The sign of a good book: shedding of tears.
Best way to start my holidays was by finishing this book, in bed, with my coffee, and my cat.
Through the story of the Marsh Girl, not only do we get to feel and smell the marsh and all the amazing creatures, big and small that inhabit trance, but our heart strings are pulled as we yearn for the survival and need for love of one lonely girl/woman.

Read it friends!

Two books that deal with trying to fix the “mistakes” of the past, each unique in their own way.

Life after Life is a subtle story about what you would change if you could be re-born.

Midnight Library is the book I recommend to everyone and reminds you how precious this life can be. No regrets on this one.

If I was an English teacher, I would ask students to do a study on these two books.

I‘m sure I heard a wise philosopher say this😉.

Just some book therapy to give me something to look forward to while I deal with life over the next several months.

Which should I start? I‘m leaning toward the tagged book…

No better way to finish this gem of a book written by my colleague than sipping coffee in my backyard with my favourite flowers starting to bloom.
I was anticipating an easy, breezy summer romance. I was not expecting to take an emotional journey through love, loss, and finding oneself perfectly balanced with sarcastic humour. I will not wait so long to read her 2nd and 3rd books! #readitfriends #makeintoamovie

Although at times funny, and I can see some of the truths about medical education and medical practice the author is trying to make, overall the #satire was too much for me. Maybe this means satires aren‘t for me?? 🤷‍♀️

This was my #blinddatewithabook pick from Valentine‘s day. I was initially disappointed since I don‘t really do teen or fantasy.

BUT, I was was pleasantly surprised. I was riveted. I found myself rooting for Mare and trying to figure out her love triangle. And I did not predict that ending.

Looks like I need to get my hands on the rest of the series. 😀

This was my first Murakami and it was a delight. At some point you realize this is more than just a love story and it just pulls you in until you can‘t stop. I think a some rereads are needed to fully understand all that this book offers.

Readergrrl Hi @SG2014 I just started following you and was curious if you love lupines in the same way I do. It seems that may be the case! Sorry for stalking, it feels a little weird, but my family is from NB, specifically from the West Isles. This photo looks like it was taken there. I live in Connecticut but I spend every summer and holidays on Deer Island. It‘s is so beautiful there! 11mo
SG2014 @Readergrrl I love lupines because their colour can be so vibrant. I used to drive from Fredericton to Saint John every day for work and the lupines along the side of the highway always brightened the long drive. Sadly, I don‘t live in the Maritimes anymore and I so madly miss the ocean! Thanks for the follow! 11mo

Susan Cain tries to explain how introverts can and should fit into the world that can‘t stop talking. What started as an empowering look at the cultural underpinnings behind these two personalities types and the physiological reasons why introverts respond to stimuli in the way we do, turned into a self-help book of how introverts can prepare for the extroverted world.
I want to know: why can‘t extroverts learn to live in an introverted world?

CouronneDhiver Ha! Totally agree 6y
GingerAntics You‘re telling me it gets worse? Ugh. 6y
SG2014 @GingerAntics I‘d say it‘s a solid decline from start to finish. I can‘t not finish things I start....so I finished it😟 6y
GingerAntics @SG2014 I hate not finishing, so I want to power through, but more and more I‘m thinking I should just cut my losses. If it‘s just going to keep going downhill, ugh. Thanks for the heads up, though. 6y

Not surprising, I‘m an introvert. Susan Cain starts her book with some good insight into how we may feel living in the world of the extrovert ideal. There‘s a lot I can relate and I was particularly interested in the biological basis for personality types.

I wanted something that required no brain power or emotional energy to read...this passes. But I was also pretty much annoyed with the Jane the entire time. Every chapter started with "how do I get pack to my real life?". If you're a Jane Austen addict and you wake up to find yourself in Jane Austen time, shouldn't you be at least moderately excited?

Anthoey Doerr brings beauty to one of the worst periods in our history. Little by little we learn how French Marie-Laure survives despite her blindness and perhaps because of her inner resilience; we yearn with the German Werner for something other than war. Interspersed, is the mystery of the diamond and it's magical powers. Doerr leaves us with the a sort of closure that only war brings. Amidst the tears (they were real), beauty still remains.
