The US version of this book has a very #uglycover compared to the UK version.

This is harder than I thought😅! But think I'm almost caught up now 😌
Here are some #BlueBooks for #30JuneBooks Some of them are my favorites and some are in my #TBR pile in my room. But none of them has an #UglyCover I'm afraid 😅
Do you see any of your favorite book? Or any on your next TBR too?

I didn‘t really know what to pick for an ugly cover. So I guess I‘ll go with... boring?

There aren‘t many covers that I absolutely do not like, but this one really bothers me. To me, the guy looks so poorly Photoshopped—his head seems slightly too big, his gaze is off who-knows-where, and I‘m not sure the light hits him quite right—it makes me cringe. (The story is adorable though.) #uglycover #30junebooks

Poet422 Did you notice that she “seems” to be wearing a green jacket, not a vest but her sweater covered arms are easily visible. I think they placed the photo of the female in a “in-house” artwork photo they had in stock. You are right though, nothing matches from left to right. Creepy [shivers like from a sound in the dark]… 1mo
BooknerdsLife 😂😂 Good ugly cover choice! I dislike covers with real person on it in general 😅 1mo

Day 18: #uglycover
This was a little hard for me as I am going to admit im a cover person. I pick a lot of books based on covers, which I know I shouldn‘t but I can‘t help it. This book was actually recommended to me by an employee at B&N and frankly if I had ever seen it myself on the shelf I wouldn‘t have given it two seconds of my time. So suffice to say it‘s my ugliest cover haha.

Eyelit That‘s a pretty awful cover for an awesome book! 1mo
Sweetkokoro @Eyelit You have read this?!? This is first book I have ever bought off an employee recommendation and it sounds like a crazy trip, but fun at the same time. 1mo
Eyelit I read it years ago and really enjoyed it. Be prepared for banana pants zaniness though. The sequel wasn‘t as good, but still a fun read. 1mo
Sweetkokoro @Eyelit She also said the sequel wasn‘t good and to treat this like a standalone because of that reason haha. Sounds like I‘m in for a wild ride when I finally get around to starting it. 1mo
rubyslippersreads I read this for one of my IRL book clubs, but didn‘t care for it. 1mo

Day 18: #uglycover

Listen, I‘ve really enjoyed Melina Marchetta‘s books, but this 1992 cover is so distasteful 😂🤢

Day 18 of #30junebooks - #uglycover. Most ARCs have such boring, ugly covers, which don‘t reflect the story within at all!

I got this one from Shelf Awareness; super interesting literary take on a world destroyed by floods. Humanity clings to a few tiny islands (the remnants of former mountain chains), or lives aboard ships.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #howjessreadsin2019 (Um, I haven‘t shared reviews for the last 40-odd books I‘ve read. Should I play catch-up?)

Soubhiville This is my next read, but mine has a cover. Can‘t wait to jump into it, but I have to finish my bookclub pick first. 1mo
emtobiasz I‘m in a similar situation re: a backlog on book reviews 😬 Every time I think about making a post I just end up reading instead! 1mo

Sorry, @howjessreads, I haven't found a book with an #UglyCover among my books and I honestly can't think of a single one.

Well I requested this one from #NetGalley purely because of the title- which shares the name of my mother‘s imaginary friend growing up! Told in two perspectives, Lucy longs to not #FlyAway anymore on the run- and thinks she‘s found a #Paradise in New Hampshire... but all is not what it seems in this slow burning thriller. Unfortunately my oasis makes ever cover into something of an #UglyCover! #WanderingJune #SongsOfSummer#JazzyJune #30JuneBooks

TorieStorieS @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Thanks! They come back every year- with no work so I like them! 1mo
marleed That‘s a great way to pick a book! And how may I ask did Imaginary Gretchen meet her end. I ask because my 3-yr daughter had imaginary friends - Guy, his baby sister Lily, and their Grandma Linda Pride. Eventually they had a comically tragic ending. And that was that, no more imaginary friends. 1mo

TorieStorieS @marleed I don‘t think I can tell you....but there‘s more than one Gretchen..... 1mo
marleed @TorieStorieS Haha. The names of my daughter‘s imaginary friends were inspired by very obvious people but would be furious if this was noted. I was fascinated because she was way too young to know that an aunt imaginary friend was a thing. 1mo
TorieStorieS @rubyslippersreads Thanks- I try to make it work!😊 1mo
