Can you name any of these picture books?

Bookjunkie57 It‘s cheating since it‘s the tagged book but the one in the top corner is Go, Dog, Go. I read this book so many times as a child. I think I might even still have it in a box upstairs. #ChildhoodMemories 5mo

Day 21 of #adventrecommends @emilyrose_x

I was 10 when my year 6 teacher Miss Shearman read this book to us. I have loved it ever since & re-read it so many times; each time it warms my heart. The TV adaptation is perfect with John Thaw as Mr Tom. This is a book that will always be dear to my heart now & forever

irre I loved this as a kid. Read it so many times. I just read it to my daughter and we cried together. Didn‘t know it had been adapted for TV. 11mo
Andrew65 A wonderful book and the tv adaptation with John Thaw was simply brilliant. @irre 11mo
JaneyWaneyB @irre it's not often both the book & TV adaptation are as good as each other. @Andrew65 John Thaw was an amazing actor and I agree he is fantastic in this 11mo
Andrew65 @JaneyWaneyB I loved him as an actor in everything. Truly brilliant and responsible for me becoming hooked on detectives and crime novels! 11mo

Green Eggs and Ham | Dr. Seuss, Theodor Seuss Geisel

Pickpick

This modern fantasy book, Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss, won the Pulitzer Prize award (1984) and it would be a great SR book. This infamous book has a character named Sam-I-Am who constantly asks his unnamed friend if he likes to eat green eggs and ham here or there, basically anywhere! But his friend refuses to try until Sam suggests he should try them and he shall go away.

DianaHerrera The lesson from the link above has to be one of my favorites thus far. First you should read Green Eggs and Ham to the class. As you are reading, focus on the words that rhyme with the class and list them on the board. After placing the students in small groups, it is their job to work as a team to think of different places where they can read a book. After several minutes bring the class back together and record the ideas as a class. (edited) 1y
DianaHerrera Next, the students will create their own book (in their groups) of places they can read with words that rhyme. For example, “I can read in the hall, I can read at the mall.” The destinations they choose is up to their imagination. After their book is complete, each person in every group will draw a picture and title of the cover of their book. 1y

DianaHerrera The UDL that goes with this lesson would be 6.1 – guide appropriate goal-setting which is to help students understand the similarities of words that have a rhythm to it. An EL strategy that would go with this lesson would be number 20: list the most important words, in this case rhyming words, and phrases from Green Eggs and Ham you would use during your presentation on the transparency/chalkboard. #UCFLAE3414SuB18 #DrSeuss #ChildhoodMemories (edited) 1y
prissy.mooney I absolutely loved this book (and still do). I love to make green eggs and ham for my kids every year on Dr. Seuss day, and teach them all about rhyming and to stay true to who they really are. I love the idea of them making their own books! 1y
GGallegos This was one of my favorites growing up!!! I remember in 1st grade actually making green eggs and ham in class. It is a great book!🍳 1y
DrSpalding You are receiving nice feedback from your peers! I too have made green eggs and ham! Once they get over the color, they love it. 1y

Well, I flew through this audiobook last night. I sacrificed sleep to finish it in one sitting (laying actually, curled up with my cats) It was absolutely brilliant. I loved Leo and Stargirl the same as I did back in the day, and I found myself laughing out loud and repeatedly smiling at how adorable this book is. Leo struggles to choose between popularity and a girl who absolutely mystifies him. Love or Friends? What would you give up to fit in?

Post 4/4 of my #throwbackreadathon TBR stack. I simply could not do this event without rereading some Robert Munsch 💙 I already know that I‘ll be crying through Love You Forever, but I can‘t wait. These beauties are going to be passed into my nephew after this readathon.

monalyisha P.S. Y‘all up on the Berenstain/Berenstein alternate world controversy? @Clwojick @Itchyfeetreader 2y
See All 10 Comments
DivaDiane @monalyisha No! Do tell! 2y
monalyisha @DivaDiane @Clwojick @Itchyfeetreader Basically, there are those who claim to have distinct memories of “Berenstein” being spelled with an “e.” They claim this is because they were existing in an alternate timeline, but that the timelines have now converged & everything (even the well-worn books from their childhoods, dutifully dredged up from their parents‘ attics) is now spelled with an “a.” Link to follow! 2y
DivaDiane Haha! Well, I have to admit it is confusing, because I‘ve heard the name pronounced in various ways and Berenstain is an unusual spelling. But they did all sorts of strange things to names on Ellis Island, so anything is possible. 2y
Clwojick @monalyisha I swear it was pronounced with an e, but not 100% on how I remembwr the spelling. That‘s a hilarious post though. 👏 2y
Itchyfeetreader @monalyisha this is amazing, I could fall down this story all day!! All I remember is they were not available in the uk when I was little but we had a family friend who had been a nanny in Canada and brought them back for me. I thought I was pretty special. 2y
Q84 I loved most of these myself! 2y
