Girl, Stop Apologizing
Girl, Stop Apologizing: A Shame-Free Plan for Embracing and Achieving Your Goals | Rachel Hollis
Rachel Hollis, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Girl, Wash Your Face and host of the top-rated Rise podcast, urges women to stop apologizing for their desires, hopes, and dreams and instead to go after them with passion and confidence. Rachel Hollis has seen it too often: women being afraid of their own goals. They’re afraid of embarrassment, of falling short of perfection, of not being enough. But the biggest fear of all is of being judged for having ambition at all. Having been taught to define themselves in light of other people—whether as wife, mother, daughter, friend, or team member—many women have forgotten who they are and what they were meant to be. In Girl, Stop Apologizing, entrepreneur and online personality (TheChicSite.com) Rachel Hollis encourages women to own their hopes, desires, and goals and reminds them they don’t need permission to want more. With a call to women everywhere to stop talking themselves out of their dreams, Hollis identifies the excuses to let go of, the behaviors to adopt, and the skills to acquire on the path to growth, confidence, and the biggest possible version of their lives.

I listened to the audio book. The bonus was it is author narrated. She has amazing passion for her platform/mission and I very much enjoyed listening to her on my way to work each morning. It was like having my very own motivational coach! I will miss the encouraging words coming through my speakers every morning. With that said, she has so much helpful information that I now intend to buy the book. It‘s one of those you want as a reference book.

marleed I listen to so many great books that I find purchasing my 5 stars the right thing to do! 2w

June 12, 2019 Hello! Checking in for a brief moment because I am on p167 out of 206 (not counting the Bonus Chapter). In all, the book has 224 pages. NOT BAD. As one can see when they pick up this book, it is hard cover but the content is extremely understandable and concise. It feels like the author is talking to you in-person! SO GOOD ugh

I got this one from a Goodreads giveaway. I enjoyed it. I really Ike‘s her first book and I like the way she says things and what she has to say in general. I love her attitude and experiences , but not sure if we needed a full second book by her with such similar subject matter.

#CurrentlyReading this book I picked up with a coupon... I don't know anything about Rachel Hollis other than her other book got lots of mixed reviews. My curiousity was piqued but I didnt feel like reading her sex life... Sooooo I got this one instead. Started it yesterday while LO napped and I'm already 1/3 of the way done. I have a memo saved in my phone with lots of quotes already... May be time to check out her IG. What are y'all reading?

Avanders It‘s always so nice to find a book like that that speaks to you! I‘m hopefully finishing this: 2mo
vkois88 @Avanders oh, that sounds like an interesting read!! I'm honestly relieved I like this one as much as I do so far... I'm not typically big into NF anyway, and it was a total leap of faith purchase. 2mo
Q84 Sounds interesting! I'm currently trying to finish tagged book which has been taking me forever to get through due to busy schedule. Also, an audio I've been listening to in the car to work. I think it's the White Princess. Trying to finish both this month. 2mo
vkois88 @Q84 I have The Immortalists on my shelf, just waiting to be read! Are you enjoying it? 2mo

Sorry for the poor picture, but I guess that‘s what happens when you finish listening to an audiobook on your work computer 😂

I enjoyed this one. Just like Girl, Wash Your Face I do think there are some great ideas/reminders and listening to Rachel Hollis read it makes her words/advice that much more energetic.

I liked this book MUCH more than Girl, Wash Your Face. I guess since I‘m not a wife or mother I couldn‘t relate as well but this one was definitely motivating!

Self help books are not my jam mainly because they are just common sense, which I like to think I already possess. That being said, I found this book entertaining and containing some nuggets of truth that hit home for me.

"I know this seems almost blasphemous to some people, but you really, truly don't have to hang out with people who are negative or mean or make you anxious or bring out the worst in you. Even family."

I am not one for self-help books, but there are nuggets in this book that I really need right now. I even broke one of my own rules and dog eared this page!

Chock full of practical tips and advice like her first book. I pulled alot of quotes from this one too. This one didnt strike me as good as her first but was equally funny and of course she shared all her experiences. I love how she sectioned her book into excuses, behaviors and skills. Def. recommend.

AJones My #1 excuse. 🙃 4mo
LeticiaToraci I learned, no tv, no instagram, no wasted time without seeing it for what it is. You can hear audiobooks while you do house shores and thus learn something in the process, you can do an extra activity if you push useless stuff aside, you can do it. 4mo

LeticiaToraci @rather_be_reading The ammount of invasive stuff you hear pretending to be advice is unbelievable for anyone who has not gone through the same thing as a mother. Just as an example, some days ago someone was complaining because I already put easter decoration in my door, even uf the whole street did it already. 4mo
LeticiaToraci People overstept their boundaries all the time and invade your life in a daily basis and still get surprised if you put them jn their places. 4mo

KathyWheeler But this is true for me! I really am not a goal oriented person. 4mo
Trollkonstnaren @KathyWheeler You do not have to be 🙂 That's the trick. People expect it from succesful people while in reality doing whst you love is more than enough. Trust me. I work on a highly competive (~90% are also men) and I have learned that that sentence is just one way to make you feel bad and smoke you out of the job. 4mo
KathyWheeler Despite my lack of goals, I‘ve managed to be pretty successful. It‘s just that I‘m not one to think about where I want to go and what I want to do. Maybe because I never saw this as excuse not to do the things that need to be done; it‘s just an aspect of my personality. (edited) 4mo

4/5🌟
She gives lots of great advice and useful tips and how to utilize them in a no nonsense way. This book is broken down in three sections Excuses To Let Go Of, Behaviors To Adapt, and Skills To Aquire. I enjoyed the personal experiences she shares from her own life too. Her writing style and voice was fun and upbeat. She definitely has a powerful message to share about positive change.
