Jumped right into this knowing 2 things: Sorcerers and Dark Magic.

The story is unique, funny and horrific at the same time, and presents fashion that makes sense to the world being built. Can't wait to see what's next in series! #manga #sciencefiction #horror

"???? ?????'? ?? ???? ???? ?? ????, ??? ???? ???? ???? ??? ?????." ?‍♂️

A fast-paced novelisation of the movie, which delves in deeper with the characters and is more descriptive.

It captures the spirit of the movie and its four main characters really well, while also adding the sort of insight into characters' thoughts and past that are only alluded to or hinted at in the movie.

Reread this for horror book club. Our group‘s first manga! Turns out this may not have been the best choice. While Ito‘s graphics are of course stunning, the structure of the five interconnected stories was so similar that our conversation floundered. I liked the two short pieces at the end, which were odd and unexplained. This collection is repetitive but still has that blend of unsettling horror, grossness, & humor that I like in his work.

RaeLovesToRead Oh God. That's horrible 😭😭😭 I really can't cope with Junji Ito, hahaha 😵 4mo
Michael_Gee @RaeLovesToRead HA! I know. Some of his images make me put the book down and take a breather. One of the people that came to book club is especially disturbed by body horror and said this was tough for them. 4mo
RaeLovesToRead I am that person too! 😅😅 Think I would have skipped book club that week 😉 4mo

My first JunJi Ito book! And it won‘t be the last the art work was creepy and gross and so well done but I loved it! I‘m thinking I might pick up Tomie next! 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is a strange, complex and yet super fun manga. Little violent at times, it largely is just cool people doing cool stuff. Strongly written female leads are a nice surprise in a genre that at times fails at the task. You just wish you got to hang out in this world a little longer than 23 volumes.

Overall, it was a solid read although it took me two weeks to finish the last hundred pages or so. Part of it was due to its redundancy, which wasn‘t the author‘s fault. Gore and his team‘s efforts were really half-assed when it came to the Florida recount as he cared more about public perception than winning. The Bush team on the other hand fought for every vote it could get. I wonder if I‘ll be reading books about this election in 20 years.

Darthdad Hmmm I think I‘m interested. I remember staying up until we‘ll past midnight watching coverage. I‘m interested to learn the behind the scenes activities that I‘ve either forgotten or didn‘t know. This is a definite add to stack for me 2y

The ridiculously long political week reminded me a bit of 2000....but back then I had college to conveniently distract me from the majority of that 💩show! As I didn‘t catch all of the ins and outs, I thought I‘d revisit the debacle while drinking a tasty brew!
