It turns out Icelandic horses were brought to Iceland by the Vikings. They were also used in The Hobbit movie because their smooth yet fast tolting gait made them good for riding in armour, and for keeping up with Gandalf's larger horse. The tagged book I stumbled across looking for more Icelandic Horse info and now I want to read it. This Icelandic horse is named Haukur and is one of the horses I take lessons on.
