and a sunshine in denial PhD student… ✨
It‘s witty and nerdy 🤓 I would definitely recommend if you love a contemporary romance ❤️🔥
#bookreview #nerdy #romance

I don‘t expect a lot out of romance books, but I wish characters would communicate better. Of course, then there would be no conflict to getting them together, so no plot. The fake-dating premise of this story, set in the academic research world is good, & I‘ll most likely try Hazelwood‘s other books. Enjoyed the side characters, too.

After finishing the very intense Dark Verse series by Runyx, I figured I needed to read something uplifting and this fit the bill. I loved this!! I must've laughed in almost all the chapters. The dialogue was amusing and relatable with good banter. The characters are loveable and witty. By the end of the book, my face hurt from laughing, and my heart was warm and fuzzy. I highly recommend this to anyone!

My November #bookspin and #doublespin picks! Both have been on my TBR/bedside table for AGES and I‘m excited to move them into my “Read” column.
In the month of giving thanks, Sarah, I‘d like you to know that I‘m so thankful for you hosting this challenge…I look forward to it every month! Happy Thanksgiving!

If The Love Hypothesis was the first Ali Hazelwood book you read and it put you off her for life, I honestly wouldn‘t blame you… but I would gently encourage you to check out some of her later work. Books like Not In Love bear very little resemblance to this amateurish mess. Full review: https://keepingupwiththepenguins.com/the-love-hypothesis-ali-hazelwood-review/

The casting announcement for the movie was so funny that it pushed this up to the top of my reading pile… and I had a great time. I should read more contemporary romances was my main takeaway.

Love this book!!! The characters were so cute and believable. Rated the book a 4 out of 5 stars.
I loved this. Adam is great. The self-aware fake dating is funny (albeit occasionally pushed me into embarrassment squick territory). The fact that Olive is demisexual (though the term is never used) is pretty cool.
It does illustrate why I will never do a PhD, though.

Did not pack my pockets very well this morning and have left home without my AirPods 😫

7-5-25: My 45th finished book of 2025! After a kiss just for show, Dr. Adam Carlson and PH.d student Olive, embark on a fake dating situation that will help them both with outside issues. But what about the issues inside themselves? Women in STEM is a big part of what this book covers. That and falling for someone you shouldn‘t. It was less steamy than the last Hazelwood and more deep thoughts. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣4️⃣5️⃣

Frankly, Olive was a bit on the fence about this whole grad school thing.

First Ali Hazelwood

This book is pornographic. The first third is just ackward, but it gets a lot worse. People that gave it a high rating didn't get to the part where Olive's professor betrays her trust and engages in inappropiate unwanted activity. He never gets incarcerated for it. He continues to abuse her throughout the rest of the book. It's traumatic and shallow and it doesn't deserve the rating it is given. I will never buy another Ali Hazelwood book.

Such a great build up! Spicy too! Thoroughly enjoyed the realistic take on the world of research!

This was super cute and a great read. I‘m really enjoying Ali Hazelwood romances. I‘m skipping the second in the series bc I‘ve seen some strong pan reviews and don‘t want the series to be ruined for me. If people think it was worth the read let me know!
Book 41 of 2024

This was such a cute romance. I loved that the main character was a woman in science and how it pushed for women in STEM. The love story was super cute and it flowed effortlessly
Believe this is my favorite of Ali‘s books. I adored both mc‘s. Felt real, in how they spoke throughout the fake dating and the way around work. My biggest complaint is her being a grad student, him a lead lab. But the “old man jokes” were hilarious and added much to the bickering. Loved how supportive everyone was, though Olive‘s work struggles and that jerk. Gasped aloud with the way Adam reacted. Damn, I like this man.

4✨This was another great romantic comedy from this author. I‘m becoming a quick fan. A young lady is working to make a difference in pancreatic cancer research and work toward her PhD. While a jerk of a professor is trying to keep his funding flowing in. They struck a deal to pretend date for their diverse needs. Really funny and I fell in love with the characters romance. Could have done without some details about their intimacy.

The depiction of academia in this book is sadly accurate, but it‘s even more mean in real life.
Olive fake dates a tenured professor and is just shocked when things get complicated for her at work. I really didn‘t like how toxic her friendships seemed to be and I didn‘t like Olive either. Adam was a super researcher which I loved, he was the only character I liked.
2/5 stars read for accurate academic setting but lame characters
The cover of this book looks cute, and the beginning is cute, but it gets dark. Olive fake dates her professor, and that turns into forced marriage and se* she doesn‘t want. Don‘t buy this pornography book!

This is a really cute, easy to read romcon book.
It has a lot of tropes, fake-dating, grumpy/sunshine, shared room, etc.
I would rec this to anyone looking for a fast but entertaining read

Havent read much romance lately so i thought i would try Ali Hazelwood for a change. Really enjoyed the academic setting and the light humorous writing style. The set-up has lots of tropes but it has a sense of humour about using them. Im often wary of the “young girl whose life is chaotic” character falling for “older more successful cold guy ” but Hazelwood makes it clear that Olive is driven & successful too & she instigates most action.

Finished my book club pick!
Super enjoyable; gave me all the feels!
The writing was super easy to read.
Loved the awkward situations; plenty of LOL moments!
Can‘t wait to hear what @hkapusta @WonderingGypsy @VioletCavalier @CKBrooke have to say about it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Predictable, but cute. Corny, but expected. Tropey, of course. Cute little romcom read for Feb.

I gave this four stars, I loved it. I went through it in about one day, and it was a fun to read. I did think that the main character in this book and love theoretically, had a lot of similarities in their personalities, but it was still a pretty fun lightweight read..

Funny and really cute. A fake dating troupe. It's predictable, the characters are predictable yet it's fun to read, humorous and keeps you going for more. I love Hazelwood's sense of humour and her easy, flowing writing that is not exactly literary but does give you a good story.

Currently reading this. Im such a mood reader. I need to stick to one book and read that. I wish all books were fast reading for me like Freida books were.

I drank this novel like sweet wine 🍷 This was a bit of an impulse read and wasn‘t on my list for #wintergames but my mom insisted that I bump it up on my tbr. So glad I did!
My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
#GhostsofXmas

Flying through this one…I don‘t know what took me so long to finally read it! #GhostsofXmas #wintergames

I‘ve known romances happen in Academia (what a juxtaposition!) but this is the first story that I‘ve read that depicts such a situation. Enjoyable page turner, certainly relatable on maybe not the plot but more the thoughts that women have and things women go thru in the workplace. Hopeful and fun all around.

I loved this book!!!! I felt like I could identify with Olive. It was a cute book. I rated this book a 5 out of 5 stars!

Third year Ph.D biology student Olive doesn‘t believe in romance. She needs to convince her best friend that she is seeing someone so kisses Professor Carlsen. They both need this fake relationship to work on both parts. That is until the fake relationship becomes something more.
I loved this nerdy story especially the academia style talks. A great set of supporting characters. Favourite character though is Dr. Carlsen: the sweetest guy!

🎉🥳 BOOK 100 OF THE YEAR! 🎉🥳
Super cute. I love books with a female MC in STEM. This was funny and romantic but also addressed sexism in science roles.
A perfect amount of steam without being smutty.
Adam is now my new favourite book boyfriend.
The cover of this book looks cute, and the beginning is cute, then Olive fake dates her professor, and after that Olive‘s profesor forces her into marriage and has se* with her that she doesn‘t want. Don‘t buy this pornography book!

I was so nervous to start this book because of the hype and how much the synopsis sounded like something I‘d love. I didn‘t want to be let down; I need not worry. This was amazing and the perfect way to end my week.

Fun, easy read. Still kind of wild to think that fan fiction with the names changed is such a viable genre. Found on the laundromat bookshelf, and tbh I understand not wanting to display this one on your home shelf, even though I already told all my friends that I read it

Love story … would love to have more of the ending continued…. Aprils pick for book club!
