Bookwormjillk I liked this more when I read it as a teen I think. As an adult I thought it was too long and SK was a bit too much with some of the sidebars. It read very late 70‘s early 80‘s to me. Still King do readable but not a favorite. 21h
BarkingMadRead @Bookwormjillk 💯 could have been a short story! 20h

JenlovesJT47 I enjoyed this and am looking forward to the movie adaptation! It is one long existential crisis that fills you with dread. 20h
AllDebooks I did not like this. I found it repetitive and overlong. It certainly was tense and horrifying. I agree, @BarkingMadRead it would be better as a concise short story. 20h
5feet.of.fury I didn‘t like it either. Weird side note though, there was a 20 mile race that went from Kittery Maine to Salisbury Massachusetts and goes through the part of Rt1 NH that they were on at one point. I was there once also trying to beat an aggressive time cut off 17h
KathyWheeler I liked it but feel it would‘ve worked better as a novella. I also have mixed feelings about the ending. 8h

Pickpick

Initially read this years ago, had almost forgotten how great it was - knew I liked it, but I hadn't remembered the intensity of the boys.

It was kismet that one of my co-workers (who saw me reading) had also randomly picked this one up! So we have been discussing too!

Picture from one of the protests (felt like it belonged here)

Pickpick

This book gave me serious sympathy pains in my whole body. "...his feet had headaches and the blood was coagulating in them and swelling them and turning the veins to al dente spaghetti." I had to check to make sure my feet were okay after that description--the mark of great mind manipulation!

Apparently it is technically possible to walk that far. Records have been set. I Googled it.

InLibrisVeritas Oh no! I forgot to read it! 😂😅 I'll have to blaze through it on Thursday. 7y
DGRachel @InLibrisVeritas 😂🤣😂🤣 7y
MinDea I read The Long Walk last year and really enjoyed it. I heard someone bought the rights to make it in to a movie a while ago but no news on when it will actually come out. 7y
Eggbeater This book made my feet ache in sympathy. It was great. But damn that ending! I really wanted to know what Ray would have wished for. Would he wish for his dad back? Would he wish the major dead? I had questions! 7y
Karkar This was one of my least favorite books. I powered through it, but by half way I was like how much longer can he go on about a stupid walk. :( oh well on to the Dead Zone! 7y
Bklover I love the fact that Stephen King can write an entire book about a walk. Creating all those different characters and scenarios all around walking and dying. I loved this one! It was every bit as good as it was when I first read it years ago 7y
BookwormAHN I also loved this book. I was shocked how well he could keep me engrossed in a book with teenagers walking. Also for me dystopian is always more frightening than horror. 7y
JulAnna I looked forward to re-reading this and for me it stood up to the passage of time. I remembered the shock I felt during my first read when I realized the penalty for walkers who stopped. I thought there were interesting talking points here about competition and spectator fascination. Ditto to @Bklover and @BookwormAHN 7y
LauraJ Finished up my reread...this is not a good book to read when you‘re sick...unless you like wallowing in misery. 7y
DGRachel @LauraJ I feel like King is not a good author to read when you‘re sick, no matter which of his books you are reading. 😂 I hope you are feeling better! 7y
