The best part of hubby‘s staycation: bookstore date!
Hubby is on vacation and it‘s seriously cutting into my reading time. I‘m loving this one, but I have 50 pages left in part 1. I‘ll finish it today. Talk amongst yourselves and I‘ll be back later. lol #CosmereBuddyRead
This one feels so small in my hands. Lol If anyone wants me to make the parts shorter, just let me know. Judging by how we have been doing so far, I think we can do this one in two weeks. #CosmereBuddyRead
I liked this one. I kinda want to read the next one now. lol But from what I have read the order matters. Oh, well. I can‘t wait to hear what you all thought of where this one went. There was on part where I cheered really loud. I bet you can guess. #CosmereBuddyRead
Sorry I‘m late. I might have forgotten what day it is. Summer is not my season. Anyway, I‘m so glad there are other books in this series, because I don‘t think we are going to get all the answers I need by the end of this one. And I was so worried he was going to kill someone I liked this week. I am riding in the edge. I have trust issues with this man now. lol
#CosmereBuddyRead
I fell behind on this part for a bit. Summer is so busy. And so hot. Yuck. I‘m just finishing up the interludes today. But that was an action packed section wasn‘t it? And I loved the scene with Wit. I hope there is more of that to come. #CosmereBuddyRead
Hubby likes to buy me weird gifts that I might love just because I‘m weird. I love my new reading pool! It has just enough water to stay cool while getting a little sun. The hardest part is not getting too much sun. I just need him to bring me drinks now.
Happy Canada Day! This one is getting really hard to put down between parts. But I make myself because I want to avoid posting spoilers. lol I‘m very interested to see where things go now that Shallan and Kal have met. And just where did that Shardblade come from?!
#CosmereBuddyRead
“Bury my bones in the midnight soil, plant them shallow and water them deep, and in my place will grow a feral rose, soft red petals hiding sharp white teeth.”
Exactly as promised, toxic lesbian vampires. I didn‘t like it as much as Addie, but I still liked it very much. I might have to break down and read a series.
I did it again. Accidentally, fell into a signed copy. Apparently, 2025 is also my year for fantasy. But how do you even resist toxic lesbian vampires?! I loved Addie, so I have very high hopes for this one. Someone make me tea, I‘m going in!
I‘m posting this tonight, because I‘m going to be really busy for the next couple of days and I didn‘t want to forget. Was that not an amazing first part?! I was happy and sad and anxious. So many surprises! I can‘t wait to see where Sanderson takes us next.
#CosmereBuddyRead
I am not okay. That was an emotional tsunami. Wave after wave . I ugly sobbed through the last 80 pages or so. It‘s fantastic. And just what I expect from TJR. "Happiness is so hard to come by. I don't understand why anyone would begrudge anyone else for managing to find some of it." Also, a great choice for Pride month.
Happy Tuesday! Here is the reading schedule for Words of Radiance. I think it‘s going to be a good one. I just started it and I already have so many questions! I can‘t put it down.
#CosmereBuddyRead
Cass is being bossy.
Happy Tuesday! This ending was so good. I can‘t wait to see where the next book takes us. That being said, how is everyone progressing? I‘m wondering if you would all like to take an extra week to catch up or should I just keep moving forward? I know this was a hard one to get into. I will leave it up to you. I‘ll check back later today to see where everyone stands. #CosmereBuddyRead
Not my favorite King. But if you read the afterword he agrees that it isn‘t his best work. It‘s lacking soemthing. That being said, it‘s still pretty good. And Holly is probably his best character ever.
And there are the Sanderson twists that suck you all the way in. He still surprises me. I‘m shocked that I fell in love with this story. It really wasn‘t speaking to me in the beginning, but I‘m really glad that I kept going. This week‘s part is very short, but I‘m hoping it will give everyone some extra time to catch up.

What‘s the gift for a 9th anniversary? Is it a book? I bet it‘s a book.
“I dreamed that I dreamed about the musty grey soil of the island and the sweet perfume it emits after rainfall, a double remove from a place I will never visit again. My mother explained to me once… We find the scent comforting, she told me, because we want to believe there‘ll be a welcoming place for us one day, when we‘re buried deep inside it.”
Phenomenal. John Boyne never disappoints me.
If you‘re having trouble with this one, just keep going. I‘m all sucked in now. Part 3 is where it all turned around for me. I‘m having trouble putting it down now. I‘m loving both Kal and Shallan‘s storylines.
#CosmereBuddyRead
Hubby is at a late meeting. I‘m in my blanket fort with a flashlight. Shhh….
Sanderson has me again. This one was harder to get into, but now I find myself not wanting to put the book down. #CosmereBuddyRead
It took me all week to get through this part. But I finally feel like a have a grasp on it all. It was a lot for my little brain to hold on to. And I‘m forever grateful that we didn‘t start with this one. I think my biggest question is, what happened that made Dalinar forget his wife so completely?
#CosmereBuddyRead
I found this on Reddit. I guess it‘s not just me. I‘m finding it very helpful going into part 2, because there are even more characters. And it saves me from having to make my own. lol #CosmereBuddyRead
Part one. I had a busy week, but I managed to finish this part last night. I‘m not sure how I feel about it yet. But I could probably use a character index. Though I always tend to have trouble with fantasy names until I‘m about halfway in, so maybe that‘s just me.
#CosmereBuddyRead
A fantasy folklore sapphic love story. Set in 1832 on the south shore of NS. About a married selkie and the midwife who delivers her baby. “She held her love in an open hand.” It‘s beautiful. Another great one from @DebinHawaii and #AuldLangSpine @monalyisha
I‘m a little slow with my #ShelfSweeper #4Elizabeth I had a busy week, but I‘m hoping to have a book filled weekend. @Andrew65 @Tove_Reads
I‘m back home, so I finally have my hands on my new books. I ordered these from Blackwells. I love Blackwells. They packed each book individually to protect them in transit. And they all match. That being said, at this size, there is no way I will be able to not crack these spines. lol
#CosmereBuddyRead
My book arrived yesterday. After I left my house to visit my dad for a few days. Just three hours away. 🙄I did manage to get an ebook copy from the library to hold me over. It‘s a big one! I have decided to keep it divided by parts. I know that the last part is very short, but I think leaving it as is will give people time to catch-up. Or to read other things for a bit. But I‘m always open to suggestions.
#CosmereBuddyRead
I loved this one. I especially loved the humor and sarcasm that went along with the sad bits. And it was so unpredictable. He kept me guessing until the very end. I can‘t wait to hear what you all think. #CosmereBuddyRead
Finally starting #ShelfSweeper. This is my ever growing TBR shelf. And we won‘t talk about what‘s on my kindle and kobo. Now… where to start….
@Andrew65 @Tove_Reads #4Elizabeth
I don‘t know why it has taken me so long to start reading Sanderson. I really love the Cosmere. For those of you doing the #CosmereBuddyRead rumor is that Sanderson is writing a part 2 for this one, with the working title Nightblood, but it‘s currently on hold. 🤞
John Boyne is one of my favorite authors of all time. He is a master. He brings so much emotion to his stories. This is less than 200 pages and it still hits hard. I have been ordering these from England, but I read that the Canadian and US editions are being released in September. I‘m glad I didn‘t wait though. I love the little ones.
I‘m a little bit late today. My modem decided to freak out and I spent most of the day trying to get the tiniest bit of internet. They are sending a new one, but it‘s going to take a couple of days. I might disappear again, but I will eventually be back. Anyway, I did not expect the story to go where it did. Sanderson never fails to surprise me. I can‘t wait to hear what you all think. #CosmereBuddyRead
I couldnt put this down. It is ultimately a story about love and passion and grief. It‘s beautifully told, like an ancient dark fairytle. It would fit right into a book about a witch cooking children. Or an ugly sister who cuts off her toes. The cannibalism doesn‘t really take away from the fabulous story. I don‘t recommend trying to eat eggs while reading about sucking the meat off of freshly fried fingers. It‘s a lot gory right from page one.
Happy Independent Bookstore Day! I didn‘t get to visit today, because life, but I am there often enough anyway.
Not my favorite St. James, but still really good. She tells such a great ghost story. They are always too creepy to read before bed. Also, weirdly, when I started dating my husband in the 90s, he drove a “Pontiac with a front seat like a sofa”. lol Another great read from @DebinHawaii and #AuldLangSpine
@monalyisha
It‘s all starting to come together now. The girls make more sense to me. Also, I have a little crush on Lightsong. #CosmereBuddyRead.
I live in Halifax, so I think it made this a little more fun to read. I know those streets and those places. The city is surprisingly similar to what it was then. A little bigger maybe. It‘s a very simply written story. An easy read when your brain is a little broken and tired from being sick.
Our whole house was knocked out by a nasty virus this week. I haven‘t been able to read for three days. But today everyone is fever free. We are spending this long weekend resting and getting strong again. And reading! (Hubby read that red lights are good for relaxing. I‘m not sure. But it really makes the cat‘s look demonic.)
I am in love with this one already. Sanderson is so great with character development. I was thinking that he might keep the magical system somewhat the same for the whole universe, but I guess not. Just where does he come up with these ideas?
#CosmereBuddyRead
This. This is what I expect from a Hunger Games book. It‘s fantastic.
Warbreaker is up next in our #CosmereBuddyRead. I have split it into four parts. Each section will be about 160 pages per week. I‘m really enjoying doing this with other Littens. This one is a standalone, if anyone would like to jump in and join us, we would love to have you.
@LitsyEvents @Andrew65 @Meshell1313 @Jess861 @DogMomIrene @BookBelle84 @PageShifter @rabbitprincess @Leniverse @JenlovesJT47
Wow. I‘m okay with how it all ended. And I love that it wasn‘t predictable. But I‘m kinda sad about it, too. I can‘t wait to hear what you all think. I‘m looking forward to starting Warbreaker. I‘ll post the schedule in a bit. Just deciding how to split it into parts.
#CosmereBuddyRead
“The encumbering elements of our histories must be spoken aloud, at least in the caverns of our brains, if we wish for them to take up wings.” This is a beautifully written story. Small and quiet, and yet so very heavy. It left me feeling a little bit lonely. I think Zorrie will stay with me for a while.
Another one from @DebinHawaii and #AuldLangSyne. I am really enjoying this list. @monalyisha
-I‘m right handed. It‘s really weird that arthritis is hitting my left hand so much harder.
- No, it isn‘t. That‘s your book holding hand.
Ugh… IT‘S MY BOOK HOLDING HAND.
Anyway, I‘m not putting this down until I finish it.
#CosmereBuddyRead
“The only point in creating something is to watch it die. Like a story that must come to a climax, what I have done will not be fulfilled until the end has arrived."
I still have no idea how this is going to end. But I can‘t wait to find out. And Human is human. Who saw that coming?
I love an independent bookstore. They always check the books before you buy them, in case there is a wrinkled page. They hold them in such a delicate way. And you know it‘s going to be a great read when they give you the nod of approval as they judge your purchase.
