5 ⭐
Finally got around to reading this and it's as good as everyone says. Taylor Jenkins Reid is great at these types of stories. I did the audiobook, which I recommend, but could also see the appeal of doing this in print.

This is my #featuresamusician pick for #booked2019 @BarbaraTheBibliophage @Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft

BarbaraTheBibliophage Great choice! 1mo

4thhouseontheleft I still have to complete the Irish winter prompt! Great job on the others, I also read Hey, Kiddo for the addiction prompt. 2mo
IamIamIam Great job! You're getting there!! 2mo
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @4thhouseontheleft Hey, Kiddo was a great book too. For the Irish Writer prompt I thought I‘d read Celtic Twilight by WB Yeats it‘s on serial reader and it‘s fairies, Ghosts, spirits...so I thought it would be good one to read in October. Genrebusting is the one I‘m not sure what I‘m going to read for that one yet. 2mo

JazzFeathers 👏👏👏 l basically abandoned in the first quarter to try and clear my #NetGalley pile. Which l'm almost done doing 😆 2mo
Cinfhen Great job!! Every prompt you complete is a total win 🤗🤗 2mo
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @JazzFeathers I‘ve just been fitting them in as I go, as we near the end of the year I‘ll have to be more selective. 😉 2mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage Great job! Like my lovely co-host said, every one completed is fab! ♥️📚👊🏻 2mo

#booked2019 #featuresAmusician Why did it take so long for me to get to this one? I don‘t like Opera?A visiting businessman is to be treated to an incredible birthday party in South America,an amazing soprano is to sing at the event.Gun-wielding terrorists burst in an hold international dignitaries hostage. As time goes on the character study of relationships takes center stage as the situation goes on.unexpected alliances form.

Lcsmcat I‘m glad you liked it. It‘s one of my favorites! 2mo
erinreads LOVE this! Bel Canto was my first Ann Patchett and it made me an instant fan! 💕 2mo

On the Come Up | Angie Thomas

Pickpick

How does Angie Thomas write such compelling characters and stories? This isn't quite as good as THUG because the issues don't feel as immediate and heavy, but it's still a stellar book.

Cinfhen Really liked THUG but this one feels very YA for my reading taste. Great review ❤️ 3mo
4thhouseontheleft Angie Thomas is a fantastic writer! I love both of her books. Great review! 3mo

#Readathon I loved this book! This has got to be the best book I‘ve read this year. It starts out about a father/son relationship, turns into a love letter to the Dakota & NYC before, surprisingly, becoming a love letter to John Lennon, before closing out as being about a father/son relationship. It‘s funny, poignant, beautifully written & meaningful,Highly recommend #Deweys24hrReadathon #HSreadathon #Booked2019 #FeaturesAMusician

Cinfhen I see I‘ve already stacked this book but now I need to find it!! Sounds awesome 💜🎶 3mo

Movingly depicts daily life during the siege of Sarajevo through the perspective of different citizens of the city. Through each we see the small steps taken to preserve humanity and normalcy. I was brought to tears by the cellist‘s dedication and by the choices made by several characters. #featuresamusician #booked2019

Buechersuechtling Not book related but I find your table beautiful. 💗 Wonderful pattern. (edited) 4mo

This one seems to get mixed reviews, but I ended up kind of loving it. I listened to the audio production and thought the multiple narrators brought the interview format to life. I even teared up at the end. #Booked2019 #FeaturesAMusician #LLB19 #aBOTMpick

Read in April.

Bookzombie @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft @Cinfhen Hi! This is a late post from last quarter. I just wanted to let you know so you don‘t count in a giveaway. I have a few more of these to post. 😬 4mo
Cinfhen Thanks for the heads up!! I wish I would have listened to this audio!! I think I would have liked it more than I did in print ( which was only so-so for me) 4mo
Dragon I agree the actors really added to the audiobook 👍😀🐉 4mo

Even better than the first Allon novel. I was totally drawn into the intrigue of the secretive world of the Swiss bankers and their dark secrets and the talented Anna Rolfe. Can‘t wait to continue this series. #thriller

If you‘re interested in the authentic history of the blues, then you‘ll want to read this book. Booth functions sometimes as a fly-on-the-wall (e.g., the Elvis article); other times as an embed (e.g., the Furry Lewis stories). He‘s one hell of a documentarian, and his phrasings are often akin to those heard in blues music. The guy should try his hand at novels—he‘s that good a wordsmith. This book is a ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ compilation of articles he‘s written over the years, dating back to the 60s. Thus, some of them might show historical signs of the particular decade in which they were written. This leads me to issue the following TRIGGER WARNINGS: There is both racist and sexist language. I‘m not excusing it, but I will say that these are interviews and stories very much of their time and place. (edited) 5mo
Cinfhen Still sounds like a fascinating read!!! Well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 5mo
