One Hundred Names
One Hundred Names: A Novel | Cecelia Ahern
Internationally bestselling author Cecelia Ahern's One Hundred Names is the story of secrets, second chances, and the hidden connections that unite our lives—a universal tale that will grip you with its emotional power and mesmerize you with its magic. Scandal has derailed Journalist Kitty Logan's career, a setback that is soon compounded by an even more devastating loss. Constance, the woman who taught Kitty everything she knew, is dying. At her mentor's bedside, Kitty asks her—what is the one story she always wanted to write? The answer lies in a single sheet of paper buried in Constance's office—a list of 100 names—with no notes or explanation. But before Kitty can talk to her friend, it is too late. Determined to unlock the mystery and rebuild her own shaky confidence, Kitty throws herself into the investigation, using her skills and savvy to track down each of the names on the list and uncover their connection. Meeting these ordinary people and learning their stories, Kitty begins to piece together an unexpected portrait of Constance's life. . . and starts to understand her own.

Charming and delightful! I love Cecelia Ahern. Some of her books are a bit wacky, but I really enjoyed this one.

My most recent read was One Hundred Names by Cecelia Ahern. Much gentler than my usual reads. A little slow for me, but beautifully written with superb characterisation.

"Nobody can pretend to know what people want to read or hear or see. People rarely know it themselves; they only know it after the fact. That is what creating something original is all about. Finding the new, not rehashing the old and feeding a market."

"We want them for their emotional journeys, not just so we can hear their policies but so we can hear the reason for their policies. What happened to make them believe in this, what happened to make them feel this way? Yes, we sometimes talk about diets, but not organic this and wholewheat that, but of why and who. We are all about people, about feeling, about emotions."

"‘Some people say that you shouldn‘t operate from a place of fear,‘ Constance went on, ‘but if there is no fear, how is there a challenge? Often that is when I‘ve done my best work, because I have embraced the fear and challenged myself.'"
