I had so much fun reading this (had to move away from the window the night I stayed up to 2am to finish!)! I loved World War Z and Devolution didn‘t disappoint! As a child, I was certain that Sasquatch was alive & well & living in CT. I saw myself in so many of the references and to this day I‘m known for my Tall Man love! I have multiple stickers, T-shirts, & a Squatch air freshener hanging from my rear view mirror. Yes, a perfect match for me!

I'm fascinated that so many reviews characterize this book as a thriller. For me it was much more a story that challenged the idealisation of motherhood and explored the challenges faced by women who don't experience it as they are expected to. I found Blythe completely relatable and I wanted to scream at her husband for his lack of support. Thanks @AmyG I liked this a lot. #NewYearWhoDis2022 @monalyisha

AmyG Agreed. It was as if nobody supported or believed her. I, too, found her very relatable. (edited) 3w
CarolynM @AmyG I'm also interested in how many reviewers think that Blythe didn't love Violet and that led to Violet's behaviour. I don't think that's right at all. It also ignores the father's role and the dynamics between all of them. 3w
Cathythoughts Nice review 👍 I have this on kindle, must get to it soon 🤞 3w
AmyG I truly believed Violet was “a bad seed”....or one in the making, made worse by her family situation. 3w
BookLineNSinker I definitely questioned Blythe's errors in her parenting.. but then comes into question nature vs. nurture, right? 3w

So this is going to be my January reading pile. Thank you SO much @Chelsea.Poole for giving me so much to choose from. Patrick Radden Keene was on my list last year and his new one looks fab, I listened to The Stacks interview Amanda Montell and she sounds very fab and Betty I know nothing about! Amazing list thank you Chelsea #newyearwhodis2022

Some great titles on your list @AmyG ! These are the 3 I plan to read on January.

@monalyisha

TrishB Have you brought the tagged one yet Carolyn? 2mo
CarolynM @TrishB No, I haven't got that one. 2mo
TrishB Phew 😁 I sent you it about 4 weeks ago so hopefully it will arrive before you want to read in January! Post is slow. 2mo

CarolynM @TrishB Thank you, that's lovely of you😘 The post is ridiculously slow at this end but I would hope that it won't take too much more than 4 weeks! 2mo
TrishB Fingers crossed for this week 🤞🏻 2mo
AmyG I hope you enjoy them! 2mo
JamieArc The tagged book is on the list I received from my match as well, and with all the love I‘m seeing for it, will make it a January priority too. 2mo

A fantastic #newyearwhodis list from @JackOBotts 🎉😍 I‘ve already read #1&3 - loved both. The tagged book is on my #newyearwhodis2022 list also & I read it last January because it was on @BarbaraJean ‘s list!

The top 3 pictured are already on my TBR list so I will definitely read those. I‘ve been meaning to read more Matt Haig books for years. I‘ve also been meaning to try Colson Whitehead. There is No Good Card looks fascinating & new to me ⬇️

BarbaraJean Ooooh, this looks like a great list! I‘m going to be stalking so many people‘s lists today!! 2mo
MeganAnn The Cause of Freedom looks like it may be a difficult but important read and is also one I hadn‘t heard of previously. I‘m hoping to get to it as well at some point during 2022 if not in January - mostly depending on my mood and if I can mentally fit both that and Stamped in the same month. The Whispering Dead looks like a fun supernatural mystery type book I hadn‘t seen before and if time allows I hope to read that as well. 2mo
MeganAnn Thanks @monalyisha for such an excellent match! You are a rockstar at matching up lists ✨🎉😍😘 (edited) 2mo

MeganAnn @BarbaraJean right?! Me too! 2mo
monalyisha You‘re so welcome! 🥰 2mo
MeganAnn @Cinfhen I‘m very excited for that one! I had stacked it on litsy from someone‘s post (can‘t remember whose) a long time ago and then forgot about it. I‘m so glad @JackOBotts list has brought it back to my attention! 2mo
monalyisha I actually didn't much like We Ride Upon Sticks. But it showed up on a lot of lists! I'm weirdly (maliciously? I hope not! 😅) looking forward to reading your review & seeing what camp you fall into. 2mo
monalyisha I bought the Matt Haig for my MIL this Christmas. I hope it's great for your & for her sake! ;) My favorite of his is The Humans (which you may know...was that on your #FreakyFriday list? It feels like so long ago now). 2mo
MeganAnn @monalyisha @Cinfhen We Ride Upon Sticks is on my TBR because of a lot of great reviews on Litsy… now I‘m curious on which camp I‘ll fall into as well! 2mo
MeganAnn @monalyisha I haven‘t read The Humans, but I may have had The Radleys on my #freakyfriday list? I can‘t remember anymore, but that‘s the one of his I loved and keeps me thinking I really should read more of his stuff. I also loved his middle Christmas series starting with The Boy Who Saved Christmas. 2mo
monalyisha Oh, I‘ve been meaning to check out that MG series! Maybe this December? 🤷‍♀️ 2mo
monalyisha I bet you‘ll like We Ride Upon Sticks. I was probably just in a funk. 🙈 Still! The intrigue! 2mo
MeganAnn @monalyisha it‘s a perfect quick December read! I saw Netflix recently released a movie based on the first book as well which is actually A Boy Called Christmas (my bad🤷‍♀️). Book 2 is The Girl Who Saved Christmas so I meshed them together in my head. 😆🤦🏻‍♀️ 2mo
monalyisha I knew exactly what you meant! 😉 2mo
monalyisha Ahem. I just stumbled upon my review of We Ride Upon Sticks & apparently I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. 😅 I remember being annoyed about a few things. It‘s funny that that‘s the memory/mood that persisted when I clearly really enjoyed so many other aspects. I wrote a fairly detailed review. 😆 My memory is so embarrassing. 🙈 2mo
MeganAnn @monalyisha I just went back and found your review and other posts… love it! It is weird how sometimes the only thing I remember about reading a particular book is my mood or whatever was going on in life completely unrelated to the actual book.🤷‍♀️ One of the many reasons I reread so many of them. 2mo
monalyisha Definitely eager(er) to discuss now that my mind is refreshed. 😉 2mo
JackOBotts @MeganAnn - Yay! 🥳 I loved seeing the overlap on our lists and am so excited to plan a bit today! It‘s going to be tricky to wait till January! 😂 I can‘t wait to see your thoughts on these ready! I hope they don‘t disappoint!!!! 2mo
