The Wedding Party
The Wedding Party | Jasmine Guillory
The new exhilarating romance from The New York Times bestselling author of The Proposal! Maddie and Theo have two things in common: 1. Alexa is their best friend 2. They hate each other After an "oops, we made a mistake" night together, neither one can stop thinking about the other. With Alexa's wedding rapidly approaching, Maddie and Theo both share bridal party responsibilities that require more interaction with each other than they're comfortable with. Underneath the sharp barbs they toss at each other is a simmering attraction that won't fade. It builds until they find themselves sneaking off together to release some tension when Alexa isn't looking, agreeing they would end it once the wedding is over. When its suddenly pushed up and they only have a few months left of secret rendezvouses, they find themselves regretting that the end is near. Two people this different cant possibly have a connection other than the purely physical, right? But as with any engagement with a nemesis, there are unspoken rules that must be abided by. First and foremost, don't fall in love.

I gave a so-so to the first two books in this sort-of-series because the writing is kind of wonky for me. On the other hand, I was anticipating this third installment and excited to see the 4th is awaiting its publication date. Truth is, I like these characters and their stories so they‘ve become a pick for me, after all!

charl08 I didn't realise she'd written another one, will look out for this! Thank you. 6h

I had to wait about a week for this book to be checked back into the library, but it was worth the wait! The Proposal is still my fave book of the series, but that‘s because Nik & Carlos are my fave characters! This was a good “end” that tied up some story lines, but I hope there are more to finish up Nik/Carlos & Maddie/Theo!

Ahhh Jasmine you have warmed the cockles of my cold, dead heart once again. I loved this feel good book. I loved the reappearance of some of my favorite characters (hello Alexa!) and I really liked Maddie and Theo. I liked the weight given up their jobs and how important they were. This was the perfect book that I needed during these awful weeks (My heart isn‘t really dead; I am actually an old softie.)

ChasingOm I just finished THE WEDDING DATE and I can‘t wait to continue with these characters. 😍 3w

4.5/5

Jasmine Guillory writes such good romance. I love how all the conflict arises from the characters' insecurities about themselves and their relationships. It just feels so realistic and relatable.

Enjoyed. Standalone, but it helps if you've read The Wedding Date first; unlike The Proposal, Alexa (and Drew) play a bigger role. Much better than The Proposal (Carlos (and Nik make cameos)) I do love me a dislike/enemies to lovers trope. Enjoy getting into Theo's insecurities, and seeing more behind "bitch" Maddy. Plus learning why she became a stylist.

I enjoyed the The Wedding Date and The Proposal, but this one was... meh. It was also the first one I listened to in audio and I wasn‘t a fan of the narrator, so I‘m sure that played into it some.

I‘m sure I‘ll read her next one, which will be about a 50- something year old woman for a change. I‘ll stick with reading next time though, and skip the audio.

Jasmine Guillory's The Wedding Party is another fun romance centering on two characters connected to her previous two novels. As in The Proposal (my favorite of the three) and The Wedding Date, Guillory devotes time to developing imperfect, realistic, empathetic protagonists and then sees where the plot takes them. Alexa and Theo are a great pair in this enemies-to-lovers novel, which was a perfect summer read.

Can't believe I've read all three titles this year and was so apprehensive about it. I love that previous characters continue showing up in the latest books. I think I've said this before but the characters and what drives them, their childhood and histories complete the character development perfectly making them more than just romance stories but really give the stories an arc that just works.

Still my least fave of the trilogy, but it got better and more real for a few chapters before veering back into “this seems highly unlikely” territory. I guess The Proposal will remains my fave, partly because of the friend group interactions and family relationships therein, but this one is totally acceptable, if it swerves around a semi-ridiculous plot more than I expected. 3.5⭐️ #romsntsy

“She watched him make the slowest coffee in all of California.
“‘I can‘t believe I slept with someone who boils water every damn morning to make their coffee.‘
“He looked up from boiling the water.
“‘Actually, it‘s not boiled; I heat the water to exactly two hundred five degrees in order to get the best—‘“

Theo is me. I really really get him. 😂☕️

Lauredhel I'm more confused by her - what is the more "usual" way of obtaining coffee in the morning in California? 1mo
suzisteffen @Lauredhel He‘s doing a pour-over; she has a Mr. Coffee or something at her place. Honestly I think it takes the same amount of time, but one process is more externalized and thus seems slower, or that‘s my theory anyway. 1mo

I didn‘t love this one as much as the first two, but still such a fun read! I also super loved that they thought they were being so slick! My annoyance was with them and their lack of communication; you couldn‘t just talk t to each other instead of wondering and thinking the worst? But still, super great read while I laid out in the sun.

The end of this fun series and probably my favorite! Enemies to lovers, secret dating, fun troupes all around! Also because I‘m in the middle of wedding planning myself I loved the mixed in drama of Alexa and Drew. It was just fun, and cute, and adorably romantic with lots of pizza included! Maddie was energetic the perfect love interest to Theo‘s quiet and smart! I need so much more from this author!

This spring I read The Wedding Date and loved it! Can you guess how excited I was when I realized it was a series? Bought The Proposal the same day and finished it by the time the sun was rising the next day. So when The Wedding Party came out this month, it comes to no surprise that I finished it pretty quick. Here‘s to hoping Jasmine continues on with this series. 🤞🏻

Guillory's 3rd installment is an updated version of the classic opposites attract story. Her take is cheeky, wickedly smart and hot. Although the timelines and characters overlap, you don't need to read her other books before this one. Maddie & Theo take turns with this narrative with help from some new characters and some that are familiar.

Jasmine's writing is so effortless and endearing—she pens engaging and interesting characters.

4 stars overall: the beginning felt rushed but I liked how Theo and Maddie found themselves caught in the trap of “we said this was a fling but how do we admit this is more”. Also, Maddie‘s idea of creating a way to help low income women with style tips was aces.
5 great big stars for Alexa, who as Maddie and Theo‘s bestie makes a big appearance here and I ❤️ her.
