“Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, True Love, miracles....”
Like TPB, this is a fun action-adventure. A YA novel with loads of piratey goodness. Overall a fun read except I‘m annoyed at the ending because it doesn‘t really end, just stops. Clearly there will be a book 2.
A swashbuckling YA romance featuring Alosa, the ruthless redheaded daughter of a pirate king. Raised to be more than a match for any man she meets, Alosa has been tasked by her father to obtain a piece of a map which will lead them to unlocking party of Alosa's past. Devising a scheme to be "kidnapped" by a rival ship, Alosa finds herself dealing with a loathsome Captain, and unwittingly drawn to his handsome but contradictory First Mate.
This was a fun, fast read! I have a few chunksters coming up to read so I thought I would go ahead and dive into this book this weekend. I am excited to continue to the next book in the future, because it sounds even more intriguing to me! Thanks for the fun read, @TheBookKeepers !
And Thanks for a fun round of #LMPBC ! @irre @Bookishthoughts We all had some different, yet interesting reads!
Apparently it‘s National Rum Day? Sounds good to me! 😂 I‘m planning to read Daughter of the Pirate King later this month, and this passion fruit and ocean breeze Princess Alosa lip balm by Bookish Balms is getting me in the pirate-y mood 🏴☠️ you can use my rep code MERE10 to save on your next order from her Etsy shop: etsy.com/shop/bookishbalms
Took me only a day to read this. It was a quick easy read that I really enjoyed. A unique story with some interesting characters. The banter and relationship between the two main characters was fun and had me laugh out loud a few times. Looking forward to reading the sequel!
What an unexpected delightful surprise! I got this one in an owlcrate box ages ago and it‘s sat on my shelf forever. Decided to pick it up for my A in DADA and really enjoyed it. Adventure, pirates, sassy retorts. This was nothing mind-blowing, but it was a whole lot of fun (4⭐️). I will definitely be picking up the sequel.
4/33 books finished for #NEWTsReadathon2019
I've read 29 books this month. I want to make it an even thirty before midnight SO I needed something about 300 pages max and I've been DYING to reread this. I need some Alosa sarcasm in my life.
This one was fun!! Very entertaining and a quick read. Hope you all like it!
Mailing it to @irre today! @kellyann28 I just pulled your book out of the mailbox when putting this one in 🎉
I really could not resist designing for this book. My daughter and I read it together and it's super adorable!
Meh. I expected a lot more from this. I just felt like it didn't really go anywhere. Quite a bit of misogyny and no diversity of characters. Plus there was a lot of family violence perpetrated by the father/pirate king that was never actually resolved in any real way. Really disappointing.
3.5/3 Stars. I enjoyed the story & love anything involving pirates. Plus, Alosa is a fun character. It‘s a great read for when you‘re sitting at the beach because of atmosphere. The reason behind my rating, is that at some points, the book seemed very...disjointed. A lot of major things about Alosa were revealed way later in the book than they should have been, and seemed to come out of nowhere. Will still read the sequel, however.
Does anyone else have trouble reading books in present tense? I picked this up the other day and didn‘t open it first...I just have such a hard time when it‘s not past! Not sure if this is #englishteacherproblems or I‘m just that picky 😂
4.5 Stars. Hilarious, Magical, so many wonderful twists and turns had me reeling to keep reading.
Riden and Alosa are perfect, i love everything about them and who they are they are now in my favorite characters area.
I loved learning about Sirens and the Confident's Alosa has and how strong she is.
Can not wait for the second book to come out!!! might have to make a deal with the devil ( husband ) to get it on my book shelve.
My $4 thriftbooks purchase came in & look 👀 it‘s signed!! Mega score!!! Plus a bookmark was in it!! What?! Excuse me while I go squeal 🎉🖤
This was so good. I loved the characters, the writing was descent and the pace was excellent.
Though, there wasn't much of like treasure hunts or sword fights (the next book has more of that) It was more about the main character having battles of wits with her captor.
This book was marketed as the female version of Pirates of the Caribbean, and it 100% gave off that vibe. It was a fun and action packed adventure, and I really loved the main character. She wasn‘t a rambling idiot like Jack Sparrow (not that I have a problem with those movies), but was kick-butt and smart and was always in control of the situation.
At first I didn't like the "fact" that only basic bitches are strong woman. But as I went through the book, my mind completely changed and I fell in love with the mc. She is strong, yes. But what really attracted me is that she is a good actress! I just loved every part she played those pirates ;) and not to forget the book boyfriend ?

Oh my stars!!! Thank you so much @orange.books for putting this book on your #NewYearWhoDis list! I have wanted to read it for a while and this gave me the perfect reason to do that. I loved this book so much, there are not enough words to describe how much I loved it. I am on the waitlist for the sequel to it (and I am number 1!), so I can continue this adventure.
“I am me because I choose to be me. I am what I want. Some people say you have to find yourself. Not I. I believe we create ourselves to be what we want.”
This was a very enjoyable audiobook. Alosha is a great character that is kickass most of the time but has some vulnerability. I‘ll definitely read the sequel.

Such a good book to get lost in. I‘ve always loved stories about pirates since I first learned about them in elementary school. Can‘t wait to get my hands on the second book!

My current read, really enjoying it so far ⚔️
Saturday morning coffee and reading. It‘s so hard to put this book down! I plan to have to done this weekend so I can get it back to the library on Monday. #newyearwhodis
1. My daughter as Tom Cruise for Halloween and her first Bee-day party.
2. Complete more challenges and read 35 books
3. Best- my daughter turned one. Worst- Going back to work after my maternity leave
4. To continue my healthier habits that I started a few months ago
5. I‘ve already finished one but I started it in 2018. This is the first one I started yesterday
OKAY this was GREAT and my only regret is not reading it sooner!!! Although now I have the sequel immediately at hand. Such swashbuckling fun, it includes some fully nasty pirates without getting too dark on the page, and I liiiiiiive for the enemies-to-lovers banter between Alosa and the unfairly attractive first mate of the enemy ship she infiltrates. A quick two day read that had me smiling the whole way through. 🖤 Black heart because pirates.
