Before the Ever After | Jacqueline Woodson

Pickpick

Jacqueline Woodson is an auto read for me. From kids titles to adult, from poetry and verse, to longer storylines each book is executed perfectly and I feel so intuned to the characters and how they are feeling. Not sure how she does it so flawlessly, but I was just in the body of a boy witnessing his dad's decline in health after dozens of concussions due to being in the NFL. Well done, JW, well done! @BookRiot #ReadHarderChallenge2020

Plays are not my go-to, that's how I know when they end up on various task lists that I really am pushing myself to read more broadly. I've never seen The Streetcar Named Desire as a play, or on film, let alone read it. I can imagine this was well ahead of it's time with hearsay being such a strong theme, unfortunately in a day of social media it's only gotten worse. Thanks for the task @BookRiot #ReadHarderChallenge2020

Read a YA Non-Fiction book.

After reading up on the Tennessee Children's Home Society a quick Google search led me to The Dozier School for Boys in Florida that was in operation for over 100 years. Just over 100 pages about the "living" conditions, discipline, cover-ups, and modern forensic truths detail horrific sentences for the inmates/child prisoners who resided inside. Not a pleasant read by any means.

Butterfinger You and I are kindred spirits. I am doing #NWC, #ReadHarder20 #Booked2020 #ChildrensClassicRead2020 #ReadingEurope2020 #classicschallenge2020 #PopSugar20 #mandmchallenge2020 #ReadwithMrBook USReads and CenturyReads

My favorite thing to do is find several prompts of different challenges for each challenge.

bibliobliss @Butterfinger We DO have some challenges in common!! Glad to "meet" you in the NWC group. It's always great to check off boxes for several challenges. Good luck and check in with me as often as you like!! 4y
MissAimz_55 Oooo I think you‘re in more challenges than me. I love challenges because it broadens my reading life 4y

bibliobliss @MissAimz_55 Exactly 😉 4y
Geenie How do you sign up for these or find them? 4y
bibliobliss @Yoshi-and-a-book All the challenges here are floating around on Litsy. They all have their own hashtags and can be located in the search function via hashtag. You don't have to sign up for most of these, you just find one you'd like to try and join in. Find the original post, take a screenshot and post on your profile. The only ones I "signed up" for are the #LitsyAtoZ and #NWC #NovelWatchingCrew (which I also found on Litsy and joined the group) 4y
Geenie Thanks so much! @Readage the challenges are so cool 😎 4y
bibliobliss @Yoshi-and-a-book You're welcome. Any more questions, I'll try to help 😉 4y
Reviewsbylola You‘ve got a lot on your plate! 4y

The #readharderchallenge2020 task 13 “read a food book about a cuisine you‘ve never tried” is a real challenge bc I don‘t wanna read a cookbook nor a chef‘s memoir. I‘m not into the art of cooking no matter how much I enjoy eating.

This book, y‘all, nails it. Adventurous plot, historical war theme, lovable characters and FOOD. The most exquisite cuisines one could conjure up in the middle of the ocean as if one‘s life depends on it.

Halfway now.

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Love this book. 💙 4y
pppooraikul @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Just finished it a few days ago. Loved it too! 💚 4y
