Ghostly Echoes
Ghostly Echoes: A Jackaby Novel | William Ritter
Jenny Cavanaugh, the ghostly landlord of 826 Augur Lane, has enlisted the services of her detective-agency tenants to solve a decade-old murder--her own. Abigail Rook and her eccentric employer, R. F. Jackaby, dive into the cold case, starting with a search for Jenny’s fiancé, who went missing the night she died. But when a new, gruesome murder closely mirrors the events of ten years prior, Abigail and Jackaby realize that Jenny’s case isn’t so cold after all, and her killer may be far more dangerous than they suspected.   Fantasy and folklore mix with mad science as Abigail’s race to unravel the mystery leads her across the cold cobblestones of nineteenth-century New England, down to the mythical underworld, and deep into her colleagues’ grim histories to battle the most deadly foe she has ever faced.

I really enjoy the Jackaby series - nice middle grade/YA stories with a mix of horror, monsters, mystery, and folklore. This third book in the series is quite fun, with some extra character growth and just enough spooky action.

KathyWheeler I enjoyed these books too. This 3rd one sets up everything perfectly for The Dire King. 1mo

Day 4 Post Challenge! Today's prompt is #CurrentlyReading and on Day 4 I was reading Ghostly Echoes by William Ritter! I was also listening to The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien!
I have since finished Ghostly Echoes and loved it! The whole Jackaby series is amazing! So mysterious & the World/Magic System is super interesting and you learn more and more each book!
As for The Silmarillion I still have NO IDEA what is going on!

I am still loving these books. they are detective novels, but with magic, set in the era of horse and carts, and they have a Sherlock/doctor who vibe I adore. I definitely liked this one better than book 2, and love finding out more about Jenny and also hints of Jackaby‘s past. I‘m hoping this series keeps going and going. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love the Jackaby series and I always fly through each book. I really love that we finally got to focus more on Jenny and her story in this one. If you‘re looking for a supernatural Sherlock Holmes style book with plenty of quirk and humor, then this series is for you.

BillBlume I still need to read the last book in this series. Really enjoyed this series, too. 4mo

This series is so much fun, and while this book still has some of those funny, lighthearted moments, it had an overall darker, more serious tone. Also, the audiobook narrator is amazing!

I hardly read anything last month since I was focusing on writing and now I‘m in a bit of a funk 🙁. I have to read a book for book club, but after that I want to read some fun stuff to hopefully stop a slump before it gets too bad. I‘m thinking maybe the last two books in the Jackaby series? And I have plenty of graphic novels sitting on my shelves, so maybe I‘ll get through some of those, too. Gorgeous bookmark by Bibliophile Prints 😍

Larkken Beautiful bookmark! It‘s always feast or famine for me with books I want to read, so I feel your pain 😕 9mo

I think this may be my favorite of the series even though it is setting up for the final book. I love all of the characters, especially Jenny and Abigail. I was happy to see Jenny get some resolution about what happened to her. I think Abigail really shines in this one. I also love the addition of Lydia Lee.

Counting as part of the #screamathon due to supernatural characters. This is not a scary series.

“POSSESSION. Jenny wanted to attempt possession, and in my foolish eagerness I agreed. The office faded in a blinding haze of whiteness, and together Jenny and I tumbled into a world of mist and cold and pain...and out the other side.”

Another fun mystery with Jackaby and Abigail, this time they are looking for who murdered Jenny. Loved this book, love this series! ✨👻📚

4am and I‘ve just finished the third book in the Jackaby series by William Ritter. I really enjoyed this one, the new characters were brilliant(especially Charon, I hope the afterlife is exactly like that!)and the story was interesting. I really love that Jenny finally got her answers. It sets it up for the last book very neatly, The Dire King will be on the top of my next BookDepository.com order for sure! Highly recommended. 5⭐️

2. I picked up a Little Golden Book(I believe it was The Pokey Little Puppy)when I was 4yrs old & started reading. I credit my Auntie Lilla for feeding my addiction with old books.
3. I‘m an insomniac so most of my reading is done between 11pm & 5am. House is quiet, no traffic noise. Bliss.
4. The Oz books as a child(TikTok & Ozma were favourites), the core group in The Wheel Of Time series as an adult. Too many more to count!

Some of the reviews for this installment of the Jackaby series were tepid, but I loved it! We learn what happened to Jenny and have some interesting adventures in the land of the Fae and in the Underworld. It‘s also setup perfectly for the last title, The Dire King.

It's is 4:45 am and I just finished book 3 in the Jackaby series. It is such a pleasurable read. It perfectly mixes the heart of a Sherlock Holmes story with a strong hit of the fantastic. I love how it intertwines with truly beautiful writing to form a unique narrative and suprising twists. Looking forward to the last book. Here was a passage that really spoke to me. The sentiment is just so honest. #Jackaby

I'm really angry at myself for not having picked up the final book yet so I definitely have to do that next pay day.

This book is my favourite of the series so far. There's so much more thinking and analyzing and adventure and creativity in this one. The characters grow quite a bit as independent people to come together as a stronger group. Jenny and Abigail are #friendshipgoals

I L-O-V-E-D going to the underworld and watching Abigail be awesome
