Fantasy. I learned to read with fantasy books, my dad read fantasy to me and my sisters every night growing up. Fantasy is baked into my very foundation. ✨

#SundayFunday Have a great day everyone, and don‘t forget to tag me!

julesG That's a question I can't answer. I'm too chaotic to stick to one genre only. 7mo
IriDas Same. I was introduced to Fantasy in high school. Before, I‘d read mystery and novels. Even though my parents were avid readers, there were no Fantasy books in our home. Nor did my grade school teachers have us read any. In 11th grade I had to read one of the Pern books and was instantly hooked. 7mo

#TLT @dabbe

This was fun!! The bottom three are villains that frightened the life out of me as a child!! I‘m sure they meant the singular man in Bambi, I‘m using it to mean mankind. Also, if you‘re playing a fascist/Nazi automatic villain!! Missing from the list are my two favorite villains, Moriarty from Sherlock and Loki. (if you get redemption arc, are you still a villain?)

Care to play?

lil1inblue Loki! 😍 😍 😍 1y
dabbe I bet if AFI updated the list, it would include SHERLOCK's Moriarty. “Miss me?“ 😱 And excellent question. I'd have to say yes because Darth Vader got redemption, right? Though most of these on the list were evil all the way to the end. Thanks for playing and sharing! 🩶🧡🩶 1y

Left work a little early, so I could have lunchtime #CoffeeAndABook before my therapy appointment - cold brew (it‘s warm out! over 50 degrees! 😆) and a caprese egg sandwich while Bilbo, Gandalf, and the dwarves try to get out of yet another dangerous situation

I didn‘t finish much this month 😔 but it was good for how much has been on my plate. My rereads were my only 5 stars (with crowns) so hoping for a better September.

I caught up two chapters tonight: A Thief in the Night and The Clouds burst. In the first I‘m surprised with Bilbo for basically lying and going behind his companions back. Gandalf is back! Just in the Nick of time too! 😍 #FellowshipofTolkien #LotRChapteraDay @Daisey @JazzFeathers #CatsofLitsy

Daisey The whole way he never mentions the Arkenstone is a bit tough, but he also realizes Thorin is not rational about it. (edited) 2y
dabbe Hello, sweet kitty! 🖤🐾🖤 2y
JazzFeathers What's right and what's wrong? That's to the core of Tolkien's philosophy. And I'm puzzled that so often it is said that there is a stark division between good and evil in Tolkien's work, because l find the exact opposite to be true: the relationship between Good and Evil is very complex and misty. And Bilbo's behaviour in this chapter is a perfect example. 2y

Although the spiders episode is probably one of my least favourite in the book, l do love the first half of the chapter, the journey through Mirkwood.
Such a haunting place!

I love that dreamy atmosphere, that sense that something is there, and then it's not there anymore. The noises without a body. The lights, the doubtful path.

There's nothing certain in Mirkwood and still there's so much power there.

I'm so behind in the #FellowshipOfTolkien reading of The Hobbit, as well as the other books I've been reading that I'm joining #20in4 with a goal of reading for 20 hours this weekend. I don't have to work tomorrow, so I should be able to pull it off.

"Do you mean to wish me a good morning or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good on this morning or that is a morning to be good on?" ☀️

Brought out my dad's copy of the Hobbit for this readalong. ❤️

In 2017 some of us started a #ChapterADay #readalong of The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings that turned into a multi-year journey through several books by Tolkien, the entire History of Middle-Earth, & his published letters. On July 18, we‘re starting a reread of the 3 main works.

Comment here or on the post by @JazzFeathers if you‘re interested in joining us! I‘ll be collecting a tag list from these 2 posts.
