Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles (2018-) #1 | Mark Russell

Its 1953. While the United States is locked in a nuclear arms race with the Soviet Union, the gay Southern playwright known as Snagglepuss is the toast of Broadway. But success has made him a target. As he plans for his next hit play, Snagglepuss becomes the focus of the House Committee on Un-American Activities. And when powerful forces align to purge show business of its most subversive voices, no one is safe! Drama! Humor! Tragedy! It all starts in Exit Stage LEFT: The Snagglepuss Chronicles #1, a new miniseries from the writer who brought you the Flintstones.

Heavens to Murgatroyd! Nostalgia 😍 I loved the old Hanna-Barbera cartoons.

This certainly had a different story to tell than those cartoon. It started a bit abruptly but once I got the feel for it, I loved it! I wish I wasn‘t late returning it to the library, I‘d have reread it.

“Pink fur. Red scare.” I never expected a Snagglepuss comic to be an enlightened take on McCartheyism nor to tell such a touching story about friendship and being your authentic self regardless of the repercussions.

Did a little #comic book shopping on my road trip to Dallas. Red Pegasus Comics is a pretty cool little store.

This week's library haul. I stopped off there on the way to Casey's very first dog park experience! He starts puppy school on Sunday and he's supposed to go to one new place per week as part of his socialization. There were fewer dogs out than I expected on a comparatively warm Friday afternoon, but he had a good walk and made four friends.
