I wanted to read this before watching the movie, but I think I'll go ahead and just watch it. It was good and still a pick, but didn't quite reach the hype for me. Maybe I'll try it again after a while, in a different mood.

I really wanted to like this as I love the film but I hate the art work. It was really off-putting. I liked the concept, the characters, pretty much everything else but it's hard to ignore the art in a graphic novel

The film pretty much follows the first book so just go watch that instead

I picked this up because I loved his writing on the few Wonder Women issues I read prior and this take of a group of immortals using their skills to become mercenaries for hire while I think a bit known was still a solid read.

There was a good amount of realism in the fact that you can read just how tiring it is to keep being alive for some of this characters - the constant struggle of being themselves and having to hide.

The art was kind of a miss for me but I‘m also not really into comics/graphic novels at the level where I could give you reasons why. It also doesn‘t translate well to a Kindle. Some comics do, some don‘t.

I did like the story and I want to know more about how someone ends up immortal. Is it because of something they did? Genetics? The world needs them longer? Tell me!!!

I plan to watch the movie this week!

I loved the Netflix adaptation of The Old Guard so I went out and purchased the first book. The creative differences between the two worked in each medium so they're both equally enjoyable- I LOVE when that happens! Will definitely be buying the second book when it comes out Sept. 16!

Greg Rucka is one of my favorite writers in the comic book world. I knew since he was part of this series that I had to read it before watching the Netflix movie.

This story of a group of assassins who have lived for centuries and are difficult to kill was thrilling. There's action, gore, deception, and a story that leaves me wanting more, which is exactly how I like the start of a series.

A rare case of "the movie was better". Although, the graphic novel offers some more background history of the core four, the imagery and fight choreography from the movie is was what I'm obsessed with. Regardless, I'm going to continue reading the books as I am fascinated by the overall story.

I‘ve had this sitting on my shelf forever. Seeing that Netflix has a movie streaming for it prompted me to pick it up sooner rather than later. I liked the story and concept. Really liked the characters and want to get to know them better. I hated the art. Like seriously hated the art (aside from the covers). So a bit of a low pick for me, but I‘ve already got my eye out for volume 2 and will def watch the movie tomorrow. 😆

The most romantic thing i have ever read that ended with a mass of dead bodies!
