Day 28: Book with Dragons #SeptInBooks18
I wish we could get some cooler weather here in Florida. Tell me about the weather where you are. I need to live vicariously through all of your autumn weather.

I can‘t say I hated this because that would require an actual emotional reaction, and there‘s nothing to warrant anything stronger than 🤷🏻♀️ and 😴. World building was nonexistent or vague, the characters were flat and cookie cutter, the “magic”—such as it was—was random. Oh and it took like 300 PAGES OF NOTHING to have anything happen, & even then it was boring. Only real pro: The (white) author did a decent job writing POC characters. 1/5 ⭐️
My nightside reads usually tend to get out in purse or around the house throughout the day as I read them. Then, they go back on the nightside. Tonight this book, Crown of Midnight, and Renegades will be on my nightstand. Usually it‘s current reads.

I didn‘t get much reading done this morning. I read a few pages of Renegades, a few pages of Renegades, and listened a bit to The Hundredth Queen on Audible. Right now I am taking a break to look for a new couch. #24in48 @24in48
Book review! I recently finished "before she ignites "by Jodi meadows. I did like it but it was extremely slow in the beginning. The last half of the book was packed with action and that made it worth it. I really liked the character development and the involvement of the dragons. I rated it a 3.5/5 stars
🐲 QOTD Below! 🐲
🐲 Today is the last weekend of the show I'm working on currently. Alas, what a bittersweet moment. I'll be sad to see it go!
🐲 Before She Ignites is another of my current reads. It's been in my shelf for way too long, so I figured it was finally time to get to it.
🐲 QOTD: What is your favorite mythological creature?
🐲 AOTD: I've always been fond of dragons and hippogriffs!
A quick look at my reading material to prepare for moderating next week‘s Writing Show on Wednesday. There are far worse ways to spend a weekend. To get tickets: https://goo.gl/t85ytm

Got some #BookMail today for my reading prep to moderate this month‘s “Writing Show.” I was a tad alarmed when I noticed the packaging was already coming open. Thankfully, the book isn‘t damaged. Author Jodi Meadows will be part of my panel that includes author Roben Farzad and graphic novelist Rick Spears. The show is 2/28 here in Richmond. Flimsy is the best word I can think of to describe this novel. The plot was compelling enough to finish the whole book, but all of the “big” moments felt underwhelming because they weren‘t properly set up. At times the dialogue was awkward enough that I had stop myself from editing as I read because it took me out of the book so often. It‘s not a bad story, it just want executed very well. #2018reads
Here‘s my January #bookhaul! I feel like this was a bigger book buying month for me than normal, but 4 of these were gifts, too. Not that I‘m complaining or anything 😁😉 Are any of these on your TBR? Or any you‘ve read and loved?
These were both good books. Decent plot and setting and okay characters. Both deserve ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars. But in times like this were beautiful and exciting books are coming to the Young-Adult market you have to be more than average.

Must have more dragons. Follow the link to read more: https://lifebooksandcc.blogspot.com/2018/01/book-review-before-she-ignites.html?...
I'm giving this book a 3 star.It would've been higher if it weren't for the maincharacter, Mira. She whines, belittle her self.I have a hard time understanding why the author wrote her like that. It's REALLY annoying. The story is very good, she's made a fantastic scenery for it and the hints of magic we get is so intriguing.Lots of villains you'll love to hate.I will read the next books, in hope of Mira growing an actual backbone.
Just a heads-up that this is a character driven story that‘s slow going. The only thing pulling me through was wanting to know what happens to the dragons...which I won‘t know until the 2nd book (well played Jodi Meadows). My favorite character Aaru, the MC‘s silent friend, left me wanting to know more about their relationship so... although the 1st book was so-so for me - I‘m more likely buy the second book... just out of sheer curiosity.
I absolutely adore the relationship between Mira and the dragons! I'm very interested in this book store magic and want to see what exactly it can do.
This book wasn't perfect but a really fun book overall. This reminded me of Flame in the Mist. It ends with lots of adventure and plot to go but the book itself is a set up to what is to come in the future. Lots of focus on politics and what has happened to create this world & it's circumstances.
I‘m really enjoying this book thus far and really and one of my favorite characters so far is Aaru, a man from Idris, the Isle of Silence, where his community don‘t speak much and use a quiet code through taps they make with their fingers. He tells the protagonist that there is ‘strength through silence.‘ I wondered how so when a voice can have so much power... now I know 👆🏽👏🏽❤️
My first vlog is edited and now I'm finally getting a chance to sit down and read a bit before bed!
"But mother didn't understand that LaLa wasn't a pet; she was a friend, and I was born for being with dragons."
Apparently I'm on a dragon and historical fiction binge
