Hooked_on_books I‘ve heard this is an amazing book. But the abuse bit is why I won‘t be reading it. But I‘m really glad so many people are appreciating it! 1mo

BarbaraBB You finished it! 👍🏽 1mo
Kristy_K Good to know about the content warnings. I‘m on the fence about this one b/c sometimes that becomes too much for me. (edited) 1mo
jenniferw88 @Kristy_K, it's probably not for you then, as although I wasn't triggered, it definitely could for some people - I did find myself pausing it just after the tougher parts. I'm also pretty sure I've missed some triggers, but I think I've got the majority of the main ones listed here. 1mo

For a book filled with horrible characters and an unreliable narrator, I just could not stop reading. I had a suspicion of one of the twists in this thriller, but there were definitely surprises.

Charlie survived Scarlet Christmas, a horrific incident at her journalism school that left 3 dead. She thinks she‘s coping, but is she? 9 years after the incident, her life begins to unravel as she addresses her trauma. So many secrets, so entertaining.

BarbaraBB Sounds intriguing, great review 2mo

Hooked_on_books I think some of the best mystery/thrillers have all dreadful characters! It makes it more interesting and when it‘s a “who died?” situation, you‘re glad to get rid of any of them! 😂 2mo
Librarybelle @Hooked_on_books So true! I kind of like either really horrible people in books or the unreliable narrator…you never know what‘s going to happen! 2mo
Kristy_K Great book for this prompt! 2mo

Master Key | Masako Togawa
post image

Wow, I loved this twisty (& twisted) book filled with mysteries that takes place in an apartment building for women residents leading up to the building being moved due to road construction. A master key which disappears drives much of the story. I literally laughed out loud in surprise at the end & it had me rereading the very beginning. What a macabre gem! I am using this for #toldinnonchronologicalorder for #52bookclub

BarbaraBB This is such a fun read! I‘ve meant to read more by him ever since. 2mo
vivastory @BarbaraBB I really liked “The Lady Killer“ I don't see that Pushkin Vertigo has pub. any others by him. I just ordered two other books from Pushkin Vertigo that I'm excited about 2mo
BarbaraBB I‘ll go after The Lady Killer! Which other books did you order? 2mo

vivastory @BarbaraBB I ordered “Crush“ by Frédéric Dard & “The Tattoo Murder“ by Takagi. Have you read either one? I've heard good things about both, esp about Dard who has frequently been compared to Simenon 2mo
LeahBergen This sounds fab! Stacked! 2mo
batsy I loved this too! Masako Tagawa was a woman and her bio on Wikipedia is so intriguing. If memory serves me right think the place in this book was inspired by her childhood home. @BarbaraBB 2mo
vivastory @batsy That's so interesting! 🤯 2mo
BarbaraBB @batsy Wow, I didn‘t know! Super interesting! 2mo
