Finished my reread! It‘s a true joy to revisit a book I love and find it just as exciting and emotional as the first time I read it. Resolute is one of my top favorite female leads ever. This book spans her life, from a 10 yr wealthy child living on a Jamaican plantation in the 1700‘s to capture by pirates, to indentured servitude, to a Canadian orphanage, to her little home outside of Lexington and Concord. A very strong historical saga.

I decided on a whim yesterday to reread one of the best books I‘ve ever read (maybe THE best) for my first book of 2022. The main character, Resolute, is a force and her story is incredible. I‘ve thought about this book a million times since I last read it 5 years ago.

My house is quiet right now so I‘m getting some really good reading time.

This book was everything I want in historical fiction! Resolute was an amazing character and I loved how this story stretched from her childhood to her as a great grandmother. It was a chunky book, but I could have read even more about her life - as a slave, a weaver, a rebel.

MinDea Great review! 6y
TNbookworm I love Nancy E Turner! Have you read These Is My Words? Thanks for the review, I didn't know about this book☺ 6y
Lauren_reading @TNbookworm this was my first book by her, but I‘ll be reading others! 6y

I finished this book + I'm so sad that it is over. I feel so many things about this story! I've never been so inside of a historical plot as with this one. It felt alive + breathing, and this character Resolute is one that I'll never forget. My new favorite female lead.

This is the story of a girl taken from her home + sold as a slave + eventually she helped shape the revolution that made the United States. Incredible story. I'm speechless.

raelaschoenherr I need to get on this one! Loved These of My Words! 8y

I'm just over halfway thru this book but I think I may have found my new favorite female MC:

Resolute Catherine Eugenia Talbot is one of the strongest leads that I've ever read. I love her, I love her, I love her! She has been through some awful times, some crazy times, some good times, and she is still a lady and she is making her way. She is awesome.

I have held my breath for the entire first half of 600 pages. This book is GOOD READS.

annahenke LOVED this book! 8y
rubyslippersreads Based on how much I loved These Is My Words, I'd probably love this too. 8y
raelaschoenherr Now I'm even more excited to read this one! I adored These Is My Words! 8y

Current situation ☕️

I took a short break from social media over the past few days. I have to do that from time to time or I get a little overwhelmed with it. (I'm NEVER overwhelmed with you, @Litsy friends!)

Anyone else ever feel this way?🙋🏻

Check out what I'm #currentlyreading 👆🏻👆🏻 👆🏻 IT IS SO INCREDIBLE. I'm trying to read it slowly so I can savor it, but really: I just want to devour it. And I'm so in love with this cover.

annahenke I adore this book! Almost chose it for #recommendsday last week! 8y
Megabooks I take breaks all the time. I don't have a Facebook page, but I sometimes use Twitter. I haven't used Instagram since they got an algorithmic feed. Most of my time is spent here, but I still need a day off about once a week, especially if I'm depressed. 8y
intothehallofbooks @ahenke It would be a great choice! I like Resolute so much. 8y

intothehallofbooks @Ebooksandcooks Yes! I also stopped IG when they started with their algorithm. That was a bummer but I am so glad for Litsy. 8y
brendanmleonard I will go through periods where I use various social media a lot and then not at all! I used Instagram almost entirely for books but Litsy does everything IG does but better so I've barely touched it. August was rougher than expected and I've actually felt derilect in my Litsying - posting updates but not commenting! In short: breaks are good, Litsy rocks. ❤️👍🏻 8y
intothehallofbooks @brendanmleonard I couldn't have said it any better: breaks are good, Litsy rocks. And yes! I'm also up and down with social media. I haven't been on Twitter much this summer, for example, but I kind of miss it. 8y
[DELETED] 2232195534 I loved this author's These Is My Words. This is new to me! Thanks! 8y
intothehallofbooks @kaysreadinglife This is my first book by this author and I definitely want to read her others! I've heard super things about These Is My Words 😊 8y
jessdean Yes! I always take a break. It's can be so overwhelming! 8y
intothehallofbooks @jessdean Yes! I usually feel refreshed afterward 😊 8y
Tanner Yes! And I've learned to skim and not read every comment on my networks (otherwise I wouldn't get any book reading done!) 8y
moranadatter 🙋🏻 Breaks are good. I'll be taking frequent breaks from everything but Litsy until November. 8y
intothehallofbooks @Tanner Skimming is a good idea! I like that. 8y
intothehallofbooks @kmdartist Yay for breaks here and there! 👏🏻 Litsy is so easy to stick with even when disconnected to other places. I love it here 😊 8y
Zelma I took a month break from all social media to wean myself off and it worked pretty well. I went back to Facebook but take frequent breaks and am ruthless with hiding and de-friending. I finally left a message board I was on for years and few others I lurked on. Litsy and a little FB and Goodreads are enough social media for me. 8y
