Another classic chunkster that I thought deserved representation is Middlemarch, a great story for Victorian fans!

This is the only Hemingway I‘ve ever gotten through and the tagged book started my love for Doris Lessing #shortestclassicyouread #chunksteryouread #maylovesclassics #litsyclassics

Pruzy The only Doris Lessing I have read was The Cleft 5y
BarbaraBB I never managed to finish the Golden Notebook though I enjoyed some of her other books. Would you recommend it? (edited) 5y

I don‘t do well with chunksters, so joining in the read along of this book earlier this year was a good decision. I‘m so glad I read it and it‘s such a great read. At 806 pages, it‘s the biggest chunkster I‘ve read.
#litsyclassics #maylovesclassics #chunksteryouread

Jamesmelvinmitchell It also took me a while but I was glad I persevered. 5y
TrishB Great pic 👍🏻 5y
Ms_T After seeing various posts about it, I bought the audiobook. Looking forward to getting stuck into it! 5y

#MayLovesClassics #chunksteryouread
This was a book where the film actually lived up to the novel - it's years since i read it but feel it is time for a reread and repeat viewing, particularly given the state of the world at the moment.

ValerieAndBooks Yes to both for me — at least 30 years ago! I‘d need to hunt down a copy to re-read — don‘t have mine anymore. 5y

Gezemice Gorgeous! Congratulations! I have finished it earlier this year. It feels like it deserves the ‘Reader‘s Badge of Honor‘. If there is no such thing, we should have one! Thanks for the tag, @Riveted_Reader_Melissa ! 5y

I haven't read the tagged book yet, but it's on my list for #litsyclassics. #shortestclassicyouread And Vanity Fair is a favorite #chunksteryouread. #maylovesclassics #litsyclassicshost #foliosociety #foliofreaks

LeahBergen I just found a copy of The Visiters a few weeks ago. It looks hilarious. 😆 5y

A Suitable Boy | Vikram Seth
post image

I tried to read A Suitable Boy several years ago and I got a third through it and quit. So I was excited when my book group tackled it earlier this year and I finally made it all the way through and loved it! Next chunky books on the list: the last half of Infinite Jest, Ulysses and Moby Dick. #chunksteryouread

David Copperfield | Dickens Charles
post image

Of the few Dickens stories I've read, David Copperfield is my favorite. I was drawn in from the first chapter, and the spell held all the way through the thousand pages without flagging. Looking back, it's almost like a gritty, older cousin to Anne of Green Gables. Would love to reread this someday.
@Sarah83 @Bambolina_81

Tanisha_A That edition is 👌! 5y
LeahBergen I haven‘t read it! Well, sort of ... I think the one I read as a kid was abridged? This would make for a good Litsy buddy read! 👍🏻 5y
batsy Me too @LeahBergen I was fooled into thinking I had read it but it was an abridged children's version 😂 5y

BarbaraBB This will be my next Dickens, after I finish Bleak House. I have heard so many good things about it! 5y
ValerieAndBooks I read this as an abridged version as well 😂! Need to tackle the “real deal “ someday. @LeahBergen @batsy 5y
LeahBergen @ValerieAndBooks @batsy They tricked us! 😆 5y
rohit-sawant @LeahBergen @batsy @Barbara4 @ValerieAndBooks I almost bought the abridged version too at a bookstore years ago! Hope you guys check the book out in its entirety soon! It's such an immersive, layered read. 5y
rohit-sawant @Tanisha_A Penguin Classics editions are such gems! 😍🐧 5y
Centique I loved this too 😊👍 5y
erzascarletbookgasm Such a pretty edition. Yup, I‘ve read this long ago..abridged version 😁 5y
rohit-sawant @Centique That's great to hear! 🙌🏻 The characters are so incredibly drawn. 5y

Kristin Lavransdatter | Singrid Undset

Some #chunksteryouread books that I‘ve read. #1001Books counts the Kristin Lavransdatter trilogy as one book 🤷🏻‍♀️. I don‘t know if *...And Ladies of the Club* would be considered a classic (it‘s good though!) but I included it for visual balance 👩‍🎨😊.

LeahBergen I‘ve read them all! 👏🏻 5y
batsy I have that same edition of Anna K! 💜 5y
AlaMich I really enjoyed Kristin Lavransdatter. It amused me to see people‘s eyes glaze over when I said that I was reading a trilogy set in 14th (I think?) century Norway. 😂 5y

BarbaraBB Great choices. I read them all as well, except for the ladies of the club! 5y
ValerieAndBooks @LeahBergen I‘m not surprised you have 😊! 5y
ValerieAndBooks @batsy I bought it when Oprah chose it for her book club (circa 2005?) and I read it through that summer 😊 5y
ValerieAndBooks @AlaMich and yet Kristin still has a contemporary feel 😊!! 5y
ValerieAndBooks @BarbaraBB I read And Ladies of the Club eons ago...keep thinking I‘ll read it again someday 🤗! 5y
Suet624 I don‘t think I can say how much I love Kristin. Have read it twice and am itching to read it again. 5y
