Love love love!! More kids and adults need to read this damn book. I heard a lot of reviews stating this shouldn‘t be a YA book because of the content. I wholeheartedly disagree, this book shows you that not all “bad people” look like BAD people. It could be your neighbor, the uncle everyone loves, ANYBODY!
Great read recommending this book to others.

Definitely gave the audiobook 5 stars. The book is written from Sadie‘s perspective as well as the perspective of a podcast that is investigating her disappearance. As a true crime podcast junkie I absolutely loved the podcast parts and the cast of characters. Tough subject matter but I loved the story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

3.5/5 🌟

Listened to this as an audiobook. It was good but not great. Some of the minor characters' interviews wrecked the book for me because their dialogues felt so scripted. I'm a big fan of crime podcasts but this one just didn't cut it for me. But, overall, I did enjoy the book.

Sadie by Courtney Summers is a YA mystery that follows two story lines; one of a podcaster as he worked to unravel the story of a missing girl, and the other about life of the girl that goes missing.

#NewYearWhoDis Book 1

This had been on my TBR for quite some time and I was excited to pick it up.

The format was really unique! I loved how it alternated between Sadies POV and then the podcast investigating what happened to her. I do love a good true crime podcast/documentary/book etc.

This is dark, disturbing, and trigger warnings galore...but excellent.

One more thing... (spoiler in comments)

whippoorwill815 As much as everyone wants to know what really happened to Sadie in the end, I think this type of ending is very realistic, especially in the world of a true crime investigation. Often, we may just never know the truth. 1w

Sadie‘s sister Mattie is found dead in an orchard. Sadie disappears soon thereafter. The book then follows Sadie on her quest, alternating with a podcast that is searching for her. This is a much darker, grittier book than I would expect from YA. It‘s quite good and has an interesting ending. I would definitely read this author again.

This was probably one of my favorites of the year. I‘ve seen a lot about it here on Litsy, but am surprised it hasn‘t gotten more hype in the general reading world. And it is EXCELLENT on audio! A full production with a variety of readers, sound effects, etc. (Probably one of the best audios I‘ve read, and I‘ve read a lot of them). Ugh...this one hits you right in the gut. I found myself almost sobbing at certain parts ( I listened to it on audio), mostly bc I see so much of me and my sis‘s upbringing and relationship. Our mother and father were both addicts and even though we didn‘t experience the level of abuse Sadie and Mattie did we still leaned on each other for support....at almost 30 years old we still do. Hug your sisters everyone ❤️❤️❤️

I cannot listen to this because the acting is so bad. I really enjoy both audiobooks and podcasts so I thought the audio format would be best for this book. The problem is the people the podcaster is supposed to be interviewing, and the reenactment of phone calls. They do not sound like people speaking naturally but people *reading* a script. I'm totally taken out of the story by the (lack of) acting. Will have to try in print.

I really wanted to read thriller and my choice fell on the book "Sadie"! There are two storylines in the novel. The first belongs to a correspondent who is asked by the two sisters ' adoptive grandmother to find the elder Sadie, who disappeared after the murder of the younger sister. And the second storyline belongs to Sadie herself. The book brings up the subject of child abuse. It's hard to read!

Like every Courtney Summers' book, this one takes a difficult story and tells it beautifully. Some sections are hard to read because they're so raw and real, but the story she's telling is so incredibly important for everyone to hear. If you have daughters, teach young woman, frequently interact with young woman, or if you are a teenage girl, then I highly recommend checking out this book.

4 stars. Sadie is the story of a girl looking to find justice for her sister. I went into this one not knowing what to expect but knowing it got high reviews. The switching back and forth between podcast transcript and Sadie's point of view took a while to get used to but it ended up working well.

This book made me so sad and my heart broke knowing that real people live this everyday. Overall, a very good book. It sticks with you for a while.

A YA that I actually enjoyed! A fast-paced thriller about Sadie, a girl who sets out to find the man that killed her younger sister, Mattie, after the hard life circumstances they've had to endure. At the same time, readers get a different perspective of the story, in the form of a true-crime podcast, whose host becomes obsessed with the girls' story and finding out what happened during Sadie's hunt... Beware, it gets dark.

Hollie I enjoyed this one also. The audio version was cool because they had a different person voice each character so it was easier to keep track. 3mo

“I can‘t take another dead girl.”

Because of her mother‘s drug addiction, Sadie had to take charge of her little sister. She‘s done her best to protect Mattie and give her a normal childhood. When Mattie is murdered, Sadie sets out to find and punish the killer. The narration jumps back and forth between Sadie telling her own story and a podcaster investigating the case. This is perfect as an audiobook.

Oooooofff. This was a tough one. Tough enough I had to augment my reading time on this super rainy day by baking/grilling English muffins. I understand why some who have read this were less than satisfied after finishing it. Simply put, it hurts to care for people who are suffering - real or not. And it really hurts when their story may not end as you‘d hoped. But that was why I give this book a pick. It was hard to read because it felt real.

Sadie is a self-reliant, strong young woman who never really got to be a kid. This novel deals with themes of violence, murder, abuse, addiction, pedophilia, grief and revenge. You get Sadie's story as it unfolds alternating with a podcast that deals with Sadie's sister's murder and Sadie's disappearance. A disturbing YA thriller.
