The Right Swipe
The Right Swipe: A Novel | Alisha Rai
Alisha Rai returns with the first book in her sizzling new Modern Love series, in which two rival dating app creators find themselves at odds in the boardroom but in sync in the bedroom. Rhiannon Hunter may have revolutionized romance in the digital world, but in real life she only swipes right on her careerand the occasional hookup. The cynical dating app creator controls her love life with a few key rules: - Nude pics are by invitation only - If someone stands you up, block them with extreme prejudice - Protect your heart Only there aren't any rules to govern her attraction to her newest match, former pro-football player Samson Lima. The sexy and seemingly sweet hunk woos her one magical night... and disappears. Rhi thought she'd buried her hurt over Samson ghosting her, until he suddenly surfaces months later, still big, still beautifuland in league with a business rival. He says he won't fumble their second chance, but she's wary. A temporary physical partnership is one thing, but a merger of hearts? Surely thats too high a risk

My bus to NYC broke down en route which sucked but did give me a ton of extra reading time to finish this cute contemporary romance! And I made it to meet my friends with only an hour delay 😜

Rhiannon, one of the MCs, can come across as unlikable but it‘s definitely on purpose and I personally liked her anyway. She‘s tough and her emotional barriers make sense for her character not just to serve as a plot obstacle. A predictable read but fun!

DivineDiana So sorry. But happy that you had a book! 3d

Enjoyed. I liked how it incorporated two contemporary issues, that usually don't go together. Part of me wishes that we knew more about Samson's family, but that's just nosy me. Saw in the acknowledgement that it's the beginning of a new series. Can't wait until we get more books. Liked the small cameo from Jia. #Romantsy

I may have just binged this pretty much cover to cover. On my phone, too (for some reason library ebook wouldn't copy to my kobo), and learned my phone will eventually shame me Netflix style with a "Zen mode" prompt ? This may not have helped my headache at all.

Definitely do not regret any of that! Really enjoyed! The 2nd of Rai's books I've read, this was similarly diverse and has chars dealing with some heavy issues. CW in comment. #romantsy

llwheeler CW, one of the main characters has trauma from sexual harassment 1w

Great book, loved the two main characters and how they dealt with some serious baggage to be together. Rai‘s diverse characters and inclusion of some important topics, to include sexual harassment, abuse and CTE, made for an even better book.. #romance #romantsy

I really liked this book, but didn't love it as I was hoping. I guess that happens when you have super high expectations! This had all the elements right: diverse, complex characters with emotional depths; modern, leftist politics (like, when was the last time a hetero romance casually included a queer woman of colour and mentioned the existence of nonbinary people?); fun concept of dating app world but.... Still highly recommend! #Romantsy

I was expecting a #romcom from the title and cover but it wasn‘t that kind of a story. It was more serious and a look at dating with trust issues and the #metoo movement. Good stuff but I‘m ready for some laughs now. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ #romantsy

CarolynM Just saw this on the romance shelf at the book shop. Maybe someone should tell them. I wonder why they went for such a fluffy looking cover? (edited) 2w
Christy2318 @ Well it is romance but definitely not the fluffy rom com that the cover suggested. It‘s kind of a spin off from her Forbidden Hearts series that had clinchy paperback covers. I guess the move to trade paperback made them feel they had to go fluffy cover wise? 2w
essayareayaitch I've only read her Forbidden Hearts series prior to this, but I feel that heavy is kind of the author's thing. 5d

1. To actually finish a physical/e book. I‘m in a bit of a slump so I‘ve started 5 books and nothing has kept my attention.
2. 🤷🏾‍♀️ (see #1)
3. Today dark chocolate raisinettes tomorrow who knows
4. Music. I can‘t concentrate when it‘s too quiet.
5. Always. At anytime I usually have an audiobook an ebook and a physical book going.
6. If your reading this considering and invitation to join us😁

So good! She didn‘t annoy me as much as I was worried she would and misunderstandings moved on quickly, like it would if you were an adult and it was real life. Heartwarming is what I would say, no comedy, but it gave me all the warm and fuzzies.

New Alisha Rai book!! Tbh, I'm bummed they made it a trade paperback (more expensive!) and used an animated cover (I loved the covers of the Forbidden Hearts series and it seems like they're trying to make it not look like a "romance"). But I'm still excited! #Romantsy

The first in Alisha Rai‘s Modern Love series, a little bit different from her previous novels, the over all tone is lighter although it still has some social issues mixed within the main plot. I liked it a lot!

This isn't out until August so I kind of jumped the gun but I needed a quick romance read in my life! And a new series from Alisha Rai, no less. Like all Rai's works this has diverse characters that show how romance can still deal with consent and trauma and still be steamy. It asks if there is space for a second chance in a swipe left culture, and also tackles #metoo plus CTE in professional football players. Very enjoyable!⤵️

ReadingEnvy And for the fans, these are tangentially connected to the characters in the Forbidden Hearts series. #romantsy

Coming off of Rai‘s Forbidden Hearts series, I was ready for some angsty, dating sexytimes in the new Modern Love series. However, Rai changed up the dynamics of this book, creating a second-chance, slow-burn romance between Rhiannon and Samson, two capable professionals approaching 40 (if you like competence pr0n, get yourselves this book). I was 100% here for the emotional work the couple does to overcome their own baggage,...

This is an unreserved PICK. I laughed out loud, the characters and their chemistry was compelling, the Lead Guy was amazing, and I cared what happened. Of course it doesn‘t hurt that the sex was steamy too. I love Alisha Rai and she did great work here. More at the blog ireadthereforeiam.wordpress.com #romantsy
