I‘m trying this spinner app to motivate me to read my BOTM backlist in September. First up is Half Sick of Shadows by Laura Sebastian. Here‘s hoping it goes well.

#BookReport. The closest I‘ve come to matching my #weeklyforecast!

How to Treat People - just too heavy
Thursday Murder Club - fun! And silly. And possibly kind of sweet
The Corsair. Where to begin??! I have a new geographical obsession- the under-sea freshwater springs off Bahrain. The plot‘s just gone a bit Dynasty. With more pirates & Empire & less women. I‘m enjoying it tho
Small Country - small & powerful
Easy job- should‘ve finished by now!

Cinfhen Ha!! This is delightful 💗💗💗 13mo
TrishB 👍🏻 great summary 13mo

squirrelbrain This cheered me up nicely! Love that you‘re turning into a pirate-fancier! 13mo
ChasingOm My brother just got home yesterday from a year long stint in Bahrain with the Coast Guard! 😂 #random 13mo
rockpools @squirrelbrain “Turning into”?! I have a horrible feeling it‘s always been there, deep down. Too many Nancy Blackett aspirations as a kid 🏴‍☠️ 13mo
rockpools @ChasingOm Wow - what an incredible thing to be doing! How did he find it? I would LOVE to visit that part of the world! (Probably not any time soon though). 13mo

As soon as I got to work I realized I forgot my book bag, which of course had my book in it. I was sad. Like, really sad. But my soup was good 😋 (trying to grow out my pixie cut and man, is it a painful process lol) #random

britt_brooke 😩😩 What a bummer! 2y
Jess Sorry about the book but your hair looks super cute! 2y
Tera0707 @Jess haha thank you! The struggle is real! 2y

Follow.my.read I think you pixie is adorable! You should keep it😊 2y
Tera0707 @Follow.my.read awww thanks! This is actually (almost) ten months of growth. It was super short (buzzed to a three on the sides and back), so it‘s come a long way ☺️ Who knows, I may get tired of hair again and chop it off once more 2y
ljuliel You are as cute as a button. That hairdo suits you . 2y
Tera0707 @ljuliel 🤗 thank you 2y
shaguffi Hey dude! I have been through the same struggle of growing my pixie cut...seriously it takes a lot...I also got tired of them and got them chopped but I miss my long hair now...😐😐and the struggle is worth it...and yeah your eyes are beautiful😊😊 2y
Tera0707 @shaguffi that‘s what I keep telling myself: it‘ll be worth it ☺️ Thank you! 2y

My husband and I went on a mini-trip to LA last month and we found this neat book at a cute little TASCHEN bookstore at the LA Farmers Market.

I‘ve never seen or heard of TASCHEN before stumbling upon their bookstore and I‘m glad we went in to browse. They have a great collection of different books and looking through the book cover designs is akin to being in a modern art gallery!

Hetalia had me signing up for more #history courses, Hetalia almost got me to take a course on #Spain (that I had to drop bc money), and it's because of Hetalia that I ever considered being a #historyminor . .

One place I don‘t want to be #onmyown? Stranded in the snowy, desolate moors of England at night, being picked up by a “phantom coach” being driven by a creepy old dude.

This anthology of “spine chilling stories of the Victorian age” was part of my recent Book Outlet haul. 👌🏻

DivineDiana Agree! 😱 3y
vivastory I love Victorian stories like this. Good choice! 3y

I love seeing people reading in public. #random

Kaye Did you walk back and forth til you could see the title ? It bugs me if I can‘t see WHAT they are reading. I‘m a bit nosey when it comes to books. (edited) 3y
squirrelbrain I do that on the train during my commute @kaye ! I lean backwards and forwards until I can see what it is, or sometimes try and read over their shoulder...! 🤫 3y
Lmstraubie @kaye @squirrelbrain I sometimes just walk right up and ask what they are reading. Obnoxious, I know, but dang my curiosity gets the best of me! 3y

Reecaspieces @Lmstraubie I usually do. But I really did not want to disturb him. He was into his book! @kaye 3y
Kaye Yep, I guess I‘m not the only one that is curious when I see someone reading in public. I sometimes ask them. Depends on the day. 😁 3y
DoonTheGoon This reminds me of a profile on Instagram that I follow called HotDudesReading 3y
Zelma It would be awesome if he is on Litsy and pipes up in this thread! 😆 3y
Reecaspieces @DoonTheGoon yes! I thought of that! I follow that too!! Great minds think alike 3y
Reecaspieces @Zelma that would be so super!! 3y

⭐️⭐️⭐️ It was pretty ballsy (i.e. insane) for Hunter S. Thompson to immerse himself with the Hell‘s Angels. For almost two years in the tumultuous 60s, he lived among the outlaws, researching and experiencing some of their criminal behavior firsthand. For whatever reason they trusted, or at least tolerated, Thompson and the result is what feels like an in-depth article that expanded into a slightly too-long book. But still a worthwhile read. 👇🏻

britt_brooke Side note: I‘m completely fascinated by 60s California counterculture; such a weird and horrifying time in US history, so this was a good addition to the several books I‘ve already read. 3y
emilyhaldi Interesting side note! Have you read all of Joan Didion and this tagged book? ☀️ 3y
britt_brooke @emilyhaldi I‘ve read most of Didion‘s nonfiction. I haven‘t read the tagged, but just stacked it - thanks! 3y

Victoriahoperose I love Hunter S. Thompson. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is one of my favorites. He was one of a kind and invented a new way for nonfiction writing to exist. ❤️❤️❤️ 3y
Leftcoastzen ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Hunter! 3y
britt_brooke @Victoriahoperose I really appreciate his work. His journalistic contributions are remarkable. Plus he‘s a native Kentuckian like me. 💚 I need to reread Fear and Loathing. It‘s been several years. I really enjoyed Rum Diary, too. That‘s all I‘ve read thus far. 3y
britt_brooke @Leftcoastzen What‘s your favorite? Besides this, I‘ve read Fear and Loathing and Rum Diary. And The Great Shark Hunt has been in my TBR for ages. (edited) 3y
Leftcoastzen I like them all ! I am re-reading Hell‘s Angels right now.I adore Fear and Loathing. 3y
britt_brooke @Leftcoastzen This was my first time reading Hell‘s Angels, but that‘s too funny we were reading it at the same time. #random 3y
britt_brooke @Leftcoastzen Nope - thank you! #stacked 3y
Leftcoastzen Also love looking for books published by communes and those fun handmade house books ,70‘s self sufficiency and health food books .woohoo! 3y
