Panpan

After ch 2, I skimmed the rest. It felt like a TedTalk expanded into a book but without enough. Too many anecdotes & personal stories, too many generalities, too little science or actual tools. I‘m not even clear on her definition of shame as she seems to lump a lot of things into shame. And I will honestly forget most of what I did read. Sadly, this is a pan & an #unpopularopinion

Clwojick Ooo great match! 16h
Roary47 I‘m sorry you didn‘t care for it, but glad you were able to get it off your list. 16h
JuniperWilde I wasn‘t a fan either. I appreciate BB‘s contribution but don‘t get the hype. 15h

wanderinglynn @JuniperWilde I‘m glad I‘m not the only one. It has a ridiculously high rating on Goodreads and I just didn‘t get the hype. 12h
Chrissyreadit I haven‘t read this- and I think BB is ok but I also have not understood the hype (based on a different book I read) 10h
wanderinglynn @Chrissyreadit I can send this to you if you want to check it out. Honestly, I think The Artist Way, which I just started, is much more helpful & provides actual tools to “dare greatly”, be vulnerable, & combat shame—Julia Cameron just doesn‘t use those terms. 10h
Chrissyreadit @wanderinglynn I have it on kindle- for years- I also have The Artists Way- I thought I‘d read it with my teens in their High School years, but we never got to it. I‘m much more likely to pick The Artists Way up. But thanks for offering 😘 9h
TheAromaofBooks At least it is off the shelf!!! 9h

The Old Man & the Sea | Ernest Hemingway

Somehow I've never read this classic, despite it being short and despite it being on my shelves for over a decade, since my husband owned this copy when we got married haha I'm not sure how Hemingway managed to make me completely engrossed in a story about an old man catching a fish, but he did - I could barely put this one down! The ending did make me rather mad, though, but most classics do haha

TheAromaofBooks @OutAndAbout - I can definitely see this as a book that I wouldn't have appreciated in high school, because it is, objectively, rather boring haha But as an adult I was a lot more interested in the Old Man's struggles, contemplations on aging and loneliness, and the Boy's genuine love and compassion for the Old Man. I think some authors just can't be truly appreciated by teens, and Hemingway may be one of them. 1d
OutAndAbout @TheAromaofBooks sold. It‘s going on this years TBR. 1d
Roary47 This was always my favorite story in school. We read it two different times. I‘m glad you had the opportunity to check it off. 💛 1d
Clwojick A old favourite! ❤️ 17h

Out of the 3 Castles Ever After, this was my least fave but I still enjoyed it. It just dragged out a little bit. But still a fun regency romance.

I had a great fun #legoaudiobooking today and finished the Lego Bookshop!

Book 4 for #joyousjanuary
Book 3 for #pantone2022
#roaringwolf “hope”

tpixie Wow! A Lego library! Cool! 2d
booksellerofyourdiscontent That Lego set is so cool! Does it have an interior or is it just a façade? 2d
squirrelbrain I ❤️the Lego bookshop… I keep dropping hints to hubby but…. 🤷‍♀️ 2d

Andrew65 Great 👏👏👏 2d
wanderinglynn @booksellerofyourdiscontent it has an interior & each level comes off. Here‘s a video of it: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CZEeKm4pEbZ/?utm_medium=copy_link 2d
wanderinglynn @squirrelbrain you might tell him that it‘s been out for a while and eventually Lego will retire it. 😉 2d
squirrelbrain Ha! Great idea, Lynn! 😁 2d
wanderinglynn @squirrelbrain my pleasure! 😀 In fact, I just looked & it‘s still sold out at the US Lego online store. I had to order this one from Target. 2d
squirrelbrain You can still buy it from the Lego store in the UK. It says ‘hard to find‘ though, and a max purchase of 5…. Hubby usually buys two of everything and puts one away in the loft untouched. So maybe I need to hint loudly for TWO book shops! 2d
Roary47 Yay! I‘m glad you were still able to enjoy it. 😊 2d
Clwojick Lego sounds like so much fun right now! 💖 1d
Teresereading I have finished the bookshop but not the other building 10h
wanderinglynn @Teresereading 👍🏻 I try to make the builds last but I can‘t stop once I start! 😆 10h

This book was fantastic. On the day of her death Orquidea gathers her family to her so that she can give them their Inheritance and then she literally transforms into a tree. Seven years later after a few of the family members die questionably Marimar, Rey and Rhiannon start searching for answers to Orquidea's history.

A cute #MiddleGrade book about a boy named Roan who wants to go to Pilot School but instead ends up at the Jedi Academy. He doesn't know how to use the Force and its a bit Harry Potter but set in a Galaxy Far Far Away.

Finished my first #ChunksterChallenge2022 read! 902 pages! I listened to it on audiobook, which I highly recommend for this series. This is book 9 and it is definitely not a standalone. Though a flaw of this book is summarizing too much of past books. Trimming some of that would have improved the book. I still enjoyed all the amazing characters. 4⭐️

This was a super sweet romance novella that had some really funny moments. I loved it and now I want to read the other books in the Starlight Hill series. This is also my 2018 read for #19822022 @Librarybelle and my read for “Hope” for #RoaringWolf @Roary47 @Littlewolf1 And my pick for a contemporary romance @Nessavamusic for #NSR22

Librarybelle This sounds like fun! 6d

Woohoo!! I finished this one!! I think the “official“ #chunksterchallenge is anything over 800 pages, but for my personal 2022 challenge, I'm counting anything over 500 pages - these are books I've been putting off the last couple of years because of trying to hit my GR goal. This year, I've set my goal to 50 and even though I spent an entire week reading this one, I'm still 7 books ahead of schedule 😂 Anyway, this book! I loved it! Although it ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) was one of those books that did sometimes make me feel a little dumb. There is a lot going on here, and a lot of math, music, history, and chess - and I'm not particularly an expert on any of those! But the dual storylines really worked here, and I found myself very invested in both timelines. The ending felt almost too tidy, as a lot of complications got tied up quickly, but I'm a big fan of HEA, so I'm always willing to give a little ⬇ 1w
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) leeway there!! All in all a really enjoyable read and one I can see myself picking up again. I'm planning to read the sequel this week!!

TheAromaofBooks #WickedWords - @AsYouWish - I can't remember, does the word need to actually be in the title, or does the book just need to “match“ in some way? I.e., this cover is blue, so does it count for blue? 1w

Lizpixie Nice work!🙌 1w
AsYouWish @TheAromaofBooks It just needs to relate in some way, blue color on cover counts!!!!💙💙💙💙 1w
TheAromaofBooks @AsYouWish - Sweet!! I couldn't remember what the exact rules were! 😂 1w
AsYouWish @TheAromaofBooks The rules are flexible - it is just a fun way to get those books off our TBRs or a way to help pick books to read when we are stuck. 😁 1w

I really loved this book. Bayard is a underrated author in my opinion. Henry gets caught up in a mystery involving the Elizabethton genius Thomas Harriet, after his best friend dies. His friend Alonzo is a collector of rare books & recently stole a letter from one of his competitors. Of course the man wants his letter back & as executor of the estate Henry is tasked with finding it.

Fascinating. The basic premise: there is an over-reliance on economics/quantitative analysis to make decisions when these things should be a tool not the main determining factor because people do not think logically. Sutherland recommends psychological logic (aka alchemy). He mostly focuses on marketing (he is in advertising) but his premise has application in other areas.

Book 2 for #joyousjanuary

wanderinglynn I listened to the audiobook, which was fine, but I would‘ve preferred a physical book to take notes & flag pages. (edited) 1w
