This is an Amazon Kindle Deal, on sale for $1.99. Although it is a fictionalized account of one woman‘s life in early America, it reads like a memoir. Wonderful book!!!

Bklover I enjoyed this one too! 14mo

I enjoyed this historical fiction during the late 1800s in Arizona. Life was tough and dangerous. I fell for Sarah. What a complex and strong woman. Western life and romance while raising a family in an unforgiving time. Bring your tissue.

Foragingfantasy I began this one last year, I need to pick it back up. 1y
InnerSavvy @Foragingfantasy It took me a little to adjust to her way of speaking but then it became important to the story. I say, pick it back up. 😊 1y

Kaye Thanks. I read this a long time ago too. I think I‘ll grab it as I‘m trying to build up my kindle library again but can afford to pay full price to do it. Looking for good books at good prices. 👍🏼 2y

"There is nothing more silly than a rooster taking over the world, but every day he thinks he can. I wonder if we are just a little part of the world, like that rooster, and that the real things go on around us while we strut in our yards trying to take charge of things." It's been a while since I've posted. I recently moved to CA & the Boyfriend & I stopped in AZ along the way. I found this book there. It's the only 1 I've wanted to read since ?

It's been a long time since I've read a book that made me feel the way I feel about the main character, Sarah Prine. The hardships of being in a wagon train, bound for, then settling in the AZ Territories in the 1800s, and the stories of family, back-breaking work, joys, and heartbreaks were rich with detail. Sarah Agnus Prine was a badass, and this AZ girl feels a new connection with her birth state and a woman of unbelievable strength. 5 stars.

Excuse me while I GUSH over my #beachinbookswap from @Sydsavvy ❤️❤️ She spoiled the HECK out of me! I am SO excited about a book set in AZ!! There are so few! 1/4

Sydsavvy We devoured it in bookclub some years back, and it was wonderful so I hope you enjoy! (edited) 3y
Onlaughterandliteracy @Sydsavvy I'm sure I will love it! 3y
Sydsavvy Also this one is a fairly new page turner. The author is a Texas gal who I would not have heard of without the blogger group I belong to. They were all absolutely gushing when her sequels came out this year so I decided to check it out and discover the fuss. And it was just so much fun. This one was a bit of a risk but based on what you like, I think it was a safe one. 3y

Sydsavvy Oh and note on the first book- it's written in memoir fashion as she grows up so if her grammar bothers you at first, don't worry too much. 3y

I don't know how much of this book was fact and how much was fiction - but I really enjoyed this story. The main character is a strong woman who faces challenges (mostly) head on - with a little naïveté thrown in for good measure. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Human nature. It just never changes.

Sometimes when I contemplate my TBR, I think about Billy Crystal in When Harry Met Sally... Whenever he starts a new book, he flips to the end so that if he dies before finishing he'll know how it ends. I wonder how many books on my TBR I'll never read. That's my morbid thought of the days, folks! Happy holidays!

There are no words for how much I love this book and the female lead. I felt completely riveted.

Sarah educated herself, fought off bad people and poisonous snakes, and ran two businesses. She loved people, she lost people. She raised a large family and had a sense of humor. Her thoughts are raw and honest. I can't say enough good things about this story and its secondary cast. It has gone straight to my favorites list and I want to reread ASAP.

Between making and selling her own soap + raising and selling cows, Sarah has saved $500 in a rusty can in her pantry. She wants to put it in the bank. It is 1887 in the Arizona Territories.

I'm so sad this book is almost over! Nancy Turner writes the most kick-butt female leads. (My Name is Resolute, anyone?) They're so strong and fierce and able. I love Sarah. Love love love her.

This was just the most perfect read for me. Sprawling portrayal of pioneer life, fierce heroine, swoony romance. I did this one in audio, so I can't speak to the storytelling approach of having her writing ability improve over the course of the book. I'll read books 2 and 3! #audiobook

Ahh, I'm absolutely loving this book and desperately wish I could listen to it all day rather than work. I'm only on July 5, 1885 so I still have a ways to go. Which is also good because I don't want it to end! Thankfully I know there are two more books in the series 📚 Currently, Sarah is being silly and not admitting something we have all figured out long ago...but I am eating it up ☺️ #audiobook
