Wow. Kristin Hannah just knows how to give you that gut punch feeling and break your heart. Gripping and emotional. Story of a woman during the drought of the Great Depression/dust bowl era. Courage, resilience, sacrifice.

I did not want to put this book down. Two different POVs from two different time periods kept me in suspense and I was really invested in the characters. Great and quick read.

This book was probably not the best choice to read during a pandemic but my heart broke for this dad trying to keep his son safe in this post apocalyptic world. The style of writing took a little while to get used to (no quotation marks for dialogue).

This book was like Age of Adaline meets Hades/Persephone. It had a lot of hype so I thought I would be disappointed but I was NOT. Worth the read if you like YA.

It was very hard to read this past year, with everything going on in my country and also being a registered nurse during a pandemic did not help. This year I‘m going to do better- starting off with this book. 3.5 stars, I devoured the first 100 pages but in the middle and end it slowed down a bit. Still a very unique book, haven‘t read anything like it!

Crossed off of my TBR. I really liked this one. I was afraid it would not keep my interest but it really did. An aristocrat is sentenced to house arrest in a hotel across the street from the Kremlin and he watches Russia go through decades of conflict from the sidelines. Despite the limited location, the scenes were beautiful and the relationships established between the count and the people around him were compelling.

Super short fairy tale retelling my Neil Gaiman. The illustrations were so stunning.

Medical thriller prompt in my Popsugar Reading Challenge. I wasn‘t a fan of this one, the second half really dragged on. It is a super tragic story, and it makes me sick to think of how many people swept this under the rug because they didn‘t want bad publicity. This isn‘t my genre I think.

Loved this book, I can tell that this book was the grandfather of a lot of the sci-fi genre and deserves respect. A lot of political intrigue, religion, plotting and the whole chosen one concept was well done in this novel.

This book just gut punched me and I need to share it. A story that switches back and forth between two POVs - one during the First World War and another shortly after the Second World War. Reading Evelyn Gardiners story revealed a bit at a time really kept me in suspense. It was based on some historical information but much of it was embellished. The Alice network =women spies. They called themselves Fleurs de mal- flowers who flourish in evil.

Wow, I can‘t wait another minute to start the next book (pictured). I‘m not sure why I waited so long to read Red Rising but I‘m so glad I got the series for Christmas!! Golden son is my favorite so far!

A collection of philosophical sci fi short stories - really well done. Loved the first story, it was my favorite - it was About a merchant who has a gate that goes 20 years into the future, and the people he allows to use it. My last favorite was the lifecycle of software objects that details the growing relationship of a woman who is taking care of her digital pet over the course of decades.

This book is so chilling.

5 ⭐️ I listened to this on audible and it was soooo good. It‘s a dystopian story, the main character belongs to the red caste, which is the lowest caste in the society. Reds are the slaves / laborers. He wants to bring down the golds, who are the highest caste/rulers. This turns into a grown up version of hunger games with a bit of GOT. The narrator really crushes this one. The song at the end of the audiobook was chilling and gut wrenching.

The descriptive lyrical prose was really beautiful, but I feel like the characters and plot were lacking. Would love less lengthy descriptions of libraries and light fixtures and some more plot. Lots and lots of metaphors, and the underlying message was interesting. 3.5/5

Hard to give a complete review until I‘ve read the second book in the series (not out yet). I love the themes of robot versus human/programmed versus passion, and I hope that is explored more in the sequel. The main storyline is about a world where robots rule and humans are servants. The princess and her human servant are enemies to lovers but it‘s slow burn with lots of angst. The 2nd half dragged, and I had to stop myself from skimming. 3/5 ⭐️

I think I‘d give this one 2.5-3 stars. Really predictable, characters were eh. I did not like the plot/storyline , but I‘m really not a mystery/thriller reader. However, the way she described the cold winter, the woods, and the lake made me feel like I was there.

Finishing up some more comics. Loved Darth Vader! Galaxy‘s edge wasn‘t bad either.

I‘m on a bit of a Star Wars binge to prepare for the new movie. These comics were a quick read, and I loved seeing Mon Cala and Admiral Ackbar‘s son!!

My favorite Star Wars book since Thrawn Alliances! So many awesome appearances/throwbacks. Takes place a few days after Crait. I‘m living for the Finn/Poe content. ❤️

3.5/5 stars! Didn‘t really root for the characters, at times I was a bit bored, but I did feel like this book made me think a lot. The bitter jokes about humanity and how people would act during the apocalypse were spot on. And I think I‘m in the minority here- but I liked the ending. The trial scenes where the aliens are trying to decide whether to let us live or not - the best part!!

Finally got around to reading this one, and I‘m so glad I did. It was gripping and I‘m so glad I bought a copy because I know I‘ll read it again. Moving, sad, beautiful, terrible.

I haven‘t posted on Litsy in a while, but I read this book recently and I really liked it! I am a big fan of Neil Gaiman‘s writing style, I think his prose is beautiful. He is a truly great storyteller.

Cute, charming, warm book set in 1946, on the island of Guernsey that was recently occupied by the Germans. The entire book format is written letters, telegrams, etc. if you can get past that, it is a good read. The romance felt a bit like Jane Austen.

Great book. Good fantasy world building. Great characters, interesting plot. At the end I REALLY couldn‘t put it down. Can‘t wait for the next book coming out in March.

I liked this book a lot but I was hoping for at least one interaction with Ben Solo. Still it was interesting all the way through and it helped me understand Leia more.

This was one of those books that I can‘t step away from even after I‘ve finished it. I‘m still sitting here trying to come to terms with this book. The writing was gorgeous and so descriptive that I really felt like I was there. The book switches between two main characters POV in very short but powerful chapters. It was a bit long, a hefty 500 pages but I couldn‘t rush through it either. Humbling, gut wrenching, haunting, depressing, inspiring.

Loved loved loved this book! It‘s truly amazing writing. I will be reading more from this author. One of the top Star Wars books I‘ve ever read, up there with darth bane!

This follows a child who is raised in awful conditions. An alcoholic father who loves his children but just cannot stay sober. When he isn‘t drunk he tells them stories, they plan a magnificent glass castle they will one day build, and teaches them about physics, geology, etc. The mother was selfish and so dysfunctional. The kids are so resilient and the writing is really well done.

Loved this book. The writing was well done. I enjoyed the imagery, and the characters were so relatable and flawed.

Loved this one! The author did a great job making me feel like I was in 1918, surrounded by the war and the flu. The characters were so well done. So sad and sweet. Definitely a good book to read if you want to cry.

Not a fan of this one. It was like a really watered down version of night circus to me. I had high hopes. A fantasy carnival game? Sign me up! But there was no world building, zero character development, and the game was just ridiculous. No emotional depth. Anticlimactic. I almost gave up on this one, and now that I‘ve finished, I wish I did.

I don‘t really have the words to describe this book. I couldn‘t put it down. It was very violent at times and it was difficult to wrap my head around what the world became. I felt so empowered in the beginning, when women were breaking their chains and not allowing people to abuse them. Then it escalated and it was shocking and terrible. Would definitely recommend if you aren‘t squeamish.

This book was so fun! A cute quick read. The cover of the book calls it a mixture of Willy Wonka and the Matrix, which I would agree with. Now I am excited for the movie coming out in March.

Some of the writing was not my favorite. The pacing was off. The main character is just constantly telling everyone how she is so amazing and skilled which was annoying. The romance seemed sudden and forced.

The last third of this book was so good, I couldn‘t put it down. It started a little slow, and the footnotes were a little different but in the end I really liked it. I will definitely be reading the second one!

I was really excited for this book. I loved the Martian, but this book fell a bit short. It seemed to be the same character and personality as before. It took the same tone, focused a lot on chemistry, welding, etc on the moon.
