This is part of my #nonfictionchallenge #womenshistorymonthread and I found myself drawn into the history of this amazing woman. This is a MUST read for everyone, especially in light of recent laws being changed. This one will infuriate you. Or at least it did me. We had come so far only to fall back into archaic ways of thinking.

This is such a disturbing read. Some believe he may have been the I-45 serial killer. It‘s possible. Anthony Shore was captured once DNA caught up with him and his killings. For fans of true crime novels this will keep you riveted to the pages. #nonfictionchallenge #readingchallenge2022

I‘ve always been intrigued with the Royal Family. While I had the opportunity to live in England for 3 Amazing years I finished my degree in History and actually traveled to many of the historical places I studied. To include various royal and aristocratic residences. This book was like sitting down with a cup of tea and hearing all the gossip and intrigue. Well worth the read #nonfictionchallenge #readingchallenge2022

It‘s a hell of a town, and Dyja looks at several angles from the 1970s to the late 2010s. He writes about the rise and fall of some political figures (Koch, Bloomberg, Giuliani, Trump), the movement of the art/artists around the city, Black culture and the hip hop scene, and gay culture and the AIDS epidemic. New York is a place of constant change and rebirth, and this book captures it well. #audiobook

Cinfhen Oh cool! I own this audio 😉 2y
Megabooks @JanuarieTimewalker13 I‘m unsure. If he said so in the prologue, I don‘t remember it. (But I wasn‘t listening for it either.) 2y

This book was absolutely brilliant!!! What could‘ve been a dry drudgery was in fact a riveting page turner. Anne Perkins covers 5 women and many others too as they become the first women to be admitted to Yale in 1969. This book explores much more than just the early days of coed education, it is follows the Vietnam War, segregation, the feminist movement and equal rights for women and minorities. This is truly #BookClubWorthy 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

TrishB Sounds great - stacking for now 👍🏻 4y

Cinfhen This book was beyond fascinating @TrishB I‘m so glad I picked it up for challenges but ended up with a 5 star read @4thhouseontheleft I think dad might like this one too @Centique 😘 4y
merelybookish Wow! 1969! That isn't that long ago. 😲 4y
Cinfhen Right!!! Only 50 years ago @merelybookish and it was quite a battle for them 😨really unbelievable, I think you‘d really appreciated his book. You too @Suet624 😘😘 4y
Suet624 I stacked it pretty darn quickly after reading your post. 😁 this time in history does not feel like ancient history to me. I feel like it will always be very present for me. 4y
Centique @Cinfhen I was wondering about this one for him! Thanks I‘ll add it to his list 😊👍 4y

Abramson gathers details from a myriad list of legit sources to create this timeline. At times, it‘s all quite overwhelming in its hard hitting truths. But if you need to flesh out the newscasts or articles you‘ve read with even more detail (lots and lots more), I recommend this book. 30% is the endnotes, so it‘s serious sh*t. If you can‘t stomach it all, just read the last chapter.

BarbaraTheBibliophage @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I‘m really thinking of counting this for my “Something with Animals” square. What do you think?? #nonfictionchallenge 5y
Prairiegirl_reading Yes that would count in my book!! 5y

Riveted_Reader_Melissa 🤔 That works 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Happyyyyy dance—it‘s my last square!! 😆😆 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BarbaraTheBibliophage You are welcome! And great job!!! 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Thanks. Maybe I‘ll just start it all over for the second half of the year! 🤪 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BarbaraTheBibliophage Hahaha! No, take the time to catch up on some other challenge...if you‘re like me I‘m sure you have a few going. 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Riveted_Reader_Melissa You know I do! Still have plenty yet to read ... 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa I‘ve got 8 squares left there, and 12 letters of my AtoZ (although for that one I have them mostly picked out already), and in Booked about 4 behind...🤷‍♀️ I‘m not following any of my plans really well this year.🤔🤪 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I‘ve got quite a few to go for Reading Women and Booked. Just three letters for AtoZ. And I‘m on target for MountTBR, but this is the part of the year I start to struggle with wanting library or new books. (edited) 5y

Starting this one by @hollytucker today as I recover from this morning's #migraine. It's really quite fascinating.

DGRachel Been a weekend for migraines, it seems. I hope yours is short-lived and you feel better soon. 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @DGRachel Yes, only a few hours. I've had a lot of vertigo lately, so I thought it might join the fun. Thankfully it hasn't! 7y

I re-read this every so often. It's worth it for the chapter titled "Shitty First Drafts" alone. #nonfictionchallenge #readathon #springcleaningreadathon
