Green Eggs and Ham
Green Eggs and Ham | Dr. Seuss, Theodor Seuss Geisel
173 posts | 428 read | 4 to read
Green Eggs and Ham is almost without doubt the most popular children's book of all time. Dr. Seuss first published it in August, 1960. The vocabulary of the text consists of just fifty different words and was the result of an assignment to Dr. Seuss that Dr. Seuss could complete an entire book using so few words. The 50 words are: a, am, and, anywhere, are, be, boat, box, car, could, dark, do, eat, eggs, fox, goat, good, green, ham, here, house, I, if, in, let, like, may, me, mouse, not, on, or, rain, Sam, say, see, so, thank, that, the, them, there, they, train, tree, try, will, with, would, you. Dr. Seuss wrote many popular books, including If I Ran the Zoo, (1950), Horton Hears a Who (1955), If I Ran the Circus (1956), The Cat in the Hat (1957), and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1957).

I‘m taking my fact of the day whiteboard duties very seriously this week.

Not sure who changed the poll… or who among the library staff thinks Jack Ryan is their best bet 👀

Who would you call?

Ruthiella Lisbeth Salander. 3mo
julesG Well, Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson in Taken) would certainly get me out, but that's a film franchise. Temperance Brennan could identify my remains. Still, best bet probably is John Wick; just look at what he did when someone killed his puppy. 🤣🤣 3mo

thegirlwiththelibrarybag @julesG, Booth is FBI, he‘d be able to track down a kidnapper… John Wick is a good choice tho! 3mo

julesG @thegirlwiththelibrarybag Right, Booth would get the job done. But I was thinking of book-Tempe for a change. Well, then I'd have to call Andrew Ryan, I guess. 3mo

This wonderful rhyming picture book 📖 is about Sam I Am's attempt to convince the narrator to try green eggs and ham. Offering the narrator different locations and dining partners to try the delicacy. A wonderful NF/RA, repetitive story of trying something new hesitantly that may look or sound different but finding the new thing to be great.

This MF picture book was first published in 1960 and was birthed from the quirky mind of Dr. Seuss. Sam-I-Am really LOVES green eggs and ham, and so should everyone else! Unbelievably his new friend refuses even give the green eggs a taste. Not on a train, not even in the rain, can Sam-I-Am get his new friend to feel the same way as he does about green eggs and ham. RT is the teaching strategy for this rhythming picture book from Dr. Seuss.

Sdemps For additional lesson plans and activities for Dr. Seuss, the author website is a great resource for teachers.

DrSpalding You could not have selected a better website resource. I could get lost on that site for hours! Consider using that as a tech station during your amazing author study! There was not a year when I was teaching first grade that I did not make green eggs and ham in my classroom. The kids would not want to try it because of the green food coloring but once they did… They loved it. 2y

This P., Dr. Seuss's classic book, is about Sam-I-Am trying to get Guy-I-Am to eat the green eggs and ham. Sam is convinced that they are the best things to eat anywhere. He mentions all the places that he could it until Guy-I-Am gets tired of Sam insisting that he finally tried them and loves them. This book is an outstanding selection to have in the classroom and use SR with the students. Students will love reenacting the story.

Green Eggs and Ham is a P book by Dr. Seuss. This story is about Sam-I-am trying to convince another character to try green eggs and ham. They go through different settings and adventures where they meet different characters while Sam-I-am keeps trying to persuade the character to try the green eggs and ham. In the end, the character in the story tries the green eggs and ham and loves them. #UCFLAE3414SP21

StephanyNunez Furthermore, Green Eggs and Ham is fantastic for a read-aloud (RA). The students will further comprehend the story using UDL principle 2.1 ( clarify vocabulary and symbols) and support activities from https://seasonal.theteacherscorner.net/read-across-america/green-eggs-and-ham.ph... This resource will help students with vocabulary comprehension. EL strategy 6 (Continually monitor students‘ comprehension). #UCFLAE3414SP21

Will Sam's friend ever try the Green Eggs and Ham? Green Eggs and Ham is a funny poetry book written by the amazing Dr. Suess and awarded the Caldecott Medal. This book would be best read aloud or through a fun storytelling.

While reading Green Eggs and Ham to the class make sure you are reading a good pace where ELLs will have time to process the words.
