I was feeling excited about next year's #bookspin challenge, so I decided to make my January list (complete with glittery winter stickers 😆❄🐧)

Book spin is the only reading challenge I'm doing because I feel like I need a year where reading is just for fun & not about completing a big goal.

I chose books from a metal cart I have stuffed full of children's classics and some vintage books.

Such a sweet and charming story.

Illustrated by Adrienne Adams, this is a very sweet story of a doll and her girl finding each other, and so much more. I‘ve had this copy forever but never read it. By great coincidence I chose to read this today, which turned out to be Rumer Godden‘s birthday.

Playing catch-up again and I‘m still fixating on kids books! This is my favourite Christmas kids story and #cold made me think of little orphan Ivy who has to find shelter overnight in the wintry town where she has been looking/wishing for a grandmother. I think she stays warm by sheltering near a bakery with a hot oven 🤔 Anyway as a child I wished for the doll Holly from this book so hard. Beautiful illustrations 😍

Some day I will make it through reading this book to my kiddos without crying. This was not that day. "Those are happy tears, right mom?" Love this story.

I was actually searching google to see if I could find that elusive Christmas book I mentioned the other day. One of my favourite carols (that was in this book) is The Holly and the Ivy. I then stumbled across this cute book!

Although I have not read this, it sounds like a sweet Christmas story about a little orphan girl and a doll who wants a child of her own to take care of her. Definitely on my #tbr 💕

This was my favorite Christmas book as a child. I still read it every year. I am giving a copy to my niece this year hoping she loves it as much as I did at her age.
