I enjoyed the book, but I wasn't ever surprised by it. I kept feeling like there was a big twist coming, and I was waiting for it, it just never came. I was able to guess what was going to happen from the very beginning of the story. I still enjoyed reading it and plan to read the next book. The writing was really good.

Thank you so much @AFrostCauseReads for the book and generous amounts of chocolate 🍫!!!!

Not only did the title peak my interest, but the cover art, back cover matter, and when I read the first chapter and realized we started on a ship, we‘ll, it was a no brainer that I added it to my TBRRRRRR!

And I‘m very fond of the Jane Austen stack of books sticker you included ☺️

AFrostCauseReads Yay! I‘m so glad you like everything! Enjoy a day of reading and eating chocolate, happy Jolabokaflod! 1y

It‘s been a while since I‘ve read YA fantasy so this was fun. I thought the magic and world were interesting enough to keep me reading this in most of one day. I found Zamora to be a likable narrator and will read the next one to see how she grows after this adventure.

The world created and described by Grace is a thing of beauty, the story is compelling. I did enjoy it, but for the first time since I can remember reading this felt like I was reading YA. Usually I find fantasy YA just has a young protagonist but with this I felt there was a lack of depth of character and character development that made it feel like it was for a younger audience. If she'd delved a little deeper it could have been truly stunning.

I thought this book sounded right up my alley - grates, mermaids, a vengeful queen. It was good, but I don‘t know… maybe it just wasn‘t everything I wanted? Who knows. I definitely recommend the podcast interview with the author however on 88 cups of tea. I was definitely into this book in the 2nd half. ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

2/5⭐️ so I finished All The Stars and Teeth today and unfortunately it just didn‘t hit the spot, I feel like the overall premise was good but the execution was poor, the world building felt a bit bland and I had a hard time picturing any of the cities or islands, I also didn‘t vibe with any of the characters! I really wanted to like this book but it‘s just not for me!

2.9⭐️ Did I love the story, no not really. The only reason I did not DNF this book was because it was part of a book club. Super slow at the beginning, while a bit morbid, and by the time I got interested in the story I wasn‘t even invested in the characters. It wasn‘t bad, and it did get better which is why I‘m giving it a 2.9.

3✨ This book had very dark moments at times. However, I really liked the characters being a mermaid, pirate, queen, and her fiancé. I wasn‘t into it as much as I would have liked though.

I am a sucker for a good sea monster. I thought I sensed some pre destiny themes I thought were a bit over the top, but other than that, I really enjoyed the book. It had enchanting dark magic, an ass kicking mermaid, and a pirate 🦜 -- all very good elements to a story.

kimmypete1 Love this cover!! Would you recommend for me? 3y
Eggbeater @kimmypete1 I'm not positive. I would say get it from the library on audio just in case because it's fantasy and there are some dark magic scenes involving severed limbs. But I think you would like the romance and may like it anyway. 3y

Wrapping up 2020 by finishing this book that I bought earlier this year from OwlCrate, in a moment of quarantine online shopping mania. I enjoyed this fun fantasy novel about a princess who fights for her kingdom, and I have the sequel waiting for me on NetGalley. Happy new year!!

Wow! This was so good. It had a great plot and world building. I thought I knew where it was going in the beginning but I was so wrong. It got dark fast. I thought it was very interesting and a great adventure. I would definitely read more by this author. It was a recommendation by one of my librarians and I am so grateful for it.

I read this one earlier this year and it's the first one that popped in my head

Picked up a pool table I bought my mother for Xmas. We knew it was old when we bought it but after getting it there we did some research and found out it was commissioned and built during WWII. The history nerd in me was pumped!

I don't have a song but I blare 90's boy bands in the summer!!

MoonWitch94 What a cool pool table! 4y
FantasyChick @MoonWitch94 I'm really impressed. I love old things that have a history! And because it's so old it was made to last. They've been warned though - if they ever sell the house the table goes with it because we're not moving it again 😂😂 4y

Mermaids, pirates, an awesome magic system and amazing world building! While I found some parts lagging and the relationship between Amora and Bastian a little forced, I will definitely be reading the next book. This story is full of lore, from pirates, to mermaids, to types of magic, and even to mythical sea monsters resembling the Kraken! There was even a little time to create a possible love triangle and romantic interest that managed to not completely consume the story. I surely appreciate an author who knows how to execute that well. I do not give 5 stars often, so please believe me when I say that you should read this one. What an adventure!

I‘m on vacation this week! Yay! I grabbed these two beauties but couldn‘t decide on which to read first. Snagged one of the last February boxes from OwlCrate mainly due to the beautiful playing cards with drawings of characters from the Throne of Glass series. I have ADSOM playing cards from OwlCrate also and continuously check eBay for the Caraval playing cards they designed and sold a year ago...no luck yet. These cards are gorgeous and very purple! The other goodies are fun also and the book sounds interesting...glad I jumped at this opportunity!

Ash.on.the.line I snagged the cards on Mercari they are beautiful. I recently saw the Caraval cards too. They go pretty quickly and some people charge an arm and leg but occasionally I get lucky! This was a great box! 😊 4y

I really liked the whole magic system and the storyline, even though some of the twists were predictable. I liked the action, and the different characters, and I think this book is really well written. However I felt that not a huge amount was happening that I actually cared about, the journey was a good pace but I found that I got bored quick. I did enjoy the piratey feel to it, and the whole atmosphere of the magical kingdom.

I really struggled with this book. I could not get into it, really early on. It just seemed to drag and I never connected with the characters. I felt absolutely no emotion towards this book and it‘s story, which kind of sucks cause I really had high hopes for this one. I had to force myself to finish reading it for BookSpin or I probably would‘ve DNF‘d it.

Nothing about this book appealed to me: Pirates? Meh. Sea beasts? Not so much. Mermaids? Ugh. Royalty coming into her destiny but....not really? Puh-leeese. Honestly, I can't remember why I picked up this book but when the hold came in I figured " Why the hell not?" 4am....I finished at 4am guys! Just couldn't put it down. It's not one of those super special YA books but it had me hooked! ⤵️⤵️

FantasyChick The magic system here is so interesting and that main magic focus? Dark. As. Shit. Here for it! I think this was a typical YA fantasy with some surprising elements that kept me going but more importantly, this was just the type of book I needed at this moment. I might not recommend it tomorrow....but today it's a palette cleansing hit 🏴‍☠️☠🧜‍♀️🔥 4y

I was looking over my #BookSpin list for this month and I do believe I, unknowingly, picked all the pretty long ebooks I had. Like only a few are under 400 pages. What a great month to try to read all 20 picks 🤣😅

HeyT I feel that. I just used my same list from the previous months so I did not plan for this at all and realized I have a few chunksters so this will be interesting. I almost wish I had done a strategic list but then losing the symmetry of the previous lists would irk me. 4y

🎧 OwlCrate Book ... A princess, a pirate, a finance, a mermaid, magic, secrets, bad guys and lies ... 6 islands each with their own kind of magic. Princess Amora‘s faulty inexperienced magic has her on the run with the above mentioned people looking for a way to earn back her title. She learns some difficult truths along the way. I recommend it as it‘s a YA that doesn‘t rely too heavily on the typical tropes. I eagerly await book two! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/4
