Mehso-so

It‘s a so-so because I feel about 35 years too old for it, but I know I would have loved it and Sierra when I was 15! Well written urban fantasy
And completed my #pocmcparanormal and #booked2019 overall 🎉🎉 now I can plan some of next years.

alisiakae Congrats on finishing the challenge! 🎉🎉 4y
Cinfhen Woohoo!!!!! Congrats 🎉🍾🎈 Here‘s to all 2020 reading challenges ❤️❤️❤️ 4y

#weeklyforecast
As always, these are what I felt like today but who knows!
Starting tagged one this morning, hopefully get an hour or so before anyone else gets up 😁
Definitely in the need for some tales of gutsy women!
I have one more to read for #booked2019 but just don‘t fancy anything for it at the moment 🤷‍♀️

Cinfhen Which prompt is left??? 4y
erzascarletbookgasm My forecasts are like that too. I always have one or two impromptu reads slotted in! 4y
squirrelbrain Can we help with suggesting anything for your last prompt? This week looks good though.... 4y
See All 22 Comments
TrishB @Cinfhen @squirrelbrain it‘s #pocmcparanormal I have a couple of suggested ones on the pile but they‘re just not calling me yet! Anyone feel free to offer anymore! 4y
TrishB @erzascarletbookgasm you have to allow a bit of flexibility 😁 4y
TrishB @Cinfhen in other news I am nearly there in top 10 of the decade! Might manage it before the next decade! 4y
squirrelbrain @TrishB - oof that‘s a difficult one! 🤷‍♀️ Probably not much I can help with there - I‘m not keen on paranormal.... 4y
Cinfhen Somebody recently posted their MCparanormal post and they loved their book...was it @gradcat ??? Did you check the hashtag, Trish??? You might scroll through and find a few suggestions 4y
Cinfhen Woohoo!!! I‘m looking forward to that DECADE LIST 4y
TrishB @Cinfhen just gone through hashtag and may go with this one ! The list is currently at 11.... 4y
Cinfhen It‘s good to have choices!!! Hopefully one sticks 🤞🏼🤞🏼 (edited) 4y
Cathythoughts Looking good 👍🏻❤️ 4y
Sace "...these are what I felt like today..." EXACTLY! That's my biggest challenge when planning my reading. What I feel like on Sunday could completely change in Monday. TBH it can change hourly! ? 4y
TrishB @Cathythoughts 🤞🏻 I get some time! 4y
TrishB @Sace I hear you! I‘m already fancying something else 😁 4y
Sace And needless to say, spending time on Litsy does not help! 4y
MicheleinPhilly I LOVED Christodora. 4y
TrishB @Sace I set myself little targets- can‘t go back on Litsy until I‘ve read another 100 pages etc! 4y
TrishB @MicheleinPhilly a great endorsement 👍🏻 4y
Sace Oh. That's brilliant. I may try to get myself into that habit as well! 4y
gradcat @Cinfhen & @TrishB I just finished the tagged book, which qualifies for POC Paranormal. I can‘t say it was my favorite book, but I think it‘s an important book from a first-time (pretty sure?) author. It‘s not bad, but it‘s not a nice book...there are very painful moments having to do with slavery and power struggles between classes. I tend to think it‘s almost necessary, definitely powerful...I hope that helps. ♥️ 4y
TrishB @gradcat I shall check it out 👍🏻😘 4y

I read this one for #booked2019 for the #pocmcparanormal prompt. I love Alice in Wonderland and thought this was a great modern day retelling of the original. I thought the characters and plot were really fun and exciting and the way that they incorporated bits of the original were really interesting. This reminded me a little bit of The Mortal Instruments series, which I also love. I thought this was a really fun and exciting book!

BarbaraTheBibliophage Fun pick! Good job on another prompt! ♥️📚👊🏻 4y
Cinfhen Agreeing with @BarbaraTheBibliophage cool choice 😁 4y

Typically, any mention of magical realism or supernatural phenomena will make me steer clear of a book. But I took a chance on this one for #booked2019 #POCMCparanormal and I‘m so glad I did! The paranormal #rayoflight is so lightly laced through this story that it almost seems a figment of the characters‘ imagination- part of their hope that must be kept alive in order to get through the horrors of slavery.

MicheleinPhilly Glad to hear it! I feel the same way about paranormal so have been avoiding this prompt but I‘m looking forward to this. 4y
BarbaraBB I feel that way about paranormal as well as slavery I must admit. That‘s why I have been avoiding it. But your review gives me hope! 4y
EmilyM Loved this book! 4y

BarbaraTheBibliophage Glad it helped you check off a prompt more painlessly than anticipated! This one‘s inching to the top of my 2019 favorites list. 4y
Cinfhen I couldn‘t get into this book. I think it was wrong timing. Maybe I‘ll try again. Glad it worked for you 4y
emilyhaldi So funny @Cinfhen I really thought this would be a good one for you!! I just can‘t ever predict you 😉 4y
Cinfhen Hahaha!! That‘s funny. My reading tastes are always evolving and changing. I seem to really be gravitating towards nonfiction these days. 4y
Reviewsbylola Still pretty sure I would hate this. 4y
Mdargusch I‘m with you @Reviewsbylola 4y
Suet624 I agree with you. That particular device worked for me in this book. 4y

This was not what I was expecting, for some reason I thought it was going to be more of a ‘tough‘ read. The subject matter is obviously difficult but it was a page turner at the same time. It was very tell not show. Good characters and I loved the premise. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #pocmcparanormal #booked2019

Cinfhen Nice review!! 4y
youneverarrived @Cinfhen thanks 😘 4y
BarbaraBB I‘m going to read this one too for that prompt. Your review is encouraging! 4y

My #weeklyforecast this week is dedicated to #booked2019 📚 I‘ve made some progress on each of these reads this weekend:

Ohio #bookaboutaddiction
William, an Englishman #soldiersstory
The Water Dancer #PoCMCParanormal (which I am LOVING by the way, can't put it down!)

Thanks to our hosts for the bookish inspiration!! @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft

EmilyM I just finished Water Dancer this afternoon.....loved it! I think I am going to now read Colson Whitehead's The Underground Railroad to follow it up. 4y
alisiakae I really want to read The Water Dancer! I‘m on hold for it at the library. 4y
Cathythoughts I nearly got the Water Dancer the other day 🤔... maybe I‘ll go back & get it 👍🏻❤️ 4y

emilyhaldi @EmilyM its reminding me so much of Underground Railroad!! I'm already loving it as much. Perhaps thats why I keep thinking you would love it, Cindy! @Cinfhen (edited) 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I loved Water Dancer. So glad Coates stretched into the world of fiction without losing his social justice focus. 4y
Reviewsbylola Oh really?! I didn‘t even consider reading the Coates because paranormal. 😛 How is Ohio? 4y

This was an easy read with diverse characters and a great MC. I like that the author combined the spirit world with the art world, and there was enough creepy to keep my interest.

I am thankful to my new book club for opening me up to a masterpiece. I haven‘t read anything by the author before, but he has such a way of words that it was so hard not to feel like you were in the story. There were some hard parts to read, but I felt the ending fit the book. It also satisfies the last prompt for #booked2019 for me #pocmcparanormal. Hiram has a power that is core to the book, but it‘s not understood until almost the end.

Scochrane26 I haven‘t read this one yet but have read 2 nonfiction books by him. They blew my mind & educated me about race. He also wrote the new black panther comics. 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Great pick for this prompt. Congrats on finishing the challenge! I definitely recommend his other books, too. 5y

I‘m still all over the place, 16 finished... 8 to go though.

This quarter I read:
July/Aug/Sept

19. Hey, Kiddo - #BookAboutAddiction
2. Spinning Silver - #FairyTaleRetelling
10. How To Build A Girl - #FeaturesAMusician
16. The Walking Dead Vol.32 - #Comic
17. Down Girl - Book Gifted to Me
22. Storm Cursed - #POCMCParanormal
9. Every Day is a Good Day - #IndigenousAuthor

#Booked2019

alisiakae I still have to complete the Irish winter prompt! Great job on the others, I also read Hey, Kiddo for the addiction prompt. 5y
IamIamIam Great job! You're getting there!! 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @4thhouseontheleft Hey, Kiddo was a great book too. For the Irish Writer prompt I thought I‘d read Celtic Twilight by WB Yeats it‘s on serial reader and it‘s fairies, Ghosts, spirits...so I thought it would be good one to read in October. Genrebusting is the one I‘m not sure what I‘m going to read for that one yet. 5y

JazzFeathers 👏👏👏 l basically abandoned in the first quarter to try and clear my #NetGalley pile. Which l'm almost done doing 😆 5y
Cinfhen Great job!! Every prompt you complete is a total win 🤗🤗 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @JazzFeathers I‘ve just been fitting them in as I go, as we near the end of the year I‘ll have to be more selective. 😉 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Great job! Like my lovely co-host said, every one completed is fab! ♥️📚👊🏻 5y

I loved this book!! You really don't have an option to question what's going on as you're thrown into a world where Alex is a bruja and trying to reject her powers before her Deathday. Things don't work out as planned and sometimes we need to realize that what we think of as burdens are really our greatest strengths. #POCMCParanormal #Booked2019 #Autumn

Cinfhen Fabulous review!! Have u read this @Reggie 5y
IamIamIam @Cinfhen Thanks!! I was warned about the love triangle in advance but it didn't take away from the story. 👍 5y
Reggie I have not, but I have heard of it but you know how the reading life is..... ohhhhh there‘s a book. Lol @cinfhen 5y
