New Orleans is one of my favorite places on the planet. I‘ve only been once (this year, in fact, for a surprise 40th bday trip) but I was in love with all things NOLA long before. In honor of Mardi Gras weekend, do you have any Louisiana-centric book suggestions for me? I‘d love to hear them. Laissez les bons temps rouler! 💜⚜️💛⚜️💚

k.reads.5 The only NOLA book I know of is Out of the East by Ruta Sepetys, but I actually haven't read it myself! 6y
TLVZ721 Thank you, @pl.2886 ! I‘ve never heard of that one but I‘ll certainly check it out! 😊 6y
Bookish.SAM New Orleans is the greatest!! I‘ve been 3 times. We do a trip down every other year for Jazz Fest. On my first trip down to get in the mood I read 6y

BookwormAHN Ends in New Orleans as does a lot of Poppy Brite' s books. 6y
TLVZ721 @Bookish.SAM , I would love to go to JazzFest one year! As a NOLA-lover, I think Confederacy of Dunces is required-reading! I‘ll definitely put it on my list. 6y
TLVZ721 @BookwormAHN , those are great suggestions! I checked out The Awakening once but never got a chance to read it. And I‘d never heard of Poppy Brite. Thanks! 6y

Does anybody subscribe to LitCube? If so, are you guys having a problem with them sending out your boxes?? 😒

LibrarianRyan Oh the stories I could tell about lit cube. None of them good. 6y
Literary_Siren I‘ve been subscribed to them for over a year and have never had an issue before this. It‘s really irritating. 6y

Sad news. 😭 We fell in love with this wonderful bookshop when we visited New Orleans last year. It's been open 50+ years. At least they had a good run.

Jess_Read_This This makes me sad; it looks like it was a wonderful place. 7y
britt_brooke @Jess_Read_This Its such a cool shop, located in an old pink and green house. I'm so happy I snagged a shirt and tote back while there. Their slogan is "Fight the Stupids." ? 7y

BookishFeminist Oh also! This isn't set in New Orleans proper but in the Gulf area post Hurricane Katrina, where Jesmyn Ward is from, and it's amazing. 8y
