Contains some dragging along the way but it was a good story, with some pretty scary scenes. Not the best horror book I‘ve read but a great way to kick October off 🎃
“You didn‘t need to be sentient out here, just afraid all the time and quick to act when the world suddenly felt wrong around you; too still, too easy. That‘s when you died out here.” Super Spooky Saturday. So far so good, until it gets dark….

Full disclosure, I'd already seen the Netflix adaptation before reading this one which I thought was pretty good so hopes were high when I went into this book.
This book is split into two parts and part one was brilliant, part two not so much. Even knowing what was going to happen I was jumpy, the atmosphere was intense and I fully admit that I couldn't read this before sleeping.
Part two really let the book down for me unfortunately.

Have not read the book yet, but I loved the movie!
@Klou
On to the next. Loved this weird and scary movie. Ready for some scares on Audible!
Four friends embark on a hike together but it all turns very nasty and extremely creepy! I'm a wimp at heart but secretly (not so secret now) enjoyed this one. It goes from being fairly normal with a hint of horror to just plain messed up. Not sure I could handle the film adaptation though! ⭐⭐⭐⭐
If I needed another reason to not hike in the woods, this book just gave me about 6. *shiver*
Horror books are generally pretty wordy so I wasn't surprised that there was enough description in this to put me to sleep but this was so unsettling that I didn't want to out it down, especially closer to the end. Don't read before bed....it might not give you nightmares, but you might have some weird-ass dreams 😂

Think I can get an hour in before I need to try and sleep tonight.
This is already promising for it's creepy factor! 😈

Just a little bedtime reading ☠
I didn't realize how long this book was when I bought it. I really need to start checking page numbers 😂

“Moder was coming home now.” Entertaining read! One of my first “horror” books.

Watching The Ritual with The Bearded One just a few feet away playing video games as a safety blanket. #pagetoscreen
Has anyone else seen this on Netflix? The book was INSANE and the preview looks to be very promising. Gonna check it out....and keep the lights on 😂😳
Is there a #monster in this forest?

Four university friends reunite for a hiking trip in the wilderness. They have little left in common and tensions rise as they struggle to connect. Frustrated and tired they take a shortcut that turns their hike into a nightmare.
Lost, hungry and surrounded by forest, they stumble across an isolated house. Inside, they find remains of rites, pagan sacrifices, and unidentifiable bones. A place of dark ritual that is still present in the woods.
The beginning to this book was great, really caught your attention and was creepy. However the ending was a little bit disappointing. Would still recommend though!
Looked forward all day to coming home and opening my #HalloweenGoesPostal goodies. Everything is so cute and these books are awesomely creepy picks. Thanks @DiruVamp I love some "messed up" horror.
Thanks again for organizing @BookishMarginalia This was really fun!
If there are any people who are #cursed it's the guys in this #spooky book. But if you love creepy books, you are in for a #treat. (Stupid Nook app wouldn't let me take a pic of the cover so title pg it is. ) #uncannyOctober @RealLifeReading
This starts as a Blair Witch Project set up with grumpy middle aged men but then it goes soooo crazy and dark and scary! 😲 Full of suspense, gore and scares I was completely gripped and finished it in just two sittings, I had to find out how it ended!!! 😱 a bit Stephen king/dean koontz in style, a cracking horror book and scary read! 🙈
Oh this sounds like the perfect Halloween read! 👻 I have a massive stack of spooky reads ready for October so I go and buy more?! What's wrong with me?!?! 🤦🏻♀️

What's hidden in this forest could be either, could be nothing, or could be pure imagination.
If you walk #InTooDeep, you might not be able to get out again.
It's pretty #Garish what happens.

It's been some time since the kindle were all assembled on one table. I should have added the laptop and mobile to this, since I'm using the App on both.
My first book on the kindle was "The Ritual", a great disappointment, but I love my eReaders and never leave the house without one.

Wow. Four friends get lost in the deep woods of Sweden while on a holiday and it just goes downhill from there. The first half was fast paced and suspenseful and scary. The second half was a little drawn out and not as action packed but terrifying. Creepy. This would make a phenomenal movie!
Wow this book is flipping intense! I still have about 200 pages to go but my goodness!!
Lost, hungry and surrounded Scandinavian wilderness untouched for millennia, old university friends stumble across an isolated old house. Inside, they find the remains of old rites and pagan sacrifices; artifacts and unidentifiable bones. A place of dark ritual that is still present in the ancient forest, and now they‘re the prey.

READ THIS BOOK!😱. If you want a book you CANNOT put down until you finish, one you dare not sleep on, this is it. I read this last October, & became a lifelong Nevill fan. Scary, scary stuff. Read it, & spread the word📚📚📚
Recommended by my sister, who is on a quest to find the scariest horror books and movies. Pretty creepy indeed. The last third of the book didn't go quite where I expected it to go, but it was still fun. Probably helped that I read it while answering the door to trick-or-treaters on Halloween! 🎃
