This was alright, I just didn‘t like it as much as “never lie” I found the characters extremely unlikeable and found it a bit predictable

I got done with this book, and my spouse asked me how it was. I said it was cute, there was torture, and I could see it being made into a movie without much modification. "I don't plan on reading it, so don't worry about spoiling it for me," he said, encouraging me to say more. I shrugged. "I don't like it enough to say more." If I loved it or hated it, I'd have more to say. As our teen son says, this one was mid.
So, here's a Zion NP waterfall.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Freida #3 This was fun! She writes some wild plots and I‘m here for them. I know this one is popular and I can see why. It was very twisty, as expected. I usually try and keep it spoiler free, but I was happy when Nina‘s sadistic husband dehydrated to death in the attic after ripping his own teeth out 😃 I can‘t imagine how this is a trilogy? But I think I‘m gonna read it lol
I loved the concept of this thriller if not the writing itself. I figured out the who pretty early but not the how and why, so I read it in one afternoon!
Light pick…the writing was less than stellar - how many times McFadden repeats the same thing over and over got on my nerves - but the thrill of the story kept me reading and the various twists. And the end - wow! I can see why she has become extremely popular, with long waiting lists for her books at the libraries. Fast read that left me gasping in parts. #52BookClub24 #AnAuthorEveryoneHasRead
Self-care was high on the priority list today. I think I took in all the feels as I was making my way through this nutty book! A few times I wanted to shout out “Millie are you crazy”!
Millie. Millie, Millie!! I would have ran right after Nina gave me a tour of the house. Oh and I think I‘m obsessed with this book light. Shoutout to my sister for feeding into my addiction with books and all things books.
I don't think I've ever experienced a book that in spite of having such bad writing, kept me turning the pages 😳. Weak sentence construction, filled with cliches, cringy dialogue, and highly predictable thanks to the author signaling plot twists early...and yet I poured through it in a night. I am at a loss to explain it 😂.
Absolutely chilling 🥶😱, just what I love and expect from a thriller. After finishing I wanted to borrow more McFadden books from the library and they‘re all checked out!! She is popular!!

This is a bonkers good time of a mystery thriller. I‘m glad I picked it up due to the buzz around it, but I didn‘t know any details so nothing was spoiled for me. If you like fast paced, unhinged Eat the Rich/ Good for Her thrillers, this is for you! 4.5⭐️
Oh yeah! Freida McFadden is too good. I loved this book!! It was very entertaining and had a great twist.

Another great book by Freida McFadden. I‘m so glad I came across her books because I‘ve enjoyed just about every single one so far. This is a twisty-turny psychological thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It shows that you can‘t judge a book by its cover (no pun intended) and some people are just plain Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. Great twist at the end! #SeriesLove224 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView
Every day I clean the Winchesters‘ beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor. I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter, how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day. I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside.
This book has all the ingredients for a terrible novel.
1. The writing is basic.
2. There's plot holes.
3. One of the main characters thinks wearing glasses makes them unattractive.
4. There's fat shaming everywhere.
5. A short white dress was the culprit in our main character having sex.
6. This plot has been done a thousand times over. The unreliable, unstable female character is far from new.
Yet I couldn't put this damn book down.
If this book is in your "to read" list, put it at the top, get to reading this book next!! You will not regret it! I love a good twisty novel. Literally read this book in the middle of night when I was feeding my 7 months old. I bought a book light specifically because I wanted to read this book to stay awake while I pumped. Such a page turner!!
Wow, talk about twists. You never know what really goes on in a home. Millie is an ex-con on parole and needs to find a job after being fired from her last one. Nina is looking for a housekeeper. She hires Millie and strange things start happening.
I didn't see that twist at all. The whole time, I was thinking something totally different. I love a book like this. It totally shocked me.

Booktok doesn‘t always lie. This was the compelling, undemanding domestic thriller I needed. Fast-paced and no regrets.

Thank you @JessieKB !! I‘ve been eyeing this book for ages and I‘m so excited to have it. Time to ignore the holiday stuff to read and snack on chocolate. Thanks again and happy holidays!
@MaleficentBookDragon #jolabokaflod is the best swap!
A friend and a psychologist I know both bullied me into reading this one. My sister is also a psychologist. Too bad she doesn‘t like to read.
OMG. Ok top 10 of the year….finished this book in 10 hours. Could not put it down. Easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I went through this book so fast. It kept me on a rollercoaster of suspense, it‘s definitely a psych thriller. There‘s plenty of twists and moments of just wow. Will definitely read Freida‘s other books.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It did give me Turn of the Key (Ruth Ware) vibes.
The big reveal was expected, but didn't make it any less great. The other twists were like music to my ears. So so good. I'm really happy that this is part of a series. Can't wait to read the next one!

Book 22 of 2023- This book is definitely hard to get into but the twist factor makes up for it.
Total guilty pleasure. Super easy to read, has a few twists. Ending seemed pretty (aka incredibly) unlikely but overall this was a good, quick thriller!
⭐️: 3.75/5
It‘s giving The Last Mrs. Parrish vibes with an ending I didn‘t expect.
Everyone seems to adore this book but I thought there were details that didn‘t add up and too many ‘how is that possible?‘ moments.
I really enjoyed the twists and turns in this one.
Read for reading challenges.
5/5
How do I even put into words how much I LOVED this book?!? My jaw has been on the floor ever since I finished. Millie is my new favorite character after the way she handles business with the Winchester‘s. Way to go girl. Diving into book 2 as soon as possible!!
I adored the characters: I felt for Millie and wanted her to success and get better life. Nina was awful and more so when story went forward.
This was super mysterious, I was so curious and wanted to know more. At some point I started to hope to get something more and soon after that came many twists and I fell in love. This wasn't the most believable story but so so fun & entertaining. Loved this so much!

May have cheated and spoiled myself by reading ahead, but it was still an awesome story, and despite spoiling myself early on, there were other twists as well I didn't account for. This was the perfect vacation read - had me locked in while laying in a hammock, sunning on the beach, and roasting in front of a fire. Flew through this in 2 days. #haikureview
This book is...SO.GOOD. The twists and turns, just amazing! I don't want to say too much, just READ IT!!!!!! 5/5
it was readable... a rather quick read tho..... it wasn't bad it was just not worth the hype.
I hate that it took me so long to pick this book up! I‘ve read several of Freida McFadden‘s books and I‘ve loved every one. This one was no exception. I read this book in a matter of hours because I couldn‘t put it down. What a thrill ride! Now I‘m ready to read the second one!
The book truly began for me at about 65%. The entire first half is very slow. It does buildup to what comes after but I believe it could have been done in less pages. Most of the first chapters were repetitive in a way and it felt like the book overall was lacking for me. There are twists but no character development.
It lost me when it ripped off this CLASSIC Simpsons joke, but won me back with the shocking twist. The writing improved as the story went on, and I honestly wish it had been a little longer, mostly for more details after the twist was revealed. I will definitely read the sequel, but for now I‘m starting The Inmate for an IRL bookclub.
